I completely understand. Me and my mother are building our relationship back up. She's there for me it took 2 years and my favorite cousin's piece of crap significant other, taking advantage of me. Then accidentally blessing me with My Little Man. Then a relationship with a newborn bitch. To save My Little Man and myself, from the abuse. Now I'm trying to build myself up so I can get my own place, for My Little Man and myself. I'm also mentally disabled. So I got a few struggles I'm trying to break free from. I'm also working on writing a book kinda sorta a biography about myself but I want to do it private. I hope one day I could help people and or children to battle their struggles and also help prevent suicide. It really does destroy the family.

You are what a Man should really be if you stick to your children. Nowadays the question of what a Man is becomes more and more important, but at the end of the day it's the very basics that should matter no matter how you do this and with whom. Be a Father, a guide and caretaker but also emotionally connected to your kids. be soft to your kids and not just the hard tough guy. Stay with them and make sure they are Ok no matter what. no matter if you do it alone or if they are biologically yours or adopted. To stand with them and be there is what being a parent means and what a Man with children should be. Keep being there. :)

Shows incredible maturity. Eminem's growing. My parents were heroin addicts, I didn't talk to them for over 30 years. But I made peace within two years of both of them dying. Best thing I ever did. That's what this reminds me of. Good for M&M. It's about growing and maturing, and taking care of yourself in the end. Hafta remember the scars but rise above it

I cry every single time I listen to this song. Coming from a dysfunctional childhood & divorced parents & a dad who didn’t want me since birth, I understand that feeling at the end where you got tearful. It’s hard. Me & my mom butted heads badly bc she always choose men over her kids & I never understood them but my mom has always been sick with cancer & couldn’t work & needed someone to support her. & now she’s not got long to live from this round of cancer & she tells me everyday that she needs me now. It’s so tough but that’s my mom.

This is one of my favourites off of The Marshall Mathers LP 2, and it's such a heartwarming song to Em's mom. Even though they had some ups and downs, at the end, he still loves her no matter what, and it's amazing how Em was able to mature that much to be able to forgive his mom like this. The end really hit me hard, since they parted ways after hugging, and it'll be a while before they can be reunited again, but he'll love her from far away, even if they can't be together for a while. And the crazy thing is, he released this song and video on Mother's Day of 2014. I hope his mom saw this not gonna lie

The line "Now the medication's taking over and your mental state's deteriorating slow and I'm way too old to cry, this shit is painful! But Ma, I forgive you", if I replace Ma with Dad I can literally relate to that sentiment. This song got to me in a very deep and personal level the first time I heard it. But now that my father is gone and I couldn't say goodbye and tell him that my brother and I loved and forgave him... man, it breaks my heart and I can't help but cry. Eminem always knows better than anyone how to express the most raw and real emotions. I'm sorry this got to you as well because of your personal experience. Sending you my love, Knox.

Sadly, my Mom passed away in 2017, but I'm glad we made amends and were on better terms with each other before her passing. Ladies and gentlemen! Life's too short to seriously let the small shit and BS drama, get in your way of your relationship with friends and family. Once they're gone (you and I included), it's over and done. Nothing is worse, than living without closure. I know that through a personal experience with my Dad, who passed away in 2001. I felt every word he said in this song too, i had a terrible relationship with my mom, my dad passed in 1998 and that after there divorce but before his death, sent me on a depression that is still ongoing to this day, i was 6 when my parents got divorced, and then when he passed in 1998, my heart broke. like it shattered.. then 11 years passed and everything seemed to be gettin a little betytyer, although my mother had made me homeless at 16, me and my mom had such a toxic relationshipm that by the time she passed in 2006, in a hospice, the same day beforew she passed, i went to see her. and spoke to her, but we both got enraged and i basically condemned her to die and said i didnt care that she wont be here no more, my life would be better off without her.... it isnt. i miss her more then i ever thought. and when em says "I will always love you from afar, 'cause you're my mom". i break down. and i thank her every time now, and apologise. now im not a religeous person, i believe once your dead, thats it your done. and it hurts me knowing that i can NEVER apologise to her and ask for forgiveness for my actions and the words i spoke.

I don't know why the end verse from Nate wasn't put in because it's truly my favorite part and puts a different weight to the song, on Em's soul. It makes me cry but also start of lifts me in a cathartic way. Like an invasive thought finally being expressed.. Headlights is such an emotionally raw and personal story being shared that is something so universally shared. This song has always touched me.. I cried with you watching you share the emotional ride. Although I hoped to see your reaction to Nate Russ' final verse. Have you ever heard the song Beautiful by Eminem?

