I love traditional pocket knives. I always carry one on me, with or without a modern folding knife to accompany it. As you can tell by my name, my favorite pattern is the trapper knife. A close second favorite would be the Buck 110 Folding Hunter.

The black gold festival takes place in Hazard, KY during mid September. Cool to see something from where I come from. The festival is about coal, hence "black gold".

My favorite case pattern is the 08 pattern half whittler, not a true collector though so I only have my first BSA 6208 and the new for 2020 white smooth bone CV 6208. Trappers are definitely a very popular pattern and certainly a staple for Case, but I gotta have a secondary blade that's smaller than the main so trappers aren't for me. I do like the single blade slimline trapper though.

I don’t technically collect but I do have a couple. The most meaningful one I have is my grandpas work knife. It’s a 1960s Ulster. I found it in my closet in a box a few years ago covered in I’m assuming paint or something and a lot of rust. After some sanding, sharpening, and WD-40 it looks good again. I don’t use it though. Whole lotta play with the blade

I have a small Case with a blue bone handle, and I got it for a ridiculously low price at Amazon years ago, like $20 or something. I thought I lost it and wanted to buy another, and it was now selling at like $50+ but then I found it again and made sure not to lose it a second time.

I am on the budget end, but there's a lot available. I have a few different patterns, but Barlows are a definite favourite at the moment. I can feel Canoes starting to talk to me more though. 😜 Good show. Huge knife! 👍

Why do trappers have two blades? Shouldn't a knife only need one blade?
@trapperscout20464 жыл бұрын
The clip point is for general purpose. The spey blade, as the name implies, is for castrating animals. It has a blunt tip so as not to accidentally injure the animal during the castration process. For people not using the knife for that purpose, one possible reason for having 2 blades is to use one and keep the other one sharp for back up. If you read Nessmuk's book on Woodcraft and Camping written around the late 19th century, early 20th century, he talks about having a double bladed pocket knife for this exact reason.
