CB LS When a video of a pre-pre-pre-pre-alpha dummy test focused on just a few of the new features is better than ≥20-50% of other games.

You make a good point and these liquid physics are better than other a lot of other games that have millions of £ backing for developing things like it. This is well and truly a one of a kind game and you can't say that much anymore. Good job knucracker its awesome.

Have you considered rendering density rather than just shear height? Like when to reach the maximum height, instead of going up higher it starts to change to a deeper color, or go to purple, it would get more dense and be harder to destroy, offering the same game play feature and making it easier to see.

Could even be exponentiall curving toward a certain value. Density is not TOO hard a thing to render anyways.

Looks very impressive if anything - the creeper comes off as a little... too liquid - the creeper in CW3 didn't flow this fast. You risk players being overwhelmed very quickly. that said, introducing liquid physics like this opens up for a ton of new gameplay options, like building a dam and then trying to control the flow.

Yeah in the previous games, creeper had a more jello-like feel.

He did mention it might be moving too fast and that he had control over the variables which changes the movement of the creeper and all. He'll likely nail it down on gameplay tests. I think having it liquid like that helps test the liquid physics.

@@Aidiakapi what's the difference between the isometric viewpoint and what you said?
@Aidiakapi
@Aidiakapi 6 жыл бұрын
@@BlueNEXUSGaming Good question. Isometric is a kind of projection (method of turning a 3D world into your 2D screen). However, it is a parallel projection, which means there is no perspective. Objects will always look the same size, regardless of how far away they are from the viewpoint. Just like in 2D, where panning the screen around doesn't change the sizes of the sprites. As a guideline, if it looks 3D, it's probably not isometric. For more detail, Wikipedia has an article dedicated to isometric perspectives in computer graphics: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isometric_computer_graphics

It's been a while since I read any of your dev logs, so this was a very nice surprise to come to. I really liked the progression through each of the Creeper World games, so I was curious if and how you'd change it up for #4 if you made one. Even if this is still at the beginning of development, it looks pretty interesting. Honestly, I didn't know how well a game like this would work in 3D, but it looks like it would work just fine and actually be pretty good aesthetically, at least so far. I really can't wait for some more updates on this game and all the different ideas that can be made with this new style. I think that it would be cool if there was a ~weapon or tower that was more involved with the creeper, like something that would sit underneath it, or maybe something boat-like that would sit on top, or traverse across the creeper, it would be highly resistant to it, but would still take damage. I'm also very interested in how the packets are gonna work, they probably won't just float over nothing, maybe if it was similar to _Harvest: Massive Encounter_ , or if it used lines that were similar to Factorio in that lines were connected like an electric grid, while still having pulsing to simulate packets running through them. Sorry if my comment was unnecessary or if none of it made any sense, I'm a bit excited, so I was just gushing a little about the game. Nonetheless, I'll look forward to the next update.

This looks amazing! Can't wait to see how it goes in the future One suggestion, you mentioned about not being able to draw creeper above a certain height, but still want to keep the ability to have large amounts in one place. So what about playing with Creeper Density? Making it more dense would allow more creeper in one spot and could have some interesting gameplay values.
@SpyderZT
@SpyderZT 7 жыл бұрын
This! If you're playing with more realistic physics... I always wondered what super dense creeper would look like. Perhaps after certain depth "Thresholds" the Creeper "Compacts", which would have an effect on it's durability (So Lasers for example would stop being as effective), which would allow for dynamic strategies (Mortors to loosen the Creeper, Lasers when it's less dense, but watch out about "Breaking through" a threshold with Mortors, and then ending up with "Splash Damage" now that the Creeper has returned to a more liquid threshold). That's kind of what I imagined in those scenarios with the tiny Creeper Cubes that "Exploded" into massive amounts of Creeper. And of course the whole "States of the Creeper" (Liquid / Solid / Etc.) could be further manipulated by fields / tech that the Creeper is using... so even smaller volumes could be intentionally dense, only to explode at inopportune times. ;P

Looks Awesome! But I wanted to suggest some things: 1. Rotating the camera. I already saw that you want to implement that so no arguments needed. 2. More terrain variation. not only 10 different heights but how about 30? also 3. how about smooth terrain? for every height unit make 10: 10->100; 30->300. The terrain would probably look better. and to place buildings the terrain has not to be the same height, but +-5 units and everything the gets set to the center one, but remembers the old state, so after destruction of the building the terrain goes back to the old height. Already hyped and good luck with this project

I came over this video entirely by random. In short, the algorithm sent me here. I am intrigued. Obviously, this video was made for viewers who knows what this is. I got confused by why you'd refer to a body of water as "Creeper". Coming from Minecraft, I got even more confused. And so, I googled it, and found an old flash game that crashed during the tutorial. Still, it told me enough about the core mechanics to peek my interest.

From the way that the creeper moves, it gives me the impression of having a pretty high density compared to its viscosity. But with how quickly it evaporates, it seems like liquid nitrogen. So like if liquid nitrogen had the density of liquid mercury somehow. Although I'm guessing that some of its behavior could be imagined to be caused by being a very large wave propagated through a very large volume of liquid, seeing as physics change a little depending on the scale.

This video gave me an idea for a new enemy: The Wrecker; it charges at your Sniper Turrets, secondarily favors Missile Turrets, then other turrets, followed by the Pylons and Towers, but that's not what makes it dangerous: it hugs the Terrain as it moves, displacing any Creeper or Anti-Creeper it comes across, which can potentially create massive Waves. What do you think?

In CW1, 3 and PF, you have the player and enemy start blank. What if you set it up more like CW2. The player starts with a power or upgrade bonus, and the creeper starts with creeper pools or pre-built defences. Also the Creeper could expand a base of some sort, maybe a few week turrets that gather creeper and launch it. Also, no tragic, tacked on endings please!

On the point of terrain texture, having all the same texture for a level makes identifying what level something is really easy. If the same level could be painted differently then there has to be a very good indicator of what level it actually is.

Wow this is a completely new perspective on creep. I honestly had a hard time thinking what creep would look like in a 3D world but this really sheds some light. I imagined it more jello like though. Creep moves really fast too which is kinda surprising considering how slow it moved in the other games. Well it looked slow to me. Hopefully we'll get some sort of better understanding of what creep is or where it came from and how humans keep falling to creep. You'd think they'd just set a turret to shoot the emitters or something.

2:55 "a big object that lived in the creeper" that sounds absolutely terrifying...........................potential final-boss-like-thing idea maybe? or maybe just mobile emitters?

I love how monotone you sound but it's still overwhelmingly interesting.

Such a beautiful game. Love the creeper psychics, the 3D modals and the new camera.

I recently bought Creeper World 3 (My first Creeper World game) on Steam, and so far I really love the concept~ I wish the Arc campaign was harder as only the two final levels were challenging, but the gameplay really is addicting and seeing that there's a 4th one in the making makes me hyped!
