@@Ichifate Lol I will agree that at that point Lebron wasn’t the best player in the NBA. But at the end when we compare Kobe and Lebron. Just compare their accolades, Lebron 4mvp 4 title 4fmvp = 12 trophies. Kobe 1mvp 5title 2 fmvp = 8 trophies. So Lebron over Kobe
@Ichifate3 жыл бұрын
@@cjt9264 So you want to compare accolades rather than total accomplishments. Yes, Lebron should be praised for his MVP's, but that's leaving out the times Kobe was robbed of winning MVP's. Once again, there are things greater than trophies, Kobe is the only player and I mean only player to ever lead his team to the finals in a conference where the 8th seed was a 50 win team, never done before or after him. Not only did he do that but he won in a conference like that in 2010 with a broken finger. Kobe also is in a group with very few ever having 9 first defensive team selections, and don't give me that bullshit that he didn't deserve them because he did, if anything they didn't want to give them to him. Kobe is second all time in all defensive team selections with 12 total. Kobe also is the only player aside from MJ to make an all defensive team while averaging 35 ppg, MJ of course was the DPOY when he did that but it balances out because if you set the pace Kobe was playing at equal to the league average pace for the year MJ won MVP and DPOY, Kobe averages 39 ppg. many people don't know that that year Kobe had the greatest scoring season in modern NBA history. Kobe also has the greatest record against 50 win teams in the playoffs ever, and Lebron barely even has a winning record. You could actually also give Lebron's 2012 MVP to KD but I won't go into that. People also forget how Kobe willed the Lakers to the finals in 2000 in game 7, you know that legendary lob Kobe threw to Shaq? Yeah, Shaq had only 16 that game and those were his 17th and 18th points. Kobe had to put his team on his back in that game 7 with 25 points 7 assists 11 rebounds and 4 blocks, and remember Kobe was only 21 at the time. Kobe also never won with a big 3, opposed to Shaq. There's a reason why MJ and Kobe are in a league of their own, because they are some of the few legends who only needed 1 other true all star to win, and don't put Rodman on a pedestal to try and diminish MJ's resume, he was a good rebounder but not good enough to be considered a part of the big 3. Now Pau was no slouch and Kobe had good role players, but don't compare that to Lebron having d wade and bosh, or Kareem having Magic and Worthy. Same with Kobe having Shaq, even though Kobe was a close second to Shaq, you realize that Kobe was putting up big numbers right beside him, don't act like if he had someone like a james worthy or a Magic, or a Kareem, as another all star that he wouldn't be unstoppable. Kobe and Shaq were already unstoppable and for Kobe to be so dominant as a number 2 just speaks to how great he was. Look I think Lebron has had some of the greatest NBA seasons of all time, like his 2012-13 season and his 2017-18 seasons statistically, but don't act like pace and the teammates Lebron had didn't play a huge factor. People love to look at the years Lebron shot like 57% from the field but don't acknowledge that he had 2 other all stars on his team. Kobe has legitimately some of the hardest fought rings in NBA history. He's also the only player to score over 600 pts in 3 back to back playoff series.