Your analysis is spot on. I have been through similar circumstances with my father, mother, and sister. Eminem helped me through a lot as a teenager. I had lots of problems with my mom. My father was never really there for me growing up, and I always blamed my mom or myself for why he wasn’t around. That eventually built up to a point when my kids were very young and I stopped talking to my mom for about a year. Then one night driving in the car, It seems like forever ago now, “Headlights” came on the radio, and I had to pull the car over and cried for a bit. All the hate I had in my heart for the struggles I had to endure growing up; the physical and emotional scars I have carried all these years where no longer on my mom. She had done her best and sacrificed much for herself to make sure my sister and I had what we needed. Our relationship since has never been stronger. I’ve been lucky enough to be able to not let more than a few days pass without calling her to tell her I love her and that she’s special. I will urge anyone that has problems with their parents to please do some inner reflecting and make a amends. It’s well worth it.

It's a pity that the music-video cuts off the last parts of Nate's verse. It's so beautiful and the lyrics "I want a new life, one without a cause" ... damn, those always hit me even if the rest of the song occasionally leaves me dry-eyed. I like this song a lot. This and "Bad Husband" are, for me personally, the most "mature" songs he has put out. Not that he's got no mature content otherwise (and I mean it not in the x-rated meaning of "mature" - which, of course, he has, too 🤭) but Headlights and Bad Husband show the difference between being an angry twenty-something-punk with LOADS of issues and a forty-something-punk with still a lot of issues but better overall balance and understanding. It's why I always laugh internally when people say that rap is a young man's game... Bullshit. It's different subjects and different perspectives than a young guy would have on life, but that doesn'T mean there's no room for rap-content just because you get older. It's not like you drop dead the moment you turn forty! There's still life to live and things to get pissed about. Also, I agree to all the comments begging for "Bad Guy". In general, I'd love more songs from MMLP2 to appear on your reaction-list.

I’ve heard this before ( I’m a Stan of course ) but bro I had tears when you break them down, you are the best reactor that actually takes the time and breaking bars down and love it when I get notification from you dropping a video, kind of made my day especially Eminem’s ones. You are the best, last time I commented on one of your reaction the first time I found you on KZbin, said that you are in my top 5 Reactors. I’m delighted to say now that you are the my NUMBER 1. Happy thanksgiving from Dublin, Ireland bro. Hope you find this comment well.

Me too bro. I can't help myself. It's too much for me for what I did it the past with my mom. I'm getting emotional right now. I'm happy for Em. He realized it, come hell or highwater, still...at the end of the day. She's your/our MOM. The best Em's song...ever!

I can't watch/listen to this song without tearing up or feel massive pressure in the back of my throat. I'm glad Em is finally ok with his mom. And seeing how proud she was that Em got inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, brings me so much happiness.

Best reaction I’ve ever seen. I’ve never taken the time to break down meanings. When you lost it I lost it. Thank you for not fronting, letting those emotions show. Much respect Knox

God damn. I've heard this song multiple times before but it huts just as hard everytime. I loved your breakdown of it and I was crying right alongside you man! I've never been too close to my parents and can empathize with that hatred for a father figure that would cause the situations Em went through. I luckily have a decent relationship with my mother, but this song nonetheless kills me every time I listen to it.

Dude it was great seeing your raw emotional reaction to this song. It was the most shocking song I’ve ever heard from him, and hearing his maturity as someone growing up with Eminem in my life from a young age, this is the song that hits the heart strings every time.

This song always makes me cry. My dad was not a good dad and when I was 16 I cut ties with him (I have the best mom). However when I got pregnant I made the decission that my son should have the chance to know his granddad - and things were good for years, but when my son was 8 my dad started doing the same shit to my son as he did to me: breaking promises, ignoring him, making it obvious to my son that he wasn’t important enough to him any longer. And that pissed me off and I cut ties with him again, because nobody is treating my son that way! Once in a while people will ask me if I will let him back into our lifes again if he apologises and I just say no, because I gave him that ladt chance once and he blew it. But I still miss having a dad.....

"And only one has met their grandmother, me her and Nate" the fact that he doesn't mention either haillie or alaina shows that he doesn't what the world to know who it is as when he kept mentioning haillie in his songs she got a lot of stick. It shows the respect he has for the people close to him

Eminem has all kind of songs. Unbelievable. I'm without words. Portugal here for the Goat Eminem. Always learning from him. Fan since day 1, till forever. Eminem got us all the time or sometimes, right. We can relate to 99 per cent of his songs. That's why he is the Goat, like our family member since day 1. Respect.
