Just did my rear spring. Thank you for this video. Tucking the rear wheel all the way up was a great tip.

@@DerekDualSport What did you set your clickers at on front and rear?
@DerekDualSport6 ай бұрын
@lhv13098 I’m pretty sure I went four clicks to the right on the front and six to the right on rear. I have it written down in my manual and that’s not with me right now.

Nice video. This '24 is my 3rd KLX with this chassis, was gonna do springs but I cheated. I have a Lust Racing Jack Up LInk {+1.4"} from my previous KLX 250. It puts my sag close to where I want it with me being 215 lbs, with a little more bias towards front tire. Making my OEM D605 front hook up great everywhere. And it raises the bike around an inch, Im 6'2 and I really love how that feels and the kickstand now leans the bike more. The OEM rear spring always felt OK to me until with just clicker adjustments, but as soon as I tightened the preload i could not get any clicker setting to feel remotely comfortable. Me dropping the rear psi to 10-12 when offroad helped angle the sag closer to level also. Works great in the woods and fast dirt roads where Im at in WI. However, I dont recommend the Jack Up in the desert. It didnt work well on my recent trip to AZ. Any soft sand the front wanted to sink, and I had to run more psi rear tire cuz faster rock riding and the rear would deflect a lot. I have a TON of aftermarket parts from my previous bike that fits but honestly Im happier with the '24 with just pegs, 13t sprocket, snorkel out, MX chain, and oem bars rolled forward.

That’s awesome! I’m gonna go check out some of your rides and vids. Yeah my favorite upgrade on this bike so far has been switching to a 13t front sprocket. It makes a world of a difference. I’m just gearing this thing up and getting ready for spring! I want to keep this as my fun bike for years so I’m going all out 😂

Thanks. I just did mine also. Same spring, 2024 KLX300. Your tips were useful. Thanks again

Thanks for this. Super helpful. To be clear, it looks like you did not require spring compressors to remove the spring. Is that correct?
@DerekDualSport7 ай бұрын
That is correct 👍

Big upgrade for my 23' KLX. Thanks Bro, awesome video. It's my next move, I'm sure it keeps the bike looking alive jacking up that suspension, Did seat height get taller?
@DerekDualSport10 ай бұрын
I don’t think it made the seat height any taller but it’s definitely sags less when you’re seated.
@MotoxKJ3810 ай бұрын
It doesn't jack up suspension or the seat height, It's a thicker coil spring, It's so it doesn't sag as much and bottom out on jumps for his weight, but you also have to set the Sag for your weight, find your total travel length on the shock, 9.1 in. on a 2024 KLX300, and you want it to Sag 30%, so 2.73 inches. You can look up on how to set sag, many videos on the tube.
@MotoxKJ3810 ай бұрын
If you only weigh like 150 or so you probably don't need a heavier spring, you can get away with a couple clicks on the compression, but if you weigh more and ride it hard and bottom on jumps get the bigger spring.
@NAdame-js1ce10 ай бұрын
@@MotoxKJ38 I appreciate your taking the time in responding and sharing your knowledgeable information. It’s very helpful. And I am going to upgrade on that thicker spring, I’m 230 and it definitely sags. Thank you MotoxKJ38
@MotoxKJ3810 ай бұрын
Yeah you need the spring and then adjust the SAG, and depending on if you ride more Street or more trail you can experiment with the compression setting, if you ride on the street more than you probably don't have to experiment with the compression, but if you ride hard in the trails you can go up a couple notches on the compression over a section of the trails and see how it reacts and then go back two notches beyond what you turned it before to where you can actually feel the difference and play with it if you ride mainly on the street you don't probably need to adjust the compression because more compression on the street will make it have a harsh ride

7 months later...how has the spring been? Would you have gone heavier? Racetech & Eibach both recommend a 7.6kg/mm rear spring, but it would have to be special ordered. Wondering if I can get away with 7.1 kg/mm, I am similar size to you.
@DerekDualSport2 ай бұрын
It has worked perfectly for me. In an ideal world I probably would have gone 7.6 as well. I’ve had no issues out of the 7kg though. I am comfortable with it in all types of riding.

Please upload a video if you do front springs! I’ve been wanting to do my ‘23 KLX but haven’t been able to find any videos that give me enough confidence to do it on my own!
@DerekDualSport10 ай бұрын
@austinhans1685 I can definitely do that! I think changing the front springs is easier than rear.

@@msims1250 I never bought it, didn’t want to spend the money at the time. I wouldn’t see why it wouldn’t work though. I’d just check all the dimensions first