People just don’t get it lol Kobe in his prime had Kwame Brown Luke Walton and Smush Parker as 3 of his 5 starters and took the Suns who made the WCF and we’re a top 4-5 team in the league every year at the time to 7 games and to a 3-1 lead where they were 1 rebound away from winning game 6 similar to how close Spurs were to beating Miami in Ray Allen 3 finals (obvi Miami was bigger moment but I mean Kobe was that close to taking a team with no talent and beating a top contender where his team was up 3 with less than 10 seconds left and Pheonix got an offensive rebound and 3 like Bosh did to Ray to win game 6) If Kobe is competing with contenders with 3 bums in his starting line up obviously everyone’s going to look way better when you turn Kwame into Gasol, Smush into Fisher and Luke Walton into Ariza This doesn’t alone make Kobe better than Bron but this is huge reason why we have problem with Bron fans, the blindness you guys have that only assists means you’re making your team better Gasol was a 1x all star and never won a playoff game led a team to the playoffs 1x and got swept as an 8 seed in his career before playing with Kobe that’s not a hall of fame arc Fisher was a solid role player but never an all star or all defensive team or anything close to top talent just a really solid role player, when he switched teams to Utah he came off the bench as a solid role player and when he was in Golden State on a bad team he was nothing close to an all star just a solid good basketball player Ariza was younger so it’s harder to judge his career before Kobe but he’s never been an all star and has been his whole career a very solid 3 and D guy who’s had a very solid nba career and arguably had his best yr in 09 the 1yr he played as a starter with Kobe and got his 1 ring Having those 3 guys as your starters is nothing close to a SUPERTEAM or to even one of the best supporting casts to win a ring with Id argue if you took off the best player of every team to WIN a championship those guys are at the bottom of the list Like I’d take Gasol, half time Injured young Bynum, Ariza, D Fish, Odom, Vujacic, Shannon, Farmar, Luke, Josh Powell After I’d take Scottie Pippen and Horace Grants teams or Scottie and Rodman’s teams or Parker Ginobli Spurs teams or Bosh Wade or AD and Rondo Dwight Howard off the bench with Kuzma, McGee, Morris, Danny Green, KCP etc It’s just if Kobe is able to make a team with bums like Kwame, and Smush look competitive then if you get pretty good players to replace them it’s going to look all world And the blindness you Bron fans have to that is the issue Like y’all love to talk about Bron taking the trash cavs to the finals in 07 and it def was impressive but you talk about the 07 Cavs being bums when ppl say but Bron got swept in finals but then will say Kobe quit in game 7 vs Pheonix but act like he had competent teammates that should even be in a game 7 when his team was WAY worse than Bron 2nd best player on Lakers in 06 team that lost in 7 games to Suns Lamar Odom: Good player borderline great but never an all star had moments or games that looked like all star talent but never consistent enough in career to be all star, basically really above average role player 2nd best player on Cavs in 07 Bron finals Ilgaskaus 2x all star, made 1 all star before Bron joined Cavs, not a consistent all star but very good player, all star level player Now if we look at Ilgaskaus his career is actually more reflective of what Gasol looked like before he joined Kobe, smart big man that could shoot and had good fundamentals and made 1 all star before joining a goat level player, now I think Gasol is better than Ilgaskaus but the issue is yall act like Odom is super good, Gasol is a bonafide HOF and Ilgaskaus is trash, that’s just so biased like if there were 2K ratings Gasol would be a 90, Ilgaskaus an 88 and Odom an 86 and maybe it’s because Ilgaskaus looks like a guy from the YMCA but he’s a lower level all star player And Gasol wasn’t even on Kobe’s 06 team I only brought him up because you Bron fans act like Gasol is a HOF and Ilgaskaus is trash and Bosh is just pretty good when before joining Kobe or Bron Gasol and Ilgaskaus both only made 1 all star games while Bosh was a 5x all star and had led Toronto to the playoffs twice which is more than Gasol did in Memphis like if you look at these guys before joining Bron and Kobe it should be Bosh 92 overall, Gasol 90, Ilgaskaus 88 but Bron fans act like it’s Gasol 96 Bosh 88 and Ilgaskaus 83 like the shit makes no sense when looking at how good they were before joining Bron and Kobe and if you agree but then are saying Gasol played better for Kobe then Ilgaskaus and Bosh did for Bron how does that make sense that Bron makes his teammates better than Kobe does? Like if you agree in Memphis Gasol was an 88 but then became a 96 with Kobe, how does Kobe get no credit for that? What are you basing that on? Just an eye test? Wouldn’t it make sense that Gasol was given multiple opportunities to run the offense but was less focused