You somehow perfectly described the “decision fatigue and desire to get out of the house without wanting to spend money” on a bad mental health day, I experience this way to often lol

as an anxious human, I have never felt more seen and understood than listening to your unfiltered and very real ramblings on your anxious thoughts. I really struggle when I consume short form content too. the term emotional whiplash hits the nail on the head. This was a really fun video. It sucks to get negative comments, but it was entertaining to hear how dumb they were, I admit. You were unbelievably clear that the video in question was about ESSENTIALS, not 'nice-to-haves', or 'the best tools and accessories'. Your content is super relaxed and enjoyable, so I think any video is appreciated. Nice work!

This felt like a really good video to help you process everything. Thanks so much for being vulnerable and speaking up about your experiences on social media. Social media can be such a blessing, but there are definitely days when it feels more like a curse and can weigh so heavily! I really enjoy all of your videos and am so glad you’re here! This video warmed my heart, as do your kitties always. I too have a channel and sometimes those silly comments intended to be hurtful affect me more than I care to admit. But reminding oneself, as you said, it’s the minority and there’s soooo much good that comes out of it. Anyway, I hope you have a great week! Excited to see how this new project evolves!

The inner conflict about consumption is so real. I 100% agree with all the stuff you said about overconsumption and guilt about not thrifting something. I feel that! I think some of that guilt is valid and important but at a certain point we gotta enjoy life. I justify it by knowing that I am going to purchase from a small company and that money is more likely to go back into my local economy, stuff like that. Good video, I really resonate with all the stuff you're saying

Hi Isabella, i just watched the Essetial vs. Extra Video (all the way to the end as you can see) and i can not believe that anyone actually got any of it so wrong. I was almost annoyed at how often you said that this was YOUR opinion and that anyone should have anything they desire and can afford to own. I loved your categories and agree on most, i do own several pairs of scissors and some (selfmade) project bags though. As i can not use metal knitting needles - they hurt my hands and i can not tolerate the sound - I am using bamboo and wood, i do not own double pointed needles, i use two circulars and do a cross between dpn and magic loop knitting. The yarn you bought is very pretty, although it´s way out of my colour scheme, i wish you many hours of happiness knitting with it. I am glad i found your channel today, for many reasons. All the best, Pinguinpullover / Su

I'm not an expert on mental health, just a fellow crafter struggling with my own demons, but it sounds as if you have found a way to not let yourself get dragged under by negative comments directed at you. Maybe it'd be a good idea to examine that and try to find out why you had such a strong reaction to the negative comments on other peoples videos, and if you can find a way to have the same "shake it off" attitude in those situations. Watching short form content can be jarring, like you say, and negative comments are unnecessary, but as fun as shopping therapy can be, it's probably not the best way for your wallet to deal with triggers in the long run. All that to say, how are you not affected by negative comments directed at you, and can you teach me your ways?

I never understand negative comments. If people don’t like what they see, they should stop the video and watch something else. I think it says more about the commenter than the video. The video that started with the coffee mug first (have to be honest) made me roll my eyes. But then you nailed it, I laughed out loud. Stay who you are. With a full time job don’t get burned out on youtube please. I feel that YT is pushing creators to keep pooping out content.And we love to watch. But hey, you are one person creating an entire production. Not just talking and showing what you do. There is light, camera angles, fantastic editing. It is multiple jobs that take time. Do what feels good to you. And whether you skip a vid or more, it is fine. You are the boss! Soooo many things I want to say :D First off, I can relate sooooo much. I also buy yarn when I want to feel better but I'm trying not to do this too often 😅And I have never bought any yarn at 30$ per hank. But hey, it IS absolutely gorgeous and I hope to see what it looks like knit up when you get to it 🥰 I'm currently working with my most expensive yarn yet, Malabrigo Rios in Matisse Blue, and I just LOVE it. Also, I love the cat content. Merry and Pippin are STARS. And one on-topic comment about winding yarn - I saw a video once where a lady explained that she winds her yarn twice (from hank to cake and then from cake into another cake) as this makes the cake less tight, so it doesn't stretch out the yarn.
@BreathingYarn7 ай бұрын
Especially with my old winder, I'd have to wind everything twice because it would be soooo tight and it would just be wonky. I think my new winder is a little better, but this is a good reminder that I should keep up the habit. Especially since winding a wound ball takes less than two minutes.

