Absolutely agree. A flat grind for strength, a flat spot at the spine so my Lansky resharpens well, great belly and drop point style pattern for all around general use. Excellent on piercing, slashing, slicing. Couldn't ask for more

Yes, check out the Benchmade Non Conformist in the Harley Davidson series. It is an auto knife done exactly as the Ruckus except in aluminum handles. It looks like a beauty. I would recommend picking one up before it is too late again.

Good observation. I have nothing against fixed blade knives and do own some, but the folding knife is much more easily carried and thus is the one more often at hand for the chore. Those knives that are used more are more likely to become favorite and that is how it happened. I guess I just use folders more than fixed blades.

nice vid, bob...my current fav is the spyderco barong, and when spyderco discontinued that model i bought a few extra to have a lifetime supply! its surprising how many good designs are discontinued...get 'em while you can!

@belzach I am sure it is a fine knife. Mantis has some good products and a good reputation, so if you like it I would not hesitate. Sadly, the Benchmade Rukus is discontinued so it is not surprising you can't find one.

@EnduringEagle Sadly the 610 Rukus cannot be had now except on the secondary market, maybe at a knife show. The Rajah 1 is gone as well but only recently, so there may be some hanging around on the knife forums. CS was blowing them out for $99 but even those are gone now. You can still get the Rajah 2 though.

Cold Steel Voyagers are awesome. I own the Cold Steel Large Clip Point Voyager, and it is still sharp, after several months without sharpening. Love the look of the Benchmade Ruckus. And that thumbstud is pretty close to the blade, as opposed to being near the spine of the knife, for quicker deployment. Just wish Benchmade lowered the price on their knives, I find $100-$300+ for a knife a little too much.

Great collection. It is amazing that many of these knives are not available anymore and that some of these companies are no longer around. Evidently a great knife is not necessarily a "popular" knife from a marketing perspective. I like the BM Rukas. Is it possible to order one and can the Rajah I still be ordered?

Personally, I see the number one knife as first and all the others as sharing second place. I don't see the 10th knife as being last in line or less well liked than number 9 and 8. I picked ten because it was a nice round number to use, but did not intend to say that there was any ranking among them. Just because Letterman starts from 10 doesn't mean everyone has to.

I have the Ruckus with green micarta and the black blade 154cm steel like most benchmades. Careful when it's in your pocket using your thumb to grap it the meaty part of ur thumb can easily get inside the handle frame and mess you up, also the top of the blade middle way down and near the tip is also sharp as a razor as well. I think this may be why they discontinued this model. I learned the hard way and about bled to death. jk but I did leave a nice wound on my thumb.

@anhtransport a butterfly knife or a classic 3 incher would be cool. If u get a butterfly knife though, it takes a lot of practice to open and close and to do those fancy little tricks with it.

@h4h4h4 Basically wherever. I will often carry in the cargo pocket of cargo pants/shorts or in ruler pocket of carpenter jeans, coat pocket, briefcase, etc.... I try to avoid front pocket though as it can can sometimes get annoying depending on size/weight of knife.

@whateverfast22 The Case Cheetah knife is a swing guard. I have one of those too and it is a nice knife. I also have an old Schatt & Morgan swing guard but I think you would have better luck finding the Case.

@xnickx29 The Rukus 610 has been my fav for a long time now and I just haven't found another folder yet that beats it. There are plenty that are just as good, but many of them are more expensive than the 610 was.

@SNAFU111999 I did like the double duty a lot and did a review on it. I like the concept of thumb studs on a pocket knife. To make it perfect (IMO) I would have preferred it was not an open frame design. I like my pocket knives with a solid back. Old fashioned, I guess.

Hello Bob, Almost but no cigars, I have the Rajah1, my camillus is the Silver Sword Stockman well its a 3 blade slip joint I believe its the 01706-c carbon steel and Its my edc I luv it, my Case is a canoe, my 5 blade is a Steel Warrior, and my Swiss Army they are, well Swiss Army.like I said close but no cigars, but one out of ten, not bad ah? @nls8520 You could try the blade forums on the internet, the usual suspects and blade shows or maybe even e-bay. I don't know of anywhere in particular more likely to have one than another. If youhave no luck check out my review of the Blackhawk Hornet. It is still a good knife, just different materials and steel.
