Peace Dave and the rest of the Knife Center crew!!! I am a total knife newb and a super late comer to the hobby, I'm 40, a father of 2, I freshwater fish and ride a Harley . About 10 years ago something told me as an adult male, I should be carrying a pocket knife. I started with $5 Walmart knives that I justified buying because I fish. Needless to say I misplaced each one I got. They would fall out of my pocket. I assume do to a weak pocket clip. At least thats my guess because when I cleaned my truck I found 5 or 6 knives that I had "lost" under my seat and buried in that crevice you can only get to by moving the seat 😂 the 1st real knife I bought (knife center recommended) was the Civivi pintail with carbon fiber handle and Damascus steel blade! It was under $100 but when I got it in hand might we'll have been a Chris Reeves!!! At that point I wouldn't have known the difference 💯 since then I have heard about better steels. I bought a couple "super steel's" ,bs30v and s35v and cpm20v from reputable brands like artesian cutlery and we Knife company.. I'm now at the stage where I'm trying to figure out what I need a knife for. This is where my question comes in. How do I justify buying knives if I don't do knife stuff? Then if I do get say a Benchmade that cost $200-300, is it a Safe Queen or should I be taking it to the woods trying to feather stick and chop wood? I guess I'm asking for myself and all the nonviolent knife newbs, what is this hobby about? Watching your videos have made me want to learn how to sharpen my own blades but most importantly you guys have inspired me to get back in the woods!!!!

19:27 I bought the firecraft 3.5 with orange G-10 and dyed them blackish brownish, it’s one of my favourite knives for sure. It opened my eyes to the usefulness of a sharpened spine on a knife. Super easy to EDC, though the ring and broad blade might make some people nervous in public. Great for non-prolonged bushcraft-esque stuffs, handle is easy to wrap in paracord if that’s your thing, and the kydex sheaths from white river will probably remain king of kydex forever. Also, kind-of a fun tidbit of info about orange G10 scales I found out when I dropped it on the ground at night and happened to have my olight arkfeld pro UV on me, if you dye orange G10 with black rit dye to the point they’re a super dark brown/almost completely black, those suckers will still fluoresce if you shine a UV light on them. Super convenient if you want to EDC a non-flashy fixed blade but are also worried you might lose the thing if you happen to leave it on the ground at night while camping or hunting.

If you want a fancier fit and finish, one of the premium CJRB/Artisan Cutlery knives would deliver excellent value with S90V and contoured titanium scales with milling or carbon fiber inserts, depending on the model (for example, I snagged a Premium Pyrite, which is a noticeable step above an already excellent knife).

Hey, DCA, Seth, and Thomas! Love the channel. And congrats DCA, on your new knife design, the MKM Pocket Tango! You can honestly make a shaving KniFAQ video with these 3 questions. #1- I saw the Petrified Fish Scholar and Artisan Cutlery Orthodox on your website and thought about the idea of shaving with a pocket knife. Apart from the obvious choice of just using a straight razor, would either of these be an ideal choice for a dedicated shaving pocket knife? #2- For us EDC enthusiasts trying to find additional excuses to use our pocket knives for more than just opening boxes, what are the knife specs best for shaving? Specifically, blade shapes, blade grinds, blade steels, blade finishes, handle materials, and locking mechanisms would be optimal? Any knives that you would recommend with all of these criteria? #3- For those who don't want to use safety razors, electric shavers, or pocket knives, what startles steel straight razors would you recommend? This would not use replaceable blades, nor would it be made of carbon steel. Instead, it would focus on corrosion resistance and edge retention. Bonus, if you can make 2 recommendations at least: one for best budget choice and another best premium choice. Thank you!

Depends on much more than steel alone. What will it be used for? The harder the task, the wider the angle should be. How willing are you to maintain it yourself? Great stuff! Hey DCA, Cru Wear or Magnacut ? Hearing lots of great things about Magnacut. I'm looking for best all around performance for the price. Preferably American made.

Why would anyone ever pick a Nessmuk or a Kephart? Just pick BOTH of them.

Hello David 👋 Couple of questions Is the new pm2 (magnacut) compatible with aftermarket scales? What did they use for the washers? (considering it is a Salt model)

Here's a serious question. What is the knife or price that embodies the line of diminishing return? In other words, what knife has such a value that every dollar you spent past it doesn't provide you the same return as what that knife did from zero. I've long thought the $200ish 20cv Protech Malibu was the line for a while. Yes you could spend more than that but there was not specific feature or function that you could really see any meaningful returns.

Man para 3 should’ve been mentioned for that $200 range but glad spyderco was mentioned. Is the compression lock too right handed friendly? Honestly idk. Hogue deka too.

Although I have heard plenty of lefties have adapted to the right-handed compression lock, there are other truly ambidextrous locks out there, so I don't really consider it when ambi is requested, as in this case. Cheers! -DCA

DCA I’d love a recommendation for a locking, micarta with some vintage vibes. Looking at something like the Boker bonefire I love the blade profile of the civivi chevalier. anything that kind marries the two designs that I’m missing?

Hey guys, how about best folding knives under $50 and $100 with deep carry, flush mounted, recessed screws pocket clips? Bonus points if the knife has a blockout plate in cases of reverse pocket clip capabilities.

You recommended a Gerber today. I briefly got into knives about 10yrs ago and Gerber were all the rage, now today; surprisingly, i never hear about Gerber at all. What happened?

DCA, help me. Every good EDC folder I have had has been lost, and replaced. In the case of my Sebenza and Grayman Dua, twice each. I no longer carry my “good knives” in my pocket, only in a leather case affixed to my belt when in the woods or hunting. I’ve tried knives from your sub $100 video and have been disappointed (sorry). What can I buy for sub ~$300 with very good quality, a blade that is centered when folded, no bushings, tip up carry, and a drop point? I’m not averse to flippers but prefer a thumb stud. Thanks man.
