I love how Mirabel doing a recap of everyone's powers pulls triple duty - it's an in-universe avoidance of talking about her own power, it's a character beat that clues the audience in that Mirabel is hiding something if they hadn't already noticed (and how she feels about her status in her family), BUT MOSTLY it's a crucial repetition that helps fix all these people they've just learned about in the audience's mind. This song is just so good at doing everything it's supposed to do.

I speculate that Mirabel's gift is communicating with the house. She's the only one to seem to be able to communicate with (like fully understand) the movement of the house. Like when she went into Bruno's tower, and the tiles waved. She knew they were saying that they can't help in there.. Finally got around to watching Encanto recently. Best decision I’ve ever made as a Disney fan and a hip-hop fan. I swear, once you know that Lin-Manuel has written something you can just hear it in the lyrics. I don’t know what it is. Also, Knox, as a British guy in love with Spanish spoken culture and has been learning Spanish since high school, I appreciate you putting on the Spanish accent for certain words. I’m weird in a way that when someone speaks a second language without putting the accent on it triggers me I don’t know what it is. 😂😂😂
