Best review here for this little set because unlike others who just wave them around and don't really show anything... you actually show what the tools can do...and because you did such a great job, I have these on my "must have" list of tools to get . Thank you very much.

Just a little personal advice / opinion for anyone else who may be looking at this set. After excellent experience with both the Knipex Cobra (water pump) and Wrench pliers in the 250 mm (10”) size, I ordered and received Knipex's mini set on Saturday which contains the 125 mm (5”) Cobra as well as the 150 mm (6”) Wrench pliers in a nice little nylon belt case. Unfortunately, I decided to return them today because of the 125 mm Cobra. I love the size of the 150 mm Wrench pliers, but the 125 mm Cobra pliers is just a little too small to be useful in my opinion. It reminds me of those subcompact 9mm pistols where your little pinky finger feels lost and dangles off of the end looking to grasp something. That is, unless you have very small hands. I returned the otherwise nice set and instead ordered both the Wrench and Cobra pliers separately in the 150mm size. I actually paid a few dollars less for the pair of 150 mm pliers on Amazon compared to the mini set, but they don’t come with the belt pouch of course. The pouch is available by itself, but it is really expensive for what it is. ($25) I’m starting to feel a little bit like an addict, because I could see myself also getting the 180 mm, 300mm, etc. Haha! But honestly, I think 95% of everything I do can be done with the 150 mm and 250 mm sets.

@omicrondec did you get the pliers. I hope so because if not, you're really missing out. I've had the 10" for a while and absolutely can't say enough good about them except that they're too big to carry all the time.

I said that about the 125 too, until I carried it, if it can fit the nut/bolt it will turn it, with that said I also carry a 150cobra and use it far more and am looking to pick up a 150 pliers wrench now,which is why I'm here. The 100mm stuff, no thanks,but the 125 cobra is very capable.

@kevinmiller7331
@kevinmiller7331 9 жыл бұрын
You missed one of the coolest parts about the pliers wrench - they act as a pipe wrench the same way the Cobras do, in that as long as you're applying pressure to the handle that controls the lower jaw, you don't have to squeeze them at all to keep locked in position. I don't know if they'd pass the same test the Cobras did (if you had a demonstration stand with parallel surfaces), but I wouldn't be surprised if they did. I removed a very old, very corroded, threaded drain trap fitting from underneath a sink a couple weeks ago using them, and they worked like a charm. And I only had to yank on just the one handle.
@istvanmolnar7637
@istvanmolnar7637 6 жыл бұрын
I have tried it with very large nuts, and it works just as you described. although it wasn1t a force of my whole body, I only needed to put all my force into one of the handles without squeezing. Nice observation.

At 7:52 - I wish you had stood on the handle of the cobra instead of on top of the jaws. Your weight is typically on the ball of your foot which should have been on the handle. Not saying it couldn't do it but that wasn't a real test of it's strength and seemed to be misleading - no offense.
@RealToolReviews
@RealToolReviews 8 жыл бұрын
+nospamful It is a 5" long pair of pliers.....that is 1/4" wide.....if I could balance my weight on the very tip of it, I am in the wrong business --- I could be a great tightrope walker in the circus. ;)
@urjnlegend

nospamful sorry but it's impossible to stand on the ball of your foot in the way he was standing there. He clearly had the weight in the back of the foot, hence his lean. Fair test to the max

If standing on top of the handle has balance issue, i let you use a pair. How about that? That thing is not going to hold if a full grown adult stands on the handle not the jaw. I have the 10 and 12 version.

I have these in my motorcycle tool kit. The Pliers are a godsend for any nut I don't have a spanner for, they have actually been put to use on other people's bikes more than my own since all the lightweight spanners I carry fit all my bolts. I have used the Cobras on my on bike a lot more, to pull cotter pins and release clamps. I love this mini set, but the belt loop is just sitting in a box with other unused bags and pouches since the tools reside in a tool roll. The Knipex costs a lot of money and gives peace of mind for flexibility in the field, but if you have a set of wrenches at hand, it's not that useful.

Impressive. Only because,e familiar with Knipex recently because my wife needed some smooth jaw pliers for her jewelry work. That's a nice set. $92 seems like a fair deal for both the wrenches and the sheath, but I looked up both the wrenches individually and you can save a couple of bucks if you decide you don't want the sheath. I would think that size would be great for someone working out of their belt most of the time. Those wrenches seem super strong for being in such a small package. The weight to reward ratio seems awesome...

@@LamiDesignModernHousePlans4U I figured they chose these to because they both have the max capacity of SW 27. You need a bigger pliers wrench because it has parallel jaws while the Cobra is shaped for the corners. I open them up to the max and they have the same open size. guess that's why.

Knipex says 2 tools up to 150 mm or 6 inches. I have an old pair of 426 channel lock tongue and grove pliers. Amazon description says 6.5 inches but tape measure says 6.75 inches and 6/16 inch wide at widest point of grip. They easily fit inner slot and also fit outer slot with grip end first but tighter in width. Length was no problem adjusting Velcro closure. Think u could go up to 7.25 inch length wise. Knipex cobras and wrench pliers should be wider than the 426 channel locks. Think u could fit a 6 inch and a 7.25 inch with standard grips. Maybe even two 7.25 inch but it might be too tight because of width. Though I wonder whether u could put one 7.25 inch grip down plier wrench on inside and a 7.25 inch cobra grip up on outside. Would have to be standard grips as the comfort grips would just be too wide even with 6 inch models.

Funny thing....you can hear it about 4-5 different ways on the Knipex KZbin account. I say it like the German Knipex employees say it....

@@InoxEdge Knipex is the name of a German brand, but that never stopped English speakers from changing how they pronounce foreign names, look at cities like Paris. However, if you wish to respect the name, you can say it properly and you are NOT bound to the rules of pronounciation for your own language. Thus, the reviewer has the right to call it K-nipex, and you as well can call it Nipex, nobody will get hurt. Just move on. Also, since the American Knipex channel is run by Americans, of course they will pronounce it the American way. That's no suprise.

István Molnár "you are NOT bound to the rules of pronunciation for your own language" ?? You need to move on István, down to the library to get a book on linguistics.

I wouldn't buy the set because I don't want the pouch. I don't wear a belt, the loop is useless. Even if I did wear a belt I would prefer a clip over a loop because it's easier to put on and remove.

+Real Tool Reviews how so? show video where you stand on the tool? show a competitor tool that can't do what was shown in the video? I'm sure tool is great but saying it is holding your body weight when it's plainly not is a joke. you are the professor prove the student wrong.

I will clarify.....unlike most competitor brands, the Cobras have hardened teeth that dig in and don't slip....nor do they get damaged easily. While it is "possible" to use another brand to do a similar test, you cannot do it consistently and without damage to the teeth on those other brands very often. Check out the vid I made about the Cobras vs the Irwin Groovelock pliers to see how non-hardened teeth hold up to very minor use.

Knipex are excellent tools for folks who just need a mediocre product, that isn't designed too ruggedly for tough tasks...I highly recommend them for folks who have more money than brains or skill....definitely would not recommend Irwin brand for such folks, as they are designed too tough and underpriced...
