DCA Nessmuk is perfection! Design, materials, MKM quality - fit & finish; knife, and leather sheath is superb. I will order the Lambsfoot Pocket Tango too. Love the Green Canvas Micarta, and Red Burlap Micarta. The magnetic sheath works perfectly. The MKM Pocket Tango, Green Canvas Micarta/MagnaCut Nessmuk is my EDC; the Red Burlap Lambsfoot will be my "Gentleman's" knife. Thank you, David; and congratulations for an outstanding design. Finally someone updated the George W. Sears Nessmuk design with modern materials. This knife is part of the original Trinity of Tools. Please do the same with the Moose Pattern slip-joint pocket knife, and the short handle, light weight, double bit hand ax with the original acute-angle edge for cutting, and obtuse-angle edge for chopping. I hope to see the DCA Trinity of Tools. Thanks again for a job well done.

David, congratulations on the collaboration with MKM! Received my Tango 1 Thursday and I love it. As for pocket fit, it is great in my pockets (YMWV), it does take up a little more space than my folders but I expected that. The leather is what makes it work, if it were Kydex it would rub very uncomfortably on the hand when trying to retrieve anything else I have in that pocket. I wear cargo pants mostly, occasionally jeans; the only pockets I think would have trouble carry the Tango would be slacks or any pant that has the pocket cut in the seam running down the leg of the pants.

For a gentlemans fixed blade I suggest the Columbia River CRKT 2861 Larry Fischer Hunt'N Fisch. It's a beautiful knife with a wonderful purpose for getting one. I put both lanyards on mine and it gets noticed for good reasons. Thanks for all you & everyone at Knifecenter do.

Received my Pocket Tango yesterday. I am clearly on Nessmuk team. The leatherwork is awesome. The magnet works ok. I typically wear 511 ABR Pro pants. They have a separate knife pocket. This knife fits perfectly in that pocket so it does not take away from anything I put in my regular pocket. I am anxious to use the knife for my various tasks. It is very sharp out of the box. Thanks so much... great job.

Gentleman’s fixed blade example would be a Boker Solingen Barlow BFF. Lucas Burnley designed 2.9oz walnut handle. Comes with a super supple leather sheath that allows the knife to slip all but about 1.25” into the pocket and the part that shows is a beautiful walnut handle. Good looking knife! Btw, my Pocket Tango in Green Burlap Micarta and Sheepsfoot arrives next week!

One of the knives I might call a “gentleman’s fix blade“ might be the MKM Knives Jesper Voxnaes Makro 1 in Olive or Santos wood. Like the pocket tango in Olive, it has a refined, simple look, and a fine wood handle is classic.

Greetings DCA, Thomas, & Associates. To build on a question from the lightning round this week; I’ve been looking for a multi-tool or pry-bar with a LED light to pair with the pocket tango 2. I can’t seem to find something that fits the bill well. Do you have any suggestions? Preferably something that can ride in the pocket with a clip. Blade isn’t necessary. Pry-bar and light are a must. Bottle opener and scissors are a plus. Thanks for your help and congrats on the pocket tangos!

If the Pocket Tango came out a month or two sooner and I didn't buy 2 other knives that add up to that price in that period of time already then I would have seriously considered the Lambs foot version in micarta. I love the look and size. Also, imagine if it had a kydex sheath (even if sold separately) with an ulti-clip.

Hey DCA! What’s the best blade shape in the pocket tango for whittling? Do you recommend it for whittling? Great work Thomas, Seth and DCA!
@knifecenter9 ай бұрын
I've done some whittling with my muk blade, but either will work. The straight edge of the lambsfoot is very useful as a whittler. I would say though, if you are looking to pass away hours in front of the campfire whittling, I would want something with a fuller, more accommodating handle. -DCA

Hello DCA and KC, love the MKM pocket tango. I have notice there is no "pocket fixed blade " category on KC website. I am becoming a fan of the pocket fixed blade knives, want to dive in this category deeper, are there any other pocket fixed blades favorites or suggestions of yours?
@c62west9 ай бұрын
Congratulations for your collaboration with MKM. YES, there is such a thing as a "gentleman's" fixed-blade. In fact, your Skipjack and Pocket Tango knives would be gentleman's knives if they were a third smaller, had thin scales and had sheaths that disappeared completely into the pocket. The most elegant designs are those with narrower blades, meaning no Nesmuks.

Not sure why people still are so stuck on only USA made blades. Of course I like to see and support USA manufacturing, but there's also tons of super high quality blades made outside of the US. It would be interesting to see a video where they do a blind test w/ knives from various countries w/ diff levels of quality.

I'd always like to be able to buy more USA made knives but when you can get as good or even better quality in a lot of cases for less money (Looking at you Benchmade) from companies like Reate for example, even if it is made in China that's what I'll buy, If money wasn't an issue maybe it would be different but as it is even the high quality Chinese knives are already a lot of money for me

Hey DCA and Thomas! So I am just getting my feet wet on making and customizing knives and I was wondering what would be a knife that I could change the handles and make my own. Or what knife blank should I purchase for this. My plan is a executive style letter opener with a rat tang or a fully encapsulated handle. I am not afraid of using a hack saw to cut a full tang knife if I have to. Budget is 75-100. With that in mind what do you suggest.

I ordered my Pocket Tango in the lamb's foot style, even though the website calls it a reverse tanto (win for Thomas). It seems more versatile. To me, the Nessmuk is for skinning critters. I don't do a lot of that, day to day. If I were a frequent hunter, I would get one. A gentleman's fixed blade? I imagine a Buck 503, but fixed instead of folding. Small. Elegant. Capable, but not threatening. I look forward to future knife specs being offered in fractions of banana!

Hey DCA < really like the nessmuck, love your videos, my question is a sharpening question. i know you dont do these all the time but maybe down the road. should you use different types of stones for different types of blade steel? Hello DCA and Thomas, Love your videos ! I have an odd question concerning slip joint knives. Why do some makers use brass liners (say for instance, Case) and some use steel liners (say Rosecraft). Personally, I like slip joints with the Brass liners, It's just a classic look. Enough said. Now, on the other hand, I like the way the slippies with steel liners sound: When the blade is being closed and it hits the stop pen by the pivot..... i feel like I'm Tim on Tool Time .....AAAaarrrr.......

Both of which have pricing guides readily available. I would like to get into vintage knife collecting. I have been offered older knives but I’m hesitant to purchase them as I have no idea as to their value on the collectors market. A gentleman's fixed blade would probably not go in the pants pocket, more likely in the inside jacket pocket, making the whole sheath and draw solution very tricky. A Kiridashi or something tiny like the Griffin Scout Medic might work, but thinking about why most people carry an EDC fixed blade = more heavy duty use than a folder, it doesn't really make sense to me.
