Tim, the bass singer who took the lead first on this, wrote this arrangement himself, and he did it when he was only 19. These guys really know their stuff and it shows in more than just their skill singing. They tend to start out simpler and then building the layers and complexity. Loved your expression when they hit that crescendo before the end. Love you reactions to Home Free and I am here for the journey. You should check out Mary Did You Know and Do You Hear What I Hear. And after the Holidays, check out some of their original songs. They are every bit as good as the classics they cover.

Tim was in Dental School at that time but still was singing with a group he was in in High School.

Thanks for the info. I've heard this my whole life but something with this version made it like I was hearing it for the first time. Now I know.

Fun fact about Home Free. While they have always had country songs as part of their concerts, they were never a country acapella group, After several attempts to get on the Sing Off, the producers of that show suggested that they audition as "the only country acapella group". None of them actually wanted to do that since they did all genres, but Austin finally talked them into doing it. And of course they made it on the show and won. There is a series of videos on Chris Rupp's channel (the guy in the black cowbot hat) on the history of Home Free and he talks about this with Austin and Tim in one of them.

Tim Foust, the bass, arranged this when he was 18-19!! Austin was just a baby!! Still, his voice had great power and quality already!!

Don't forget, for the 31st. (New Years Eve.) Home Free does a beautiful rendition of "Auld Lang Syne." It's harmony heaven, don't miss it.

I love to listen to Tim just softly lay down those lines while the group 'rises' around him. And then Austin just flies away with their support. But still a simple presentation. No ostentatious grandstanding like so many performers do, just a simple prayerful choir.

The two leads here are Tim Faust bass Texas, and Austin Brown hi tenor Georgia the other three are Minnesota boys.

That southern twang comes from Tim Foust ( bass ) from Texas, Austin Brown ( lead tenor ) from Georgia and Adam Chance ( baritone ) from Florida. Adam Rupp ( beat - box ) and Rob Lundquist ( tenor ) are both from Minnesota.

Good reaction! They use the country twang in degrees, depending on the arrangement! Please, on December 31, listen and react to "Auld Lang Syne".

Heeey, Jenna! Merry Christmas to you and your family!! 🦌💚❤🎄🎅 I am absolutely loving your Home Free reactions! I re-feel every single thing you feel when they surprise you - your face and eyes are soooo expressive! Truly, you're very empathic. 😃 Thank you for covering them - I was so lucky to actually see them in concert 10 days ago. Omg... Somehow - they're even better live. And, yes, Tim Foust is the bass, and Austin Brown is the high tenor (in this one). Such great harmonies - they're all outstanding. Have a lovely holiday, my friend! Peace!! xo ✨🤗🥰

I had to write a list of who was in each group when I first got introduced to these a cappella groups. I should have printed a picture of each group and labeled them.

This song was my first introduction to Home Free--and they've been my favorite musicians ever since! Love it when these guys voice the bell tones🔔 Besides the unbelievable harmonies--and gorgeous church backdrop--getting to hear Adam Rupp's sweet tenor actually singing is a real treat ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️ #HomeFree #HomeFreeDoesChristmasBest #AdamRuppSinging

They did a great job as usual on anything they sing, but this is my 2nd best version. I know it's a little late in the season, so if you have to put it on the list for next year, please listen to Bill and Gloria Gaither, "O' Holy Night" live ft. David Phelps (he is wearing a green sweater). David is a world class tenor, and in his version, I have seen more than one person's eyes start to "sweat"! Keep up the great reviews!!

The Fact that four Lead singer skills exist in one vocal Group is already insanely unique - add the THREE register Voice of Tim Foust ..... then Austin Brown going aloft in sonic wonder ..... sweet mid Tenor from Rob, former now Chris Rupp, Founder on Baritone / Tenor and brother beat boxer usually - lends a hand on support tenor fills ..... just mind blowing beautiful voices !!! jj

During the video, you mentioned the setting, candles, great harmony, etc. Thinking of those things, try Pentatonix doing "Mary Did You Know" .. I promise you'll love it as much, or more, than this. They don't provide the 'country twang" tho ! :)

It was like I heard it for the first time. @timworks991 gives us the answer. I've heard this all my life, I'm 75, born on X-mas! What is great about good covers, is you focus upon a different aspect you didn't give enough credit to before.