on by the defense because Kobe was on the court so he excelled Meanwhile a guy like Bosh who was better than Gasol joined Bron who is more of a pick and roll player and pass to shooters so Bosh looked worse because he basically became a 3pt catch and shoot player instead of getting chances to post up and run the offense like Gasol did? But anyways so Ilgaskaus > Odom Continue on to 3rd best players on 07 Cavs and 06 Lakers We’ve got Larry Hughes vs Smush Parker, Larry Hughes avg 20 ppg very good player with all star level moments similar to Odom and Larry Hughes made an all defense team, Smush Parker only success in career came with Kobe after left Kobe out of the league 4th best players: E Snow and Kwame Brown, one was a starting point guard for another team that made the finals with 01 76ers and also made an all defense team in his career, Kwame Brown world famous bum 5th best: Luke Walton Donyell Marshall, one guy only played with Kobe his whole career so can only use eye test because don’t know how good he is without Kobe (did leave lakers at age 31 which isn’t super old to go to Cavs where he lasted 1yr and was out of the league which would suggest he’s a bum but to be fair maybe age hit him quicker) so eye test says smart player below average role player but not worst of the worst, Donyell Marshall tied record for most 3 point FG made in a game at the time with 12, averaged double digit points for multiple teams in career I won’t even go into the benches lol But it’s pretty clear 07 Cavs were way more talented than 06 Lakers but Bron fans talk about 07 Cavs and say trash but then say 06 lakers and never say trash just say Kobe quit in game 7 Now if y’all are just saying Bron was super impressive cuz he was so young and led a below average team to the finals I think any sensible Kobe fan would agree but y’all don’t just say that you say Kobe quit without ever mentioning how he carried a team way more trash than Bron ever played with in his career to a 3-1 lead over a contender level Suns team but then turn around and excuse Bron for being swept because he played with “bums” lol that shit makes no sense and is why the debate is so childish because of biases like that Maybe it’s just the eye test because guys like E Snow, Ilgaskaus and Donyell Marshall aren’t super athletic or naturally talented so they look like bums while guys who play for the lakers sound decent because the Lakers are always on tv and you hear their names all the time but when you actually breakdown the careers of the players on Brons 07 team and Kobe’s 06 team Brons help blows Kobe’s out the water and the fact that y’all don’t notice it because Bron averages more assists just shows a level of ignorance that might lead you to when you overall look at the game of basketball think Lebron James is better than Kobe Bryant.... oh I get it now

If Kobe is equipped with a helper like Pau Gasol starting from the 2005-06 season, Kobe will win seven to eight championship rings in his career. Anyone who has experienced that era knows how powerful and terrifying Kobe is.

Kobe was 29 or something this year. Completely embarrassed the defending champ the Spurs and perimeter defender Bruce Bowen who the year before in the finals made 22 year old Lebron look lost. Lebron ain't even better than Kobe especially when you get shut out by a 37 year old defender.

@@TheyoungZidane He was also playing with Shaq and under Phil Jackson. Don't act like he was playing by himself with scrubs like Lebron was. Fucking dumbass.
@TheyoungZidane4 жыл бұрын
Michael Kirschner The Big Z was literally a 2x all star while playing with Lebron lmao. One of the best centers in the league. Do you even know who Larry Hughes is?? He averaged 22PTS, 6.3 REB, 5.3 AST, all while averaging 2.9 STL (all star numbers all while being league leader in steals) one year before playing with Lebron. But since Lebron makes his teamates worse those numbers dropped. On top of that, his role players were way better than the role players that Kobe or Jordan had. The year Lebron went to the finals in 07, Drew Gooden had a Per 36 of 14.2 PTS, 11 Rebs while shooting 47% from the field. The reason why I brought up his PER 36 is because he was sharing minuets with Donyell Marshall who had a PER 36 of 15 PTS, 8.6 REBS while shooting a 51% 2P% for that year. The reason he didn’t win in 07 is because he simply wasn’t good enough. Put 22 year old Kobe on that team and they win. Here are the differences between Lebron and Kobe at 22 years old vs the spurs. Lebron: 22.0 PTS 7.0 REBS 6.8 AST 1.0 STL 0.5 BLK 5.8 TO (lol) .356 FG% .200 3P% .690 FT%(shot 7.3 a game) .428 TS% .378 EFG Kobe: 33.3 PTS 7.0 REBS 7.0 AST 1.5 STL 0.8 BLK 2.8 TO(Lebron averaged more than twice as many turnovers. .514 FG% .357 3P% .769 FT% .571 TS% .538 EFG And the craziest part about this, Kobe did it in the hand checking/zone defense era which was the hardest era to play in as a guard. Or any position for that matter. You have no clue what your talking about, keep buying into the propaganda.

