The audio engineering and compositon is way too good for this to be considered low art. This is high art, fantastic production in sound design and flavor. Sometimes you don't need the most bombastic and electrifying song to be the best. Simple ones can own a crown on their own when done well. And boy... this song really knocked it out of the park for me. When I heard this album for the first time I put this in my top 3 tracks on it and that still holds true today. It's so good.

Im a very old KP fan, I was even one of the first people to know via Twitter that Rob and Gareth wouldnt be part of Pendulum anymore, and I think that this is one of the 3 best songs in the album, old "fans" always complain about new songs from different genres, please stop. If you are a FAN of a group or duo, you start being a follower and that means you follow the musicians and their music, whatever it is, people that call themselves fans and disliked this album are not fans, they only enjoyed a few KP songs.
@SaxPanther10 жыл бұрын
An artist does not live to please their fans. They live to express themselves creatively and generally don't give a shit who likes it or doesn't. Some of these very talented artists who spend a lot of time on their work have this insatiable desire to produce and create and innovate and you can't expect someone to pump out the same thing over and over. As you may know Knife Party is completely different than Pendulum, yet I enjoy Pendulum and Knife Party, and really almost all the songs on the album including this one. It is not up to you, as a listener, to criticize an artist simply for producing a certain style of music.

You are right the artist doesnt have to give a fuck about people liking it but its still okay to say your opinion and a lot of artists are happy to get back some (constructive) criticism. If its not up to me to criticize who should be allowed to critizise them ? The creator themself ?

There are a few hours left until Abandon Ship's release will be 9 years... This time and my journey with it is are unforgettable and forever in my soul..... It all started with my introduction to Pendulum in 2014, when I first heard the tune from The Island in the splash screen of one minecraft video in the spring or summer. Then in the winter of 2016 I discovered this band in full and found out that they play live as a band and was blown away by the epicness of The Tempest sound and the melody of the last synth part of the song! Then I listened to Still Grey, Streamline, The Fountain and slowly explored this immense ocean of Swire's work. I remember the moment when in December 2016 I heard Encoder Live at Wembley for the first time and just fell out from the beauty of the song.... Then in the summer of 2017 I fully immersed myself in the discography of Knife Party project. It was an amazing feeling to discover each track and study it, to listen to the sound design and notice for myself how they are made and then to realize these ideas in my tracks. And then there was a moment of waiting for new releases from Rob and that was the release of Lost Souls, and the day came when I listened to ID called Nothing For Free for the first time.... It was a dream that melted into reality and I just couldn't believe it.... Then Covid, listening to Rampage Version on repeat and the death of my mom in the summer of 2020... Just so iconic... I'm insanely sorry she didn't live to see the moment of infinite happiness that I caught Pendulum releasing new material after 10 years! And nowadays Rob is releasing new tracks and a new life is underway. But this era will forever be in my soul as something inalienable, unrepeatable, honorable to me and all this chain of random events that led me to this man will be insanely grateful. Without him, his music, I would not have found myself and would not have known myself as a musician and composer. He's my twin flame... So I will forever honor this whole period of my life as a way of becoming and coming to the depth of myself. And thanks to every soul who's helped me and taught me to see myself as a creator and a god.... Pendulum, KP - forever in love...

My personal problem with this album is not that the songs are bad or poorly produced or what have you because they aren't. The issue I have is that, to me at least, there's nothing that really stands out like Power Glove from Haunted House or Bonfire from Rage Valley. Don't get me wrong, I love that they are expanding and experimenting, but most of these songs aside from Resistance and Begin Again are sort of forgetful.

The songs are not as catchy as others,And i was really expecting more of this album. Anyway, I think these songs aren't bad, Just not as euphoric as others... :) This thing happened to zomboy and skrillex, And They are free to produce what they want. Same with Klaypex... But it's great! Have any of you heard pendulum...Then begin again? :D Knife Party Rocks!

Ok, I have a wild headcanon/theory when I was listening to Genesis from Pendulum's Immersion: Considering the "themes" between Abandon Ship and Immersion, we could say that Abandon Ship could serve as a prequel to Immersion, even though it came years after said album. Idk, Kaleidoscope kinda sounds similar to Genesis as well
