Thank you for your video. I just ordered the Kobalt 3/8 impact wrench after watching you use it.

How is your Kobalt 24v 3/8" impact wrench holding up? Do you still use it?
@michaelburkett774 Жыл бұрын
Might be better to use impact sockets. They are stronger and won't destroy your normal sockets

I see 3 things wrong in this video. 1, u didn't jackup or support ur car first, 2, u used 4 impact drivers vs an impact wrench, and 3, u didn't use impact sockets to remove the lug nuts

Hate to ruin it for everyone on here......but the other tools before the last one were impact "DRIVERS" which aren't near as strong as that impact "WRENCH"
@barrykery11754 жыл бұрын
You need to use impact sockets, not plain old sockets out of your took kit. What you are using can shatter and if they are 12 point sockets, you can do damage to the nuts. Not good. Barry

I was poor back then, didn't have money to buy the impact sockets. But I just saved enough money to buy one now. Check out this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5K5oHSEbq2WY8U

I've tried lots of battery powered impact drivers and the Kobalt 24v brushless is the best, but with a couple of batteries and the necessary charger, you will be paying $250 to $300. Since I own a professional shop, nothing beats a good Ingersoll Rand pneumatic impact wrench, either 1/2" or 3/8". They both will outperform any cordless wrench. But I have both for lots of reasons, and lug nuts are not one of them. For most "under the hood" repairs, the Kobalt can't be beaten. BUT: Use impact sockets, not 12 point normal sockets. Just like this guy, the socket can jam on the nut. Second, if the socket does get jammed, don't be silly with a piece of rubber and a channelock plier--just put the nut back on the stud and wiggle the socket and tool.

Kobalt has a 24v compact 1/2" Impact (WRENCH) with 200 foot pounds of torque, and I really like it. You should give it a try some time.

I love removing lug nuts with cordless impacts. In fact I have slowly converted most of my air tools to cordless tools. Its the way to go. No more air compressors. As technology gets better and better, I think that with every passing year these cordless tools are getting more and more powerful.

Too bad Stupid Lowe's ok only has the 3/8 as a bare tool only. I want the impact, battery & charger as a set, WOW WHAT AN AMAZING IDEA...I'll stick with Milwaukee thx

Good to see you on here singlecam I was hoping u would have done a review of the kobalt at the junkyard, But I did get to see the Ridgid compact at the junkyard ,? I must say I'm impressed , But since I already have the 650 ftpd kobalt ? Errr

Part of the deal us the adapter, every extension or adapter decreases the effective impact torque, you will find that if you used a 3/8 to 1/2 adapter with real impact sockets, it won't work as well, safer, but not as well due to the adapter. You scared me a little when you went after that final boat with the car under load :-)
@mnight2078 жыл бұрын
This is wrong. The light blue Kobalt is the only TRUE impact wrench in this vid. The others are impact drivers. Helluva difference
@vuaeco8 жыл бұрын
Well, I didn't say they were all impact wrenches, did I?
@mnight2078 жыл бұрын
You didnt, however you gave that impression. I admire you making a video like this, but do it the right way. Impact drivers arent meant to take off lug nuts. Even if one can Im a mechanic and I try not to deceive people
@vuaeco8 жыл бұрын
Maybe you didn't know but Kobalt also makes the 24V impact driver that is exactly the same as the 3/8 impact wrench. The only difference is it has a 1/4 hex chuck instead. What that means is the "Kobalt impact wrench" in this video is nothing but the impact driver with a 3/8" square chuck. Yeah sure you have to use a 1/4 hex to 3/8 adapter but it won't make much of a difference in performance and I did prove that in my other video. So if you think impact drivers aren't meant to take off lug nuts then you might as well say that this 3/8 impact wrench isn't meant to take off lug nuts either because it's nothing but the 1/4 hex impact driver in disguise.
@Bigchuck6788 жыл бұрын
+vuaeco internally impact drivers and wrenches are the same, but that chuck makes a huge difference. A impact driver with a 3/8" adapter isn't the same thing as a 3/8" impact wrench. With an adapter and/or extensions you lose a good amount of torque. They aren't comparable.
@vuaeco8 жыл бұрын
You might be right, in theory. But in reality, there's no difference. Alright, there might be "some" differences where the extension twists and flexes under load. But the outcome is small and negligible in this case so much so that I don't see the difference. Watch this video starting from 3:20 to 5:00. I did a comparison between the two. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYvHnmqsaZ52qNU

I have the feeling that is not a a Kobalt 3/8s but a Kobalt 1/2. Please double if you don't mind.
@ddn4884 жыл бұрын
please use 6 point impact socket instead of 12 points regular socket.. that causes the nut stuck into the socket... waste time to remove the nut
@davidderfus34628 жыл бұрын
Will you be reviewing the Kobalt 24v "compact" 1/2" drive impact wrench ? ? ? It has 50 more foot pounds then the 3/8 wrench, and should be available in May 2017 I believe. You can see in on Lowe's web sight, just won't let you order it yet. $80 for bare tool.
@yensabi8 жыл бұрын
Did not see a dewalt there....! also never use a 3/8th to 1/2 inch adapter to do heavy bolts as it is not designed for that and will burn the motor , 1/2 down to 3/8 is the way to go or better still get a 1/2" drive machine...........
@vuaeco8 жыл бұрын
Nobody on earth has ever proved that this will burn the motor. Can you prove it? Of course, it's better to use a 1/2 impact for this. But, number one, it's way more expensive. Number two, there's no point to make a video for that because everybody knows a 1/2" impact can do this. Would you want to see a 2-year old child riding a bike (without the training wheels, of course), or a full grown adult riding a bike?

agree this video helps alot. i want to be able to pull tires off with the 3/8ths as i use it on the rest of tge race car. 1/2 would hurt more then help. i would rather have 1 tool to do it all instead of two....

this is great as this tool is new to the market theres only a few reviews out there... I really want to be able to pull the tires off the race car/cars. I also use the 3/8th on almost everything in the car and would make the 1/2 to big and powerfull...
