The way this scene summed up his entire character arc. Being a track star, burning out due to the pressure and then losing his mother in the disaster, slowly recovering and becoming happy again over the course of the series and then finally giving his life to help rebuild Japan. Amazing character.

Your comment is wrong in so many ways. 1) Kite stated his arm was too hurt for him to be able to swim. 2) The force of a wave is no joke. 3) It's not like he just fell in the water! He got slammed to the ground probably breaking and injuring more parts of his body not to mention knocking him unconscious and drowning. 4) The current took his body away meaning that Kite and the others wouldn't have been able to find his body floating around. Sadly he had no chances of living.

Just Finished Watching The Whole Season Of This Anime. There Are Only 10 Episodes , And I INSTANTLY Fell In Love With The Characters Since Episode 1. Its Soooo Crazy How This storyline Was Put Together. Koga Was Starting To Open Up Too 🥺 Highly Recommend Watching This Anime On Netflix.

honestly most of the major characters deaths could have been avoided without the whole "sacrifice yourself" ish constantly happening Koga/haru: grab the device then grab onto a nearby rock and plan for the time when the waves hit. Get up then continue. The dad: learn to read warning signs The mom: of she didn't swim and waited a bit longer the sun came out and she could have charged her heart device. Its a rope, its not impossible to cut just by wearing it down with nails, teeth, etc. Other girl: they didn't even try to help her out of the gas, they could have held their breath and grabbed her leg or something. Like what kind of gas kills like that. Main girls leg: bitch didn't even notify anyone of it. She just let the damn thing rot.shes the same kinda bitch who would hide a zombie bite.

This is my favorite scene in the whole series for 1 reason and that is redemption. Throughout the whole series he didn’t talk much and his character is seen as a failure because he used to be popular but not anymore. Then this scene he wanted to use his gift to do 1 last good thing knowing that he was going to die anyway. To me, that’s real heroism.

I just watched this today and I thought it would be just some regular disaster anime but no this one hit hard. After I saw the dad get blown up I just broke down on how this anime can blow unexpected scenes. I also didn't expect for Nanami to just die like that in a snap, I also didn't expect Shan City would be just a wholesome city and not some crazy cult and I definitely did not expect for Haruo to die like that. Well I kinda did but I was really rooting for him. And this just shocks me. This anime, just broke me. Unlike the tragic ones, this hits ne so hard. Its just a rollercoaster ride and it made my head hurt of how unexpected the events are like ughhhhh. He was one of my favorites...

He was one of the best characters. I just finished this anime after binging it, and I sobbed for so long. His death was definitely different from the others. I'm not sure if those few seconds he wasted was for the water to reset, but if it wasn't, it just makes me sad thinking about how he could've saved himself. After reading the comments, I too agree that he could've waited on the other end. I painfully rewatched his death scene in 0.25x over and over to analyse. The waves never hit the other side where the walls were; if he could run to that side without being hit, then he could've come back safely. I guess it was one of those things where he was under pressure and didn't think properly. He died a hero and whilst doing what he loved best, he played a big part in saving Japan. That's a true king 👑😭.

When he slid across the platform, if he tried to grab the floor with his hands to slow down the slide and lessen the space between him and the island, there could’ve been a sliver of a chance of him living. And if he started running right when the wave ended, not preparing to run and arguing while the wave recedes that would’ve increased his chance of surviving.
