The man averaged 31 on a bum knee. It's crazy to think what he could have done fully healthy. Kobe is thee most exciting player I have ever had the privilege to watch. It's just nothing like dude nothing.

It's easy to forget he had 22 in the first half and then they put Kirilenko on him and he proceeds to go 11/11 for 30 points in a quarter and then he just drops the mic and goes to the bench. Kobe Bryant has to be the best pure scorer in the history of basketball in his prime. You could literally give him D-League teammates that teams didn't even have to defend and they would still load up on him and trap him and he'd still score. Simply amazing.

Damn, he averaged 31.6 PPG that year after having arthroscopic knee surgery and being at "only 24 PPG" at the end of November. That's a 7 PPG elevation, which is huge after a month's sample size. He clearly went on a rampage after that. Imagine if he had been healthy all season.

***** Lol. What?! I literally observed one in an operating room 3 weeks ago. Arthroscopic and laparoscopic are real surgeries in that they make an incision and manipulate/repair anatomical structures. The difference is that they use a scope (hence, -scopic), which allows them to make smaller incisions than open surgery where they make large incisions due to the need to explore firsthand without the benefit of the scope. Most athlete's knee repairs nowadays use the scope, including serious injuries like ACL repairs. Open incision is no longer the norm and when it comes to millionaire athletes, it is never employed unless the -scopic methods won't work. If you want to discredit the guy, go ahead, but at least be accurate about it.

@EveryDayIsAGoodDay damn hater, it is real surgery . They were cleaning out broken pieces of articular cartilage which can have a much more significant impact than a ligament reconstruction. I've had both so i would know. Look at the reason T-Mac and Brandon Roy have shortened careers. No ligament injuries, meniscus and articular cartilage injuries. Kobe was contemplating retirement after his 2011 season and another 'fake' surgery . it wasnt until he had orthokine on his knee that he overcame his knee issue.

Michael Jordan had no help before Scottie Pippen developed to a great player.Michael Jordan did became more of a team leader in the 1990s but I easily take 1980s Michael Jordan over any version of Kobe by far because even the 1980s Michael was more of a team leader than Kobe ever was and he was a much better defender and much more efficient on offense.

Wilt doesn't count, because no way in hell would he be doing what he did in the 60s today, where there are plenty of guys with his stature and size. Kobe is dropping 52 in 3 qrs, 62 in 3 quarters, as a *shooting guard*. Are you kidding me?? The greatest scorer ever. Only one that can compare with him is Jordan, all the rest, not worth mentioning.

Jordan has 10 scoring titles and a higher career PPG at a higher FG%. If you compare playoff/finals scoring when it actually really matters then it just makes you look even more silly

I love Kobe and him and Jordan are truly the greatest shooting guards to ever play, as well as scorers. Though please don't put down Wilt, if Wilt played in todays game he would still be as dominant as he was when he played. People severly underestimate the true monster that Wilt was, the guy was a track star, and had incredible coordination, speed, and athelticism. In fact when he played he never really even tried, until he went up against Kareem. Heck when the guy dunked he just hopped and didn't even need to touch the rim. A center today couldn't even handle shaq, now essentially imagine shaq with supreme athleticism and speed, and that was Wilt. Trust me just because it was the 60's does not mean there wasn't amazing athletic freaks of nature.

xBXRxAaron I think you forget jordan also throughout his career has on average shot 4 more times then kobe. Do you forget kobe played with shaq for 6 years. & sat out the first two on the bench ? So don't bring up the scoring championship when the best players in the league had at hall of famers & didn't need to score so like jordan did. & let's not forget he played in a water down. Expansion league in the 90s so. & the field goal percentage. Kobes level of difficultly compared to Jordans shot. Hahah it's a joke. & he shoot alot more threes then jordan. So when you put that into the equation. Just two pointers. Then Kobes shooting 48 percent & jordan is shooting 51 still because he barely shot threes. So those stats are picked apart. & now let's look at just from the eye test. & the fact that Jordans never scored 50 through 3 quarters & Kobes done it how many times ? 6. So you can definitely say kobe would have 11 60 point games in his career. Compared to 5 by jordan. & the 62 through 3 quarters ?? Kobe could have scored 90 & that was a month before the 81 point game when he actually played the 4th & had only 53 points at the end of third. So how many could he have had when he had 55 through three... where he hit 9 fucking threes ?? He was on that game from three more then the 81 point game so who knows. & that was against who ? Hahaha jordan. & 62 through three ? He could have almost hit a hundred if not hit a 100 if he really wanted to. But jordan was a better scorer ? Hahaha.

because they dont give the MVP to a guy whose team finishes around .500. He only averaged that many points because he shot too much. His shooting percentage was no better than the league average

Kobe is tremendous. And even at 36 today, he's still got fire. Wilt still did what no one can do or has ever done in any league, any age group, male or female. No one can avg 50.4 points per game, 26 rebounds, countless blocked shots and play every minute of 80 games! No charter flights. No HGH! No special comfortable shoes! Now add to that the physical play of inside back then with 2-3 people guarding you.

11-11 from the field on mostly jumpers for 30 in a quarter. Kobe is second to none. This should've been another 60 or 70 point game in one of the many times these shitty Laker teams were blowing out their opponents making Kobe sit in the 4th. He's second to none.