I unfortunately couldn't tell your cats apart 😢 but they're cute all the same 🤭 What you said on short media content resonated, maybe with a different angle though. I found that being on Instagram more than five minutes, even if I'm not scrolling on random reels and just watching the stories and posts of people I follow and that I'm interested in, gets me in a bad mood. I feel I'm losing my time, which is a feeling I don't get when watching several (longer) KZbin videos in a row. And it clicked at the very end of your video, when it didn't when you actually talked about having finished your sweater, because I was focused on the fact you mostly use cotton because wool itches you (if I'm not misinterpreting what you said)... The fact that it's a really great thing to make a cotton sweater. Like, in my mind, a knitted sweater for fall/winter would be bound to be knitted in wool, and a lighter sweater would be sewn. But when fall comes I never have as much lighter sweaters as I would want, and I don't grant sewing as much of my time as knitting (because sewing doesn't calm me as much as knitting does) so I've never sewn enough light sweaters. But 😱 now I can just knit cotton sweaters. 🙃 Thanks for your video!

Woolfolk yarn is insanely comfy and lovely but expensive! Since it pills easily I like it for hats and scarves ❤

That's good to know! I'm glad someone else can share their experience with the yarn. Luckily, I dont mind pilling too much, so I am really glad to hear that it's a comfy yarn.

Okay, but pippin playing with your yarn totally made my day. They’re so cute! Also your swatch totally made me realize that I can always work with my gauge and adjust to it! Why didn’t I ever think of that? Thanks for sharing that info!
@BreathingYarn7 ай бұрын
Oh heck yea! I feel like I never bother checking the needle size and gauge on patterns until after I swatch 😂 it started as carelessness and is now “my process” lol.

I think, if you haven’t, you should watch the show “The good place” which I feel like touches super beautifully and deeply on the paralysis of indecision. Super strong recommend

The Good Place will forever be on my top 10 favorite shows forever! I love how they explained complex human experiences and philosophy in such an accessible way. I totally agree

There are so many “rescue kitten” videos. I question them. Sorry

The people that insult are just doing it to bring others down. Misery loves company. Way to be above it.

I’m happy to hear your wooden knit pro swift is just as squeaky as mine 😂 It’s making me very happy to see you enjoying your new yarn so very much - I hope the project will be most comfy and make you happy! Also: here for the cat content. 😆 Love from Prague! K.

Thanks for being so open about your struggles. Sometimes you really do have to do a little treat yourself. As much as I also try to be mindful of my consumption, it's still nice to get a little bit of retail therapy. Everything in moderation, including moderation! (Also, I hope this isn't creepy, but I think we have the same local yarn store! My childhood orthodontist is a few doors down from it lol)

Gotta say, I too love your aesthetic and you reminded me of a story: I once went semi-viral for a picture of a waterfall. I had posted, to a local news site, a side-by-side comparison of our local (rather famous) waterfall before and after a storm. The site reposted it and that's when it went viral. Most comments were "wow, isn't nature amazing" type stuff. And then there were the handful of just deeply unhappy people who started examining the photos and yelling about how I had clearly photoshopped them (I hadn't) or the pictures must have been taken months apart (it was 8 days). It was all so silly. Like, what incentive do I have to fake a waterfall picture? That day I learned that the internet is a weird place and some people are just very unhappy. I'm glad I have cats and yarn to retreat to when it all gets to be too much.

Wow, that's wild! I waterfall photo of all things, what a perfect example of just how beautiful and simultaneously silly the internet can be.

Ohhh thanks for putting the short form video feed experience in words, that's one of the reasons I hate it so much! The lack of conrol too, also algorithms sucks. And then if you take a step back and kinda observe the soundscape of scrolling those reels - it's SO chaotic! Short loud bursts of unrelated sounds, my brain honestly just can't take it. So I'm definitely with you there.

It’s an overstimulation nightmare 😂

Your videos are informative and entertaining, and you can never go wrong with kitties. You did yourself a favor by leaving the house, having on clothes you like and doing something you enjoy. It will always lift your spirits at least a bit and as far as negative comments that reflects more about where that person is in their life not you. Hope you continue to make enjoyable content as you creatively have energy and desire to do so.🧶🌻☀

Glad to hear that the negative comments on your video did not affect your mental health. Sometimes it’s just noise. 🧡 I adore your cats. They add an additional layer of calm to your videos. I almost got everything right at your little quiz. 😂 ~ Kat

That’s impressive. My husband only got 7/9 😂 and he’s the biggest cat dad ever.
