Im 13 years old, I started Crocheting when i was 8 at a club in school and ive decided to try learning to knit since there are so many different options and also it uses a LOT less wool. I got so mad at the first part of the little series thingy you did (the how to knit for beginners video) because i couldnt figure out how to cast on properly and then make the stitches but now im having a lot of fun. Im not actually making something right now though since im using 4mm wool and 4mm sticks and in the other video i paused right before you said “11 stitches is enough, dont cover the whole knitting stick in yarn or you’ll get confused” (or something along those lines) only to realise i got a bit carried away and ended up doing 35 stitches.

Congrats on your first scarf! I'd look for a garter stitch shawl, so you're learning about the shape rather than shape and new stitches. We actually have one in the shop as a kit or pattern for beginners: knitwithhannah.co.uk/product-category/beginner/beginners-scarves

I know I am being daft buy no idea what to do with the dangle bits that are left. Are we to use tapestry needle to thread it through that last row? Your videos have been a huge help to get me started! Took to knitting quite well so bigger projects in the future. X

What do you do with the little loopy thing on the end???
@KnitWithHannah
@KnitWithHannah 6 жыл бұрын
Great question, this is when I suggest this tutorial... kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYmaZoFqgrh-jNk It will help you finish your knitting tidily, and no ends of yarn will be showing or hanging loose.

@@KnitWithHannah I am familiar with weaving in the ends, I have been crocheting for 40 years, but just never got the hang of knitting. The loop on the end is what bothers me, I don't think it's supposed to be there but I don't know how I am creating it??
@KnitWithHannah
@KnitWithHannah 6 жыл бұрын
@@khancock52 It's likely to be there for most projects as you cast off as the last stitch holds one piece of yarn, instead of two (which is what creates all the other stitches- as in crochet) If you're getting loops at the ends of rows that isn't unusual as you being knitting and will happen less and less as your tension improves. The video from a few weeks ago, Knitting Styles might help more with that. But it's time and practice that will help most. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mIDcq6Z-pZiEq8U

@@khancock52 With every stitch when you're casting off the next stitch is holding the previous stitch in place. So in that respect it's like crochet. But with the last stitch there's nothing to hold it in place expect for the single thread of yarn that secures it from unravelling. The weaving in will help most, just pull the final loop into the fabric as you finish. And there's also the option to not actually knit the last stitch so there's less yarn, just move it over to the right hand needle and pass the first stitch over the second as with the rest of the row, there'll be less yarn to loop out of control then. Happy Knitting!
@khancock52

@@KnitWithHannah I was able to fix it some what but I do notice that it has something to do with the very first stitch that I put on the needle. It's like its not connected to the previous stitch when I get to the end of the row?
