I have two. The 940-1 and 535 Bugout with Caveman's scales. It's not because of my impulse control, it's just hard for me to connect with most knives. Only the 940 and 535 made me feel a real connection, the others I can't get into for one reason or another. My Five top knives to carry: 1. ENZO TRAPPER in ELMAX steel. ELMAX holds the best edge of all the steels available. Plus, it is highly resistant to rust. On the downside, it is NOT easy to resharpen, but since you will be sharpening it much less than other steels, it works out to your betterment. BEST OF ALL it comes in at $167 US dollars. It is the least expensive of all the TOP Quality knives, and it arrives at your door RAZOR sharp!!! 2. BOKER 115465 CARVER'S CONGRESS WHITTLER POCKET KNIFE (If you cannot afford $60 for a multi-blade whittler, then get the $20 BUCK LINEMAN). The Boker Congress has a Sheepfoot, Spey, Pen and, Coping blade, and this is good quality steel that will hold an edge. The downside to this knife is that I don't really need a Spey blade. I'm not going to be Spaying any animals. I'd much rather it have a Wharncliffe blade instead for really fine work. The Wharncliffe blade is a type of Sheepfoot blade, but rather than sort and stocky like the sheepfoot, which makes it great for long cutting strokes, it is long and thin at the end, perfect for getting into small places and doing detail work. For $12 more you can pick up the American made CASE POCKET WHITTLER, it has the Wharncliffe, pen, and coping blades, but no sheepsfoot, nor a spy. Either is a great pocket knife to have. 3. CRKT MAHCHET This is the only big knife I'd carry. It has a nice curved cutting edge ending into a VERY dangerous point for poking, boring wood or leather etc.. It is also handy for dressing game and for food prep. The curved blade makes it really a nice chefs knife for cutting meat or vegetables. It has a thick, heavy blade with a CONVEX cutting edge that is GREAT for chopping, splitting and battening wood. It is a full tang with simple wooden handles riveted to the sides. It fits the hand well and will not come out of your hand unless you have butter fingers. There is a lanyard hole but not as big as I'd like, and not Counter sunk either. If you are going to be hacking with this knife you should have a lanyard around your wrist so you can't lose it. 4. FLEXCUT CARVING JACK This is the best multitool for what it does ANYWHERE. It comes with a formed leather strop and compound so you can sharpen it anywhere, which is a REALLY GREAT THING TO HAVE, trust me on that, it is HELL to strop a curved blade, the one provided makes it so easy it should be illegal. Also, all blades LOCK INTO PLACE. The steel is quality steel and the tools won't bend when used changing the angle of attack of your cut. It is a stable took to use and is well designed with almost every carving tool you will need. 5. LEATHERMAN SUPER TOOL 300. Its only weakness is there are no scissors. It has the usual screwdrivers and needle-nose pliers, but also a can opener, saw with Jap back-pull teeth, a file, leather awl, plus two blades, a standard utility cutting blade and a serrated edge cutting blade. Plus, all tools LOCK INTO PLACE. This makes it a vary sable tool to use, no slipping or worry for you. These five will get you into and out of almost any situation a survivalist can imagine. If you want to survive, have these 5 period!!!

Damn memories. I got my first folding knife on Dec. 2015 for $0.48 or ₱25. Kinda look like a garbage know. It looks like a crap now. I could buy a new knife one of these days but I can't replace that trash blade. Worn out many times, sharpen it a lot, repair the handle a lot of time. And I can't still throw it away because I used it a lot of time, for almost 3 years know. It helps me when I'm traveling, when my classmate needs to cut something, I lend it to them. This crappy knife holds many memories of my college days. I was like second year college when I bought it, and know I graduated, I still have this blade. When I look at it, I remember all precious mempries of my hardships. So, yeah, they may think knives as a weapon, but for us knife fanatics, this thing holds many precious memories in our life.

So my mother had to purchase it for me. This of course meant that it was given to me along with a list of rules I had to follow! 1. I was not to play with it as if it was a toy. 2. I was not allowed to take it to school with me. 3. I could only wear it on my Scout Belt clip to Scout meetings or Scout field trips. I kept it in "mint condition". It is not the best knife in the world however to me it is the "prettiest"!!! Lol!!!! I have two of them . I don't use them but I enjoy looking at them! Lol!!!

Old video Ben, but good opportunity to say my first knife was a Boy Scout Knife, although I was in Cub Scouts. I seem to remember it being brown. I was only 5 or 6 years old, I was trying to cut the outside off a tennis ball and slipped, sliced my left index finger to the bone and was terrified I ran to the bathroom held it closed under water and somehow got a band aid on it. I was so afraid to tell my parents as I thought they would take my knife away. I still have a scar on my finger to this day, close to 60 years later...but it taught me a very important lesson about edge tools in general and how we should always cut away from ourselves...whittling is an exception...I unfortunately don't have the knife, it has been long lost...but I did carve my first pinewood derby with it! And the safety paid off, cause I went on to disassemble stuff like golf balls, and I do have one special knife still to this day...in my tackle box...hunting knife with leather ring handle, could be made out of pot metal...I sharpened it so many times to clean fish, it is the worst steel of any knife I own, my Dads initials are on the sheath...I don't use it, but will always have it and give it to my son...

Love the collection! I can talk about my knife collection and recall details for each knife I have too. For your next knife do you plan on buying it, stealing it, or wait for one to be gifted to you (not including the spyderco from this video)?

My favorite aspect of this video is that there is not one ZT, not one Sebenza , not one Norseman... I have clearly been hanging out on Reddit too much, and it has warped my perspective. I don't think I will ever own one of those knives. Ben, your collection makes me feel like a regular guy. Now my collection doesn't feel inadequate. Thanks! Thanks for sharing with us.

I like how you know the story behind almost all the knives. What’s your dream knife? Oh, and #JusticeForMatthew

I'm a collector, my turnover rate is under 1%, if I buy it, it stays in my collection.

Same. Unless it's an incredibly crappy knife, then it just kind of goes away...

Can’t believe I saw the CRKT igniter, I received it as a gift and was one of my favorite knives and it was taken and lost so I never knew what it was called until today, years later.
