In '04 Gary Payton and Malone came to save the Lakers against the Spurs. In '08 Lakers get Pau Gasol at the trade deadline to push them over the hump vs Spurs.

Everyone thinks Ivica Zubac will not make the playoffs and has the most pressure a superstar has ever faced. While I agree the pressure on him is Incredible I believe he will. Last game he put up a Double Double against The TrailBlazers who are predicted to go to the Finals by Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith (Seriously WTF were they smoking when they said that). He more doubles-doubles for the Clippers this season then Wilt Chamberlin, Shaq, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and MJ combined. Even Steph Curry could not match that output last game. He will carry the Clippers to the playoff's and is the whole reason why the Clippers are going to attract marquee FA this summer. Truly a game-changing talent and will change the way Ball is played forever.

Kobe is top 3 in NBA history in All-NBA selections, All-defensive selections, All-star appearances, and scoring. He also has 9 all-defensive first team selections, which ties the most all-time. Just so you know how hard that is, Klay and KD have never made an All-defensive team. And that goes to show how underrated Kobe actually is. No one ever speaks about his defense. No one ever mentions that he's led the Lakers in assists for 12 of his 20 seasons. You only hear people putting stats side by side and ripping players without context.

Shoto T those are all excellent achievements and kudos to Kobe for that. But those all voted achievements, some you can say because of popularity. Kobe dominated in the statistically hardest era to score in (the 2000s where teams averaged under 100ppg) because of the elimination of the “illegal defense” rule that helped Jordan and the stars of his era score at such a high rate. The Kobe that averaged 35 ppg for a year in the 2000s would average 38-40 in 2019. Prime Lebron would be getting efficient 30ppg triple doubles. Prime Wade could average 32-35ppg for a season. And if KD was still a one man show he could put up a 35-37ppg season. I feel like players who had their prime between 2001(when the rule changed)-2012 are so under appreciated.

The hate for kobe was DIRECTLY created by the incredible amount of disrespect that his fanboys (i.e., the kobetards) showed towards MJ and any era pre mid 00s. Don't act like the kobetards weren't the 1st generation of willfully ignorant, disrespectful, social media fanboys. They created the blueprint for this. And now the idiot bronsexuals have learned those lessons from them, followed suit, and have began doing the same thing to not only MJ, but kobe as well. And now kobe's fans are mad because they're getting back all of the disrespectful shit that MANY of them doled out, in their fanboy attempts to disparage/discredit MJ's legacy/era, in order to elevate kobe in stature over him. But then you have this subculture of kobe "fanboys", who are EXTREMELY delusional, tend to be willfully ignorant of anything (or anyone) pre-00, and are VERY disrespectful towards the history of the game (and its legendary past players), when or if, they think doing so will, elevate kobe in stature, as it relates to the conversation. Man I know this is gonna sound short sighted as hell, but I just don't see people forgetting what KD did. Lebron's move pissed people off because of the arrogant way he did it, and because he squashed the competition in his conference. The team he left was a trash pile though, so the move made sense. And it's not like he broke the league, he just won your average amount of rings for a contender. Like the Kobe and Shaq Lakers, except the players took it upon themselves to make the team happen. He started a trend that everyone is doing, so in retrospect his move looks like the norm. He just handled it like a dick. KD on the other hand, I mean, we all know. Joining the team who beat you in that fashion, after the playoff run his team had, and after they had the victory then blew it, that's bad enough. But when it cripples competition in the whole league for damn near half a decade in the process? That's exaggerating a bit, but even if he only wins 2 like Lebron's Heat did, it's just the betraying way he did it. I don't foresee that becoming the new trend that makes this look tame in retrospect. Add to that him fighting with kids in their dm and using burners to justify his ego, and it's gonna take one hell of a redemption arc from KD to wash this one away. It's not impossible, future me could be laughing at this right now, but idk man. Lebron was a dick. But KD is just weak.

I gave up arguing with Kobe haters and Lebron haters or any kind of bias hater they are delusional if you think Kobe isn’t top 10 awesome great but people really put guys like KG and pierce over him like bro what????? By that point they are exposing themselves tbh I never really watched prime Kobe play but from the highlights I can tell he was a monster

Unpopular opinion: If Boston didn't build the big three and win a championship , Paul Pierce would have been remembered as an inefficient iso player. Basicly a worse Anthony.

Dom, JxmyHighroller made a video about the defense from the 90s and 80s and it would be interesting to get your take on it.

I love to see it. The media hates Kobe and twitter for some reason follows. No one ever tried to minimize players and what they’ve accomplished until lebron came along, then it became a race to make everyone look bad to support lebron. I’m glad to hear a Celtics fan defending Kobe dudes are relentless out here wanting to take him out the top 10 thinking he was just some Vince carter or something and got lucky by having shaq

Actual Kobe unpopular opinion: while he was a good defender, people exaggerate how good he was because he made 12 all NBA defensive teams

To some extent I can see why Kobe may not transfer to this era as well as we are being lead to believe. Mainly because of the 2000s being so heavy on iso while now we are in an era with lots of transition scoring and continuous off ball movement. I get that they probably would adapt there games a little but I just can’t see the impact being quite as much as I am being lead to believe.

The CP3 trade would have given him his best teammate since shaq. That team was technically op and not even as op as 04 laker could have been, it would have probably brought more revenue with narrative and the veto makes sum since but not really enough for the trade that could have been, kobe probably could have gotten to finals more times but it’s hard to say that they still beat the Miami team of that era, cause we didn’t see what type roster could have been but around Kobe and paul
