Celestion G12M-65 is my weapon of choice. I also hate the G12T-75. In the beginning of this video I kind of liked the Omega but it started to remind me of a G12T a little bit. Have you tried modding a 57 by taking the transformer out. The 3.7kz sizzle is gone and you can actually mic from the center of the cone again.

We got a lot of new players on the speaker block, between the DV-77, Jensen Tornado Stealth 65, and the Eminence Swamp Thang, the good ol' Vintage 30 might be FINALLY getting some competition! Both speakers sound great. In my ears the DV77 sounded a bit more even through the frequency spectrum. The Omega had more of a character. So it comes down to taste and/or purpose which speaker fits better. Would love to have both as IRs since I cannot have as many cabs as Kohle. And I would like to see a video of the mic-robot, too. @dapliff

I think is the same as when you mess with the low end because signals are not in phase. The time delay is mimicking the distance between the microphone and the speaker, but the effect in this case is that you are cancelling the hiss...how is done? I also got lost there..

@@KohleAudioKult i think if you're gonna chop off the bass off anyway why not just mic it brighter like move it closer to the middle or even pull it back a couple inches from the speaker so you don't get as much low end from proximity effect. In cutting it off with a filter you might be losing some of the natural vibrance of what the speaker itself sounds like, so if you change how its mic'd to fit the frequency response of what you do with filters anyway you in theory could end up with something more natural sounding. Rock and roll being a natural spirit of rebellion i think it fits.

The only one I have used is a Mesa 1x12 which sounds great. I little thinner and more mid focused than a 4x12 though.

I need an advise from you guys... I've always played v30 in 4x12 or 2x12 cabs... I'm now forced to scale down on a 1x12... I need to spec something that copes with my 100v 6505 head. I took a listen to the high power options on KZbin (150w onwards)... They all sound "not good" to my hears.... Even the coveted Celestion Redback has no highs at all to me.... Is there something usable among the high power speakers? Have you experience with them?

Hmm, I haven't found any high powered speaker that sounds as cool as a good V30. The best one being the Swamp Thang. But that's a very different tone.

@@KohleAudioKult Thanks for the feedback.... It confirms my impression... I think I'll have custom build a very compact 2x12.... BTW... the contents you're putting out are very very valuable... great contribution to the community...

A lot of stock irs, neural dsp included to me sound a bit muddy. Yours and Jens are awesome... they sound like the cab is micd up in the next room.

Hello friend from Great Russia! I'll tell you how I play without changing speakers in a Mesa 412 cabinet: I like to play old school death metal with two amps in one Mesa 412 cabinet. One in a pair of 4 ohms and the other amp in another pair of 4 ohms speakers. Versatility is beyond praise! And you don't need to change speakers. Just tune one amp fatter and the other drier and it will always be an unforgettable experience! I play on: mesa triple rectifier rev.G mod pot gain 1MΩ mesa mark IV rev.A 1991 Peavey Triple xxx. Guitar: Dean Explorer Z Amber Custom (time capsule)

Great video! Any chance of a step-by-step tutorial video on making your own IR's? Would really appreciate a tutorial on that! Really like the sound of my cab so I'm interested in the possibility of creating an IR of my cab, so that I could use it at home with amp sims and to use it with my Kemper! Cheers for the great content!

Kohle if I may ask: what's your monitoring chain? Seems like Amphion? What amp and what converter - Avocet direkt to amp then monitors?
@KohleAudioKult
@KohleAudioKult 3 жыл бұрын
Yes and yes. Amphion Two15 with the big Amphion amp. DA converter is the Avocet.
