Nylander has shown up in pressure packed situations when he plays bottom six competition. Marner plays against the very best the other team has to offer. Those things aren't comparable. To date no Leafs coach has trusted Nylander against top six competition for more than a couple of games or more often, a couple of minutes. Marner is also the only winger to be a Selke finalist in what..? Twenty years, maybe more? Nylander on the other hand is a huge defensive liability. In what could be described as career years for both players, Marner is +7, while Nylander is -4. Career Marner is +117 and Nylander is +20. Again with Marner facing much tougher competition. Reaves will fight Hathaway if Berube wants him to. If Berube doesn't want it, it won't happen. Boston was a magical game for Knies. Matthews looked really good, that said, Berube has said they are managing his time. Clearly, he should not be playing in the 4 Nations Cup, given that he has missed a third of the year and he isn't 100%. His priority should be winning a cup for the Leafs, not competing in an nothing tournament. If Matthews insists on playing... It is fair to ask if he should be wearing any letter, let alone the 'C'. True, no Russians = not a real tournament.

Addressing the cap hit this year. Who are you going to sign. Marner at 13 to 14 million a year as a restricted agent or Mathew Knies 6 million for 6 to eight years possibly un restricted with extra money to sign the rest of unsigned players.

Idk man that is a tough one. Ok I'll say this I love Matthew Knies! I'd prefer keeping and developing Knies. However with that said if Marner and the other big boys finally come through in the playoffs and they get to say the conference finals then sign Marner for sure and then see what can be done with Knies.