I think sometime from 06-08 or 03 (before the right shoulder tear) was his peak. He was one of the best shooters in NBA history at this point (I've never really understood how the 'greatest shooters' conversations turned into 'greatest 3 point shooters'). He still had enough quickness to functionally accomplish everything he needed to as an MVP level guard/wing. I acknowledge 08 was a year of decline for Duncan on both ends of the floor. He looked pretty slow in this series and his 08 regular season and postseason efficiency were both career lows (outside of the 06 regular season but he had a lis franc injury the whole season). To be honest this Spurs team wasn't as impressive as the 05-07 teams with Duncan declining, Horry/Barry falling out of the rotation, and Ginobili injured. Brent did get back in the rotation for the Spurs this series which is a huge reason they kept some of those losses even close. With Brent playing less and both Tim/Tony's efficiency declining from 07->08 the Spurs fell from a +2.7 regular season offense in 07 to a -0.3 offense in 08. Manu Barry and Oberto were the only efficient scorers in the entire rotation. Embarrassing for a championship contending team. Still, there was a lot of problems that any incarnation of the Spurs or Duncan would have trouble with on defending Kobe (and DID from 01-04). There's no point in Duncan's career he was quick enough to adequately defend 08 Kobe in pick and roll. A younger Duncan could have contested a little better in drop than he does here (basically giving up WIDE open pull-ups or getting beaten off the dribble). Duncan was never quick enough to prevent those pull-up attempts altogether (or severely alter their efficiency) without being beaten off the dribble but his efforts in this series are pretty pathetic for a player of his overall caliber. Putting him in pick and roll was the Lakers preferred offense to close out G5. Watch all of these plays and really it was putting Duncan in pick and roll that generated the highest quality looks for the Lakers. When the Spurs tried other pick and roll coverages they were vulnerable to Odom or Gasol getting the ball in a 4 on 3. The synergy those two had as bigs that could both pass and finish was beautiful; a great complement to Kobe. Imagine if Kobe had both of them 2 years earlier. Before the 08 Finals (where Garnett and the Celtics pre-rotating REALLY took a huge chunk out of Kobe's scoring effectiveness) 08 playoff Kobe had actually improved his regular season scoring rate by 3.5 PTS every 75 possessions and his efficiency by 2% (adjusted for the Nuggets Jazz and Spurs defense). That's a HUGE improvement for someone already scoring as well as he was in the regular season, and it's easy to see why Kobe was one of the few players on record that improved his scoring in the playoffs. He annihilated slow footed big men in drop coverage and was comfortable pulling up at any part of the floor. Watch Bowen try to defend Kobe bringing the ball up the floor in transition. If he didn't meet him well above the 3 point line Kobe could either walk into a practice shot or completely blow by Bruce. I don't think I need to explain how face-guarding Kobe all the way up the floor isn't practical across an entire game or even really that effective on a possession by possession basis. Definitely a top 10 playoff scorer in NBA history. It's an embarrassment of riches that the Lakers alone have three (LeBron, Shaq, West) guys who were even better scorers. Maybe 4 with Kareem 😅
@indrajkang38218 ай бұрын
Wait... you're saying there are 4 Lakers in history that are better scorers than Kobe? That's ridiculous
@granthoops8 ай бұрын
West Shaq and LeBron all scored more points per possession on better efficiency than Kobe in the playoffs. West's data is estimated but there's a massive difference. Where prime Kobe is a +7% relative to opponent defense, West is a +20%. That's a completely insane difference. Even if West's actual efficiency was lower it's pretty unreasonable to think the margin of error is close to 13%. I mean, maybe West was even more efficient than +20% lol. The game's about buckets. Shaq and LeBron may not have impressed with as difficult of shots as Kobe or been able to score from as many parts of the floor as effectively as Kobe could. Kobe's resilient shot profile matters, but that advantage Kobe has totally pales in comparison to the raw scoring results that Shaq and LeBron were able to produce. LeBron and Shaq demonstrably are better scorers than Kobe. West probably depends how much you take the attitude that you don't care about what people did 60 years ago. It's pretty obvious West was a better scorer in his era than Kobe was in his, but you can argue that you don't care about West's era. Kareem is the only one of the 4 that doesn't score more points per possession and on better efficiency than Kobe. Kareem holds a massive edge in efficiency over Kobe, but he does do so on slightly less points per possession. To me, the big edge in efficiency is significantly more valuable than the small deficit in scoring rate. There's a few philosophical questions I have with Kareem that make me a little more skeptical than the other 3 Lakers. As Lakers? Kareem's scoring peak came a lot from Milwaukee. LeBron's came before he was ever a Laker. Kobe is a better scorer than LeBron or Kareem were in Lakers uniforms, but as NBA players, no, I don't think Kobe is a better scorer than Kareem Shaq LeBron or West. Remember who these guys are. LeBron James. Kareem. Shaq. The Logo. It's not really disappointing to be worse scorers than them. Like, yeah Kobe isn't as good a scorer as Michael Jordan either lol.

