Just a little personal advice / opinion for anyone else who may be looking at this set. After excellent experience with both the Knipex Cobra (water pump) and Wrench pliers in the 250 mm (10”) size, I ordered and received Knipex's mini set on Saturday which contains the 125 mm (5”) Cobra as well as the 150 mm (6”) Wrench pliers in a nice little nylon belt case. Unfortunately, I decided to return them today because of the 125 mm Cobra. I love the size of the 150 mm Wrench pliers, but the 125 mm Cobra pliers is just a little too small to be useful in my opinion. It reminds me of those subcompact 9mm pistols where your little pinky finger feels lost and dangles off of the end looking to grasp something. That is, unless you have very small hands. I returned the otherwise nice set and instead ordered both the Wrench and Cobra pliers separately in the 150mm size. I actually paid a few dollars less for the pair of 150 mm pliers on Amazon compared to the mini set, but they don’t come with the belt pouch of course. The pouch is available by itself, but it is really expensive for what it is. ($25) I’m starting to feel a little bit like an addict, because I could see myself also getting the 180 mm, 300mm, etc. Haha! But honestly, I think 95% of everything I do can be done with the 150 mm and 250 mm sets.

I said that about the 125 too, until I carried it, if it can fit the nut/bolt it will turn it, with that said I also carry a 150cobra and use it far more and am looking to pick up a 150 pliers wrench now,which is why I'm here. The 100mm stuff, no thanks,but the 125 cobra is very capable.

@kevinmiller73319 жыл бұрын
You missed one of the coolest parts about the pliers wrench - they act as a pipe wrench the same way the Cobras do, in that as long as you're applying pressure to the handle that controls the lower jaw, you don't have to squeeze them at all to keep locked in position. I don't know if they'd pass the same test the Cobras did (if you had a demonstration stand with parallel surfaces), but I wouldn't be surprised if they did. I removed a very old, very corroded, threaded drain trap fitting from underneath a sink a couple weeks ago using them, and they worked like a charm. And I only had to yank on just the one handle.
@istvanmolnar76376 жыл бұрын
I have tried it with very large nuts, and it works just as you described. although it wasn1t a force of my whole body, I only needed to put all my force into one of the handles without squeezing. Nice observation.

At 7:52 - I wish you had stood on the handle of the cobra instead of on top of the jaws. Your weight is typically on the ball of your foot which should have been on the handle. Not saying it couldn't do it but that wasn't a real test of it's strength and seemed to be misleading - no offense.
@RealToolReviews8 жыл бұрын
+nospamful It is a 5" long pair of pliers.....that is 1/4" wide.....if I could balance my weight on the very tip of it, I am in the wrong business --- I could be a great tightrope walker in the circus. ;)

I have these in my motorcycle tool kit. The Pliers are a godsend for any nut I don't have a spanner for, they have actually been put to use on other people's bikes more than my own since all the lightweight spanners I carry fit all my bolts. I have used the Cobras on my on bike a lot more, to pull cotter pins and release clamps. I love this mini set, but the belt loop is just sitting in a box with other unused bags and pouches since the tools reside in a tool roll. The Knipex costs a lot of money and gives peace of mind for flexibility in the field, but if you have a set of wrenches at hand, it's not that useful.

Knipex says 2 tools up to 150 mm or 6 inches. I have an old pair of 426 channel lock tongue and grove pliers. Amazon description says 6.5 inches but tape measure says 6.75 inches and 6/16 inch wide at widest point of grip. They easily fit inner slot and also fit outer slot with grip end first but tighter in width. Length was no problem adjusting Velcro closure. Think u could go up to 7.25 inch length wise. Knipex cobras and wrench pliers should be wider than the 426 channel locks. Think u could fit a 6 inch and a 7.25 inch with standard grips. Maybe even two 7.25 inch but it might be too tight because of width. Though I wonder whether u could put one 7.25 inch grip down plier wrench on inside and a 7.25 inch cobra grip up on outside. Would have to be standard grips as the comfort grips would just be too wide even with 6 inch models.

I will clarify.....unlike most competitor brands, the Cobras have hardened teeth that dig in and don't slip....nor do they get damaged easily. While it is "possible" to use another brand to do a similar test, you cannot do it consistently and without damage to the teeth on those other brands very often.
