Once again, another awesome instructional video Staci! Really appreciate the little "special tips" i.e. the type of receptacle to hold the beads, the size of the crochet hook, etc. little but powerful tips - thank you!

This is incredibly simple. When crocheting beads into your work, I've learned that you string on all the beads before you start so you can easily grab them when you want. I'm glad that knitting with beads can be so simple. I'm definitely going to try this! Thanks!

Staci, you always make everything so clear! Thank you so very much for your videos. Since I discovered 'Very Pink,' it has become my go-to for knitting help and I've recommended it to everyone in my FB knitting group and my local ladies knitting/crochet group as well as my DIL who only crochets. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the help! I'm planning on adding some beads to my daughter's christening gown in certain places in the lace design. I love the Christmas balls...I'll have to check those out.

Thank you for posting this. I just purchased some very tiny little crochet hooks so I can be ready when I start on my beaded scarf. Greatly appreciated.

The Christmas Balls ended up looking so cool in the video -- I think the red and white with the white background turned out awesome -- must have been difficult to do. Well, probably not for Parker. I use my reading glasses case for the beads -- because it has a dark background and that curved edge that helps scoop them up!

They are both correct ways of adding beads, just different. I prefer to use the crochet hook, if the pattern gives me a choice. If you're making a project with many beads, stringing them all on before you start knitting and keeping them moving down the yarn (as you knit and use up yarn), I find to be cumbersome. The finished work is different - when you pre-string the beads, they end up on the bar between stitches. When you use the crochet hook, they are around the stitch.

This video does demonstrate knitting the beads into your work. If you're working on a project where you've pre-strung the beads, that's a little different. Instead of knitting the beads in, you just slide a bead up the yarn next to the last stitch you knit, then work the next stitch. Pre-strung beads actually sit between stitches.

Hi! Well You can also used a dental frost instead of the crochet hook... Pre-strung your beads on to it, then with the hard side slide the bead on the stitch... Also when the beads, usually smaller, are Pre-strung to your yarn you can slip them on the "yarn over" onto your lace pattern.. I hope you overstand my explanations... Thank You so so much for all your videos.. I have learn SO MUCH with you.. Keep UP the good work.

Ahh, Asian tea cups. I have a set that I hardly ever use to actually sip tea from, they're great for pretty much everything else. Great kid dipping bowls, holding spices for cooking, dropping screw into when you're working on computer or car parts, they're amazing. ^_^ Small miso bowls with lids work well for this, too.

I knitted a silver scarf and finished it, blocked and ends worked in. One problem: I had purchased these lovely dark gray crystal beads to be put on either end of the scarf. I wish I had known how easily I could sew in the beads with the crochet hook. From now on, I will. I was thinking of a simple snowflake design made out of these beads. Is there any way to still go back and sew them on? Oh, the pattern is 3 or 4 garter sts border. The body is stockingette. Thank you!

hi Staci. I am wondering how many ways are there to add beads into our knitting project. I've seen your video and the others as well. Your way is using crochet hooks, and the other just line the beads to the yarn before start knitting. I am confused now. I don't know which one is the right one. If both ways are correct, what is the difference between both ways? you know what I mean? thanks

Hi Staci, I'm thinking of using some sock yarn to knit a jeweled cowl. Can you tell me what is the method of figuring out what size bead to use with what size yarn.
@verypinkknits9 жыл бұрын
Knitsforsanity - I don't know of any rule of thumb, but make sure the bead is large enough for a single or double stringing of the yarn (depending on how you're attaching the beads) fits through the hole.
@dakotalandandcattle8 жыл бұрын
My opinion is that it is a very fine line between big enough for the yarn to pass and too big where the beads become a negative in relation to the knitting. I always go for as small as I can pass a loop of the yarn through. I have found a size 6 pony bead works well but takes patience and have also use 4mm crystal beads also. I done both the stringing and crochet hook method and the stringing method can be very hard on lace yarns, carrying all those beads through.
