Thing is they said sidestepping was buffed in 8 but now so many more attacks and even goddamn throws track sidesteps so even though sidestepping distance is buffed as a method of dodging offense it feels nerfed because there are so many options that just flat out delete you for sidestepping at the wrong time. There are so many offensive options now that just flat out beat defense options in the majority of scenarios so it’s not surprising that defense oriented or balanced players are frustrated with this game since there is so much oppressive broken shit going on every round.

Armoured moves need to go, or be only accesible while in heat. Homing grabs need to go. And the most important thing, bring BACK character archetypes, not every character should be able to do everything, don't give them every tool in the game.

I remember watching one of your earliest videos on t8. You're playing against joecrush and you noticed "you cant block in this game". You also assumed Knee and Arslan might have trouble in this game because they play turtle. As a new tekken player and switching from law to lee(due to law hates and lee seems cooler). I commend you for being able to understand and adopt to this new mechanics even your character is really designed to be defensive.

12:35 to be fair that’s everyone’s weakness in this game. That basic af Azucena offense in that scenario is so incredibly oppressive and there isn’t much you can do about that besides literally take a guess and if you guess wrong well you die. Those kinds of scenarios in this game are the reason why people say it’s braindead there is very little risk involved in applying azucenas WR spam into mixup and most people have complained about that in particular being the most braindead move ever added to tekken.

Imo the trade back they need to implement for all this big chip dmg and heat pressure, is to bring back old Tekken movement. better movement, better backdashing, actual better sidestepping cuz homing throws and so many moves in this game are homing.

i dont think the traditional tekken style he plays is even bad for this game the difference i see with him vs uslan is the willingness to swing big i think tekken 8 feels super agressive because as a defender u cant defend passively. you have to make a play be a pinch hitter and defend agressively gotta defend with retaliation in mind

It's not that tekken is not fun. It's just extremely boring cus there's no character identity anymore. Everything is frametraps and 50/50 and plus frames, especially after they decide to do a match first to two. You don't even have time to recognize what your opponent is trying to spam, and every game turns out to be literally the same, you can rarely punish moves even cus most of this broken shit is safe.

Well said. TBH most characters in tekken 7 also don't have character identity, but there is 0 character identity in tekken 8. You can only see character identity in tekken 6.

it's why I stopped playing tekken.... 99% of players play only 1 or 2 games then quit... and in a game with around 5000 different moves.... that makes it unplayable. Ur in a match... it's exciting... down to the WIRE.... final round situation, final hit.... you get the final hit and win, or they get the final hit and win... and ur like NICE this is a GOOD MATCh..... then you hit rematch and watch them quit and ur left completely fuckin shocked and empty inside.... I been playing fighting games for almost 10 years, and the tekken online community are BY FAR the absolute fuckin WORST when it comes to this shit.

I feel like if he used his solid poking to create an opening then blew the opponent up with launchers when they do some dumb shit hell have a major advantage. He has all the openings and counter hit opportunities but wastes it by taking a poke damage instead of really punishing what they're doing hard and forcing them to play his game by putting fear in their heart

Tekken 7 and proly most of the tekkens since the early days was this: Legacy knowledge>skill 100% So maybe they're trying to patch this issue Tekken has and now everyone is complaining. And you know what? Legacy knowledge STILL trumps skill for the most part except at the highest level. So why complain when ur at the highest level? Now you actually actually have to play A FIGHTING GAME instead of a 'dash-dash-dash-low-kick-low-kick-let-the-timer-run-out' game.

I was so excited to move on from the overstayed welcome of T7 which I lost interest in by season 3 and for T8 to basically triple down on the mashy style and dry, singularly focused gameplay (pitbulling) I lost interest in the series. It's nice to watch high level play but to play it's just lame. Chip damage is just straight up retarded. Is this Tekken or Street Fighter?

Having trouble is a bit of an overstatement. He still beats 99% of players it’s just that they designed this game specifically to destroy him and Arslan so now everyone in that top 5% would be best player has a chance to beat him. It’s simple the tekken team added dozens of new moves and a few mechanics that basically have no downside or risk involved in abusing them. The defensive counter to these attacks like Azucena’s wr attack are so complicated and hard to perform that there basically is no way to do it because it’s also coupled with a mixup so knee pretty much just has to hold that shit and give Ulsan essentially unlimited 50/50 opportunities whilst simultaneously eating chip damage.
