So it turned out that I had a dirty throttle body with alot of carbon build up. I used Gumont cleaner to clean it up. I did it all by myself. Saved me alot of money. Thanks again for your help.

A tbi has a gasket which is probably a dealer item .. And its not rubber like the motor in the video, meaning you would habe to replace it when taking ur tbi off..with tbi ur just better off cleaning it with a towel and screwdriver and tb cleaner..also the car in the vid is drive by wire, which needs more thorough cleaning..unlike a tbi

did your impala shake when driving? mine shakes at the red light also. I've changed the spark plugs and that wasnt the problem. Hopefully this helps because i cant stand this vibration stuff. I have a 2007 impala with 110,000 miles

Dataman mine shakes a little and just gets loud at red lights, and when I brake to turn, and then accelerate, there is a noticeable kick. Did you have both issues and did this help with either??

i did the same with my 2008 impala ls ,and i was having high rpm ...but i found the problem after two days, the gasket on throttle body ( the gree one) in the process i cut during the instalation . so i replaced and the problem was solved

My 08' Impala periodically flashes Service Stabilitrak and Service Traction Control on the dash. Check engine light comes on at the same time, then it all resets and nothing. The car has had what I thought a transmission issue, but Ive noticed that its more of an acceleration problem, as I have never had any tranny problems. Everything I am finding online points to the throttle position sensor. Was wondering what your thoughts were, dont really wanna sink a couple hundred dollars into a part I dont need or can easily fix. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for responding. But I did yesterday. P0121. I got under the hood and started wiggling and disconnecting the wiring harness. Then last night the check engine light went off. Byron Johnson check for loose wires at the TPS connector..could also be the wiring going to the TPS, or the TPS itself..need to do a diagnosis with a multimeter

I have the same issue with my 2008 Impala but my problem isn't only that. I'm having my Impala since 2009 in Oregon then decided to ship it to Saudi Arabia after graduating last year cus I love this car. The biggest issue is that 2006-2013 Impala was not imported in any Middle Eastern country!!! So there's no part Supply. Chevy Malibu 2006-2013 is available in Saudi Arabia but I'm not sure if I can use Malibu parts to Impala. Even Chevy agents and Chevy parts suppliers don't have any idea about Impala parts! Shipping parts from US is a choice but it's costly! Now I need throttle body, breaks & discs and shock absorbers. And maybe I need more parts in future Selling the car is not a choice because it has all of my memories So who can advise me if 2008 Malibu parts fit 2008 Impala's?

You wont mess up your idle. I did this myself a month ago. Use air carburetor cleaner, get a 3 or 4 dollar can from walmart and use papertowels. Clean it good and reinstall. Dont forget to change your impala's air filter too.

Cool.... I just looked at mine and naturally it is all oiled over with varnish etc. I assume it is from the PCV which is right next to it? Thought I could put it back together and run down and get a can of carb cleaner and I am now dead it the water. Will crank but not start. Is this common?

The reason I asked what type of carb cleaner is because it is not recommended on the Nissan and I believe some of the Fords as well.

OK back again. Took pictures as well. Filthy! OK let start with the beginning of the problem. Approx 15 miles before this happened (I am lucky I live out more in the bush and limped home) I filled the tank. Then going up a hill the tanny kicked down and I noticed it did not return to overdrive even though the rpms were increased. After I pull off the main road I dropped it to 3rd and noticed the rpms were hovering up and down. Made it in the drive and now this is where she sits. Cleaned the throttle body and assembled. I can hear the fuel pump come up to the rail then turn the key to start. It does try to start then quits, Wife noticed white smoke coming from the exhaust. My code readout is P2138 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor correlation any ideas? I am open. LOL

James Mana sounds like ur issue isnt related to cleaning the throttle body..sounds like its your throttle actuator..the whole throttle body..there are plastic gears that strip inside it..i would verify its that

A quick question as I mentioned early I had just got fuel. I am trying to force it to fire and a lot of white smoke. It is not antifreeze. it smells more like diesel fuel.......................Antifreeze it up to fluid level I now will test the fuel in the tank.
