Just calm down...”Anti-Fundamentals” is just a way of saying these violate a lot of fundamental principles we are taught as rules about positions and submissions. These are definitely not go-to subs and they are inherently dangerous, but they are also very sneaky and unexpected. These also make some great Hail Marys for when you’re losing or have lost position and you are desperate. Hope you like them!
Also, please consider joining my channel here as a member for more exclusive content not available publicly or check out Patreon.com/KnightJiuJitsu for exclusive content as well.

In catch wrestling we emphasis more subs like this for two main reasons: First, when you have pins it is a lot harder to ever take a break, so the action is pushed harder. Second, because of that, athleticism and being tired are more prevalent and important, and you don't need 100% control to get subs when your opponent is tired or you are constantly forcing scrambles and catching them in the chaos.
@KnightJiuJitsu
@KnightJiuJitsu 5 жыл бұрын
That’s one of the best explanations I’ve heard for prioritizing subs like that the way Catch does. Thank you.

This is my ALL TIME Favorite video from your channel 🙌🏽. I understand that I shouldn't rely on these techniques to my "to-go move". But I'm a small guy (5'3, 122ish lbs) lol with asthma so most of the time if I am stuck in "bad position" but I do got some trick up my sleeve lol but this video should definitely help me out and maybe make my partner to "THINK"! 🤙🏽Thanks Eli 🤙🏽

👏👍👍BRO!!! Thank you for this video. I'm 5'9 155lbs and all the guys in my bjj gym are freaking monsters, but It's making me better and stronger... I'm good at escaping mounts and defending & escaping back mounts, but my main problem has been bottom side control. I've struggled with this for months. I can escape bottom side control with guys my size and weight, but not with these 200+ pound higher rank bodybuilders until I saw this video. That ghost escape to darce and leg assisted collar choke has been working. I'm sure they'll catch on to it though and I'll have to keep adapting. Thanks again.

i wouldn't say that it is a "mistake" to cross your ankles in back mount. firstly by closing the loop you have a lot more control over the opponent. and also it is pretty trivial to escape or counter the ankle lock- you just literally extend your leg to shift the fulcrum as you dorsiflex or you can hook their foot

Haha. I am a big guy and quite slow compared to most of the young guys. So escapes are actually my main attacks at this point. Very solid defense and highly opportunistic attacking. It doesn't work all that well, not surprisingly, especially if counting points, but not bad for a white belt mostly paired up against guys with three times more experience than me. Hehe Not many partners in my size range at my low level. Defensive play isn't too bad when this is the case. So that means I am not very good, but these videos are very helpful.

I watch several channels and yours and Faria's channels are consistently so quiet I can barely hear them while sitting out in the sun on a quiet side street.