@granthoops Kobe's ability to generate instant offense on demand at a ridiculous volume, along with his offensive repertoire(on or off-ball), is why he's the best scorer not-named Michael Jordan for my money. He's just too universal and portable in this regard and relative to those aforementioned names, he's damn near unstoppable. At face value, sure, guys like Shaq and LeBron seemingly are more accurate. However, both have very glaring deficiencies in their offense- they're not that great outside of 3 feet, including the free throw line. With Kobe, you don't have a scheme to stop him, you just have to hope his ego gets the better of him 😅
@ResidentNick8 ай бұрын
I'd also argue his peak was basically the entirety of the 2000s and was the player of the decade. By 2011, his knee problems slowed him down considerably as evidenced by the lackluster outings vs New Orleans and Dallas in the playoffs but he was still one of the handful of best players until his achilles tear in 2013.

Kobe is the Goat 🐐. Wade, bosh and Allen carrying LeJoke. LeChoke gave us bronze in Olympics 2004 and FIBA 2006. Kobe came and saved the day from LeChoke. Kobe = 2 Gold medals, no bronze LeChoke = 2 Bronze. Kobe 5-2 w-L in NBA finals LeChoke 3-6 w-L in NBA finals Kobe 81 pt game, LeChoke barely 60 something. Kobe 3peat, LeJoke 2peat. Kobe and Shaq 3 rings, LeJoke and Shaq 0 rings. Kobe 0 swept in finals, LeJoke swept in 07 finals. 😩 Kobe sticks with one team, LeJoke team hopping to win a ring, Ring chaser. 😂 Kobe 97 Slam Dunk Chanp, LeJoke 0, too scared 😱 Kobe youngest All Star, LeJoke nah! 😩😁😅 Kobe 18 All Star, LeJoke 16 All Star, Kobe 2 scoring champ, LeChoke 1. Kobe 4 All Star MVP ( the Kobe Bryant All Star MVP award), LeJoke 3 All Star MVP (No commemorative awards). Kobe 12 x All Defensive, LeChoke 6x 😅. Kobe max ppg 35.4, LeJoke 31.4 🤣 Kobe FT% 83.7, LeJoke 73.5 😅 Kobe 4 consecutive 50 point games, LeChoke Never 😅. Kobe 2 consecutive 60 point games, LeJoke Never 🤣. Kobe 5 rings, LeJoke 3 😃😁😂🤣 Kobe and Tim Duncan are the only two players to have played in multiple playoff series where every team has had +50 wins. LeBron? Not one. Taking into account LeBron always armed himself in the East with 2 All-Star teammates and a great bench - he's had it relatively easy in the East and you see now he needs another top 5 player to even make it out of the West. Duncan could never repeat a championship even with superstar teammates like Parker, Robinson, Kawhi and Ginobli. Meanwhile Kobe went to 3 straight finals and won back 2 back post-Shaq. Kobe beat Duncan in 2008 playoffs easy, no Shaq, no problem. Kobe 3-peat and then 2-peat without Shaq, Duncan couldn’t even repeat with Ginobli, Parker, Kawhi, D-Rob 😨. Kobe has 2 gold medals 🥇 in the olympics, showing his greatness anywhere and everywhere. TD has a bronze 😅. Duncan is a system player and wasn’t as great as evinced in TD and LeChoke bringing home bronze medals in 2004 olympics, lol 😅. LeJoke also brought home bronze in FIBA 2006 😅, pathetic. Kobe had to save us on Olympic 2008 to give us gold. Kobe is undefeated in international competition, 100% win record 😅. TD and LeJoke gave us bronze, lol, but they’re supposed to be Goats and greater than Kobe? Lmao 😅. Kobe, most 50 wins playoff opponent beaten in NBA history. Kobe has dominated and won at every level he competed in. Duncan didn’t win in college and olympics. Lebron won bronze in 2004 and 2006. MJ didn’t dominate nor win in high school. The greatest player of all time has to be great at every level he competes in. Kobe is the one.
