Did it Northbound too. 5 days and only cached water. Had time to explore splinter trails a couple times. Saw people only 3 times.

It’s definitely challenging, but I think all local backpackers should do this trail! Thanks for sharing!

I took a week vacation from both of my jobs and I plan on hiking this trail in September. I’ve really been wanting to do a multi day hike for a long time.

It’s a nice trail. Check out the Adventure Trail in O’Bannon state park, it’s my fav trail in Indiana. Have fun!

Made the trek in 3.5 days and totally kicked my butt seriously. Made the trip in early spring and water wasn’t an issue. Haven’t been through since the tornado though.

It’s a nice trail, definitely not my favorite, but it is a must do for Hoosiers!

Great video! I'm going to have to watch it again and take notes. A couple questions... 1) Did you find any sections of the trail overgrown or hard to navigate? 2) What kind of containers did you use for your food and water drops? Did you pack them out or drive back to pick them up? Been going back and forth between Tecumseh and the Knobstone... Can't decide which to tackle next month.

+EO Hikes Thanks!! Glad you enjoyed it, hope it helps! There weren’t any parts of the trail that were overgrown but there were some places where it was relatively easy to get confused. The trail is well mart and very visible nearly the entire way. I could see in the fall when the leaves are covering that it could get very tricky. We each had all of our food in gallon Ziploc bags which we put inside of a black utility trash bag and hung it from a tree away from the trailhead with para cord. We started out with the Tecumseh trail first. It’s about the same length but it is a little easier, tough but easier than the Knobstone. There is a video of our Tecumseh hike also. Check that out if you haven’t.

how did you prep your food and cook kit for the drop
@Bluehathiker3 жыл бұрын
We just hung some of our food near a couple of trailheads. Slightly hidden. Had no problems. Not sure what you mean with the cook kit.

Is it necessary for drops on this trail? Are there many water sources along or near the trail?
@Bluehathiker4 жыл бұрын
Definitely not necessary but it can help save weight or allow you to take some nice luxury items!
