What does it mean that electrones are in a destrictive phase, is it that electrones of Hidrogen are in diferent places in the atom so they can not bond?

I like the lectures! I found it confusing though that you left the electrons in the mid-section of the wave-diagram. It looks like there are 4 electrons in the h2... :)

So the bond order in the ionised hydrogen molecule H2+ is 0.5 because the bond order is the number of electrons in bonding molecular orbitals subtracted from the number of electrons in the anti bonding molecular orbitals divided by 2 and if there is only one electron in the bonding molecular orbital and none in the anti bonding molecular orbitals 1-0 = 1/2 =a bond order of 0.5.

Could you help me to solve this question: how many atomic orbitals are required to construct the molecular orbital for 1.CH3- ,C2H2(ACETYLENE), CH2O(FORMALDEHYDE) by using STO-3G basis set ?

just one question, PLEASE ANSWER if only 1 electron is moved to antibonding molecular orbital by absorbing energy, would it break the bond? or both electrons needs to be in antibonding orbital for the bond to be broken?
