I have always interpreted that the death of a nation is a kind of mixture between its disappearance as a political / administrative entity + the decrease in the identity of its inhabitants or in the most extreme case, a total extermination of its ethnic population base. Citing ancient empires: Ancient Egypt fell as a Political Entity in the year 30 BC, but the ancient Egyptian culture lived on for a couple of centuries until its last vestiges were destroyed first by the embezzler Justinian and then by the Muslim Invasion, therefore that I assumed that he died at some point in the 7th century. Also: this gives a pretty decent explanation of why Poland survived without existing for over 100 years. The ethnic Poles continued to be a people differentiated from their conquerors and aware of their identity. Consequently, Poland was able to stay alive.

My theory is that the economy doesn't affect a nation's health, but actually affects the nation's immune system. Thus when the economy of said Nation goes extremely bad, they have a higher chance of becoming sick really badly. An example being England's cold. England, I believe, caught a cold by natural means (it was passed on). Of course, if his economy was really bad, it would be a really bad one. Now, if England caught that same cold again in our times, he wouldn't get as bad as in the Great Depression, as we are the 5th largest economy in the world. This (To me) explains North Korea being fine in Fanfiction. Because the economy is really bad all the time, I believe his/her immune system would get used to it and defend accordingly. It would also explain the Spanish flu too.

So with all that said, I have a question. There was once a micro nation called the Gay and Lesbian Kingdom of the Coral Sea. It was founded in 2004 as a protest against Australia’s refusal to recognize gay marriage, but dissolved in 2017 after Australia legalized it. Since gay people were considered citizens by default, would this micro nation still be given a personification as long as gay people exist, or would they have turned human on dissolution?

I have a theory of my own. It's about the humans of the country. In my theory, the humans of the country only see themselves as normal. But to the country eyes, they are VARY important. The humans are like the immune system for the country. And if the human moves to another country, and becomes a citizen, they become part of the country's system. For example, Spain people moving to America, they become America's immune system. If the person is only there for vacation, that country has to take care of that human. Or they get hurt AS WELL as the country they are from.

This can be a contrast however. Ancient Rome was killed by Germania, and later on Germania killed himself. We can see that nations can die if they're killed by others, or if they inflict it upon themselves. Then there's Russia. Russia had died many times because of general winter, but yet he's still alive. This pretty much contradict the theory of nation's death. So, my theory is, nations can die but can also revive. However, they can only revive if they wanted to, or if there are several factors which forces them to do so. For example Poland, who is known as the phoenix of Europe. The ancients didn't revive themselves because they already have their descendants and their descendants will continue their journey and mission as a nation.

That actually makes a lot of sense for countries to become human after their "countries" die. As you have stated, nobody considers themselves Romanian or speak Latin. Another theory that I've used myself is the idea that countries can also change their names and culture. This can solve many, many questions as far as Prussia becoming East Germany, if Holy Roman Empire could be Germany and how Ancient Rome was able to visit Germany in one episode. Prussia had to change his culture and name in order to survive under Russia. Someone had to take over what Russia conquered. Holy Rome might've had to do the same after France conquered Holy Roman Empire. For Ancient Rome, he may've not had to change his name, but he did have to desize his Nation and change his culture. The city of Rome consider themselves "Romans" and exploit the culture of Ancient Rome more than any parts of the world. It's possible Italy is oblivious and all the other nations assumed Ancient Rome died, since he just "disappeared" with no clue as to how Rome died other than by Christianity, which is where Italy comes in. So, Italy conquered his grandfather, if that makes any sense, and Ancient Rome never became human, but a city. Though, for this to work, the country has to keep history of their culture. There is still history about the Prussians in Germany, so Prussia could change his culture and name. While there's barely any history relating to Holy Rome in Germany, explaining why he doesn't remember being Holy Rome, it is recorded that the German states could've included Holy Romans. Not to mention they own the heart of Holy Rome. In other words, as long as the people can trace their ancestry back and were able to keep some bits of culture, Holy Rome could still live, but barely.

For the “Nico Nico Republic turn back to human” part, I’ve come up with a theory that every nations used to be the ordinary human beings before they “become a nation”! Maybe there’s some myterious powers or authurity that can decide and choose which one of the people who lived in that country could be the personification/representative of that country! imo Ancient Greece being the byzantine empire is dumb both Ancient Greece and byzantine empire had way different cultures, they may both be greek but both are different with their own greek culture for example Ancient Greece lived in city states with different ways life they were also pagan and had their own type of knowledge, meanwhile the byzantine empire started as the eastern Roman Empire after it split it then converted to Christianity although they were greek they consider themselves romans and had roman law the capital Constantinople was also the new capital of the Roman Empire when emperor Constantine moved it to the rich east. Byzantine is just a modern term used by historians as it would be confused with the ancient romans. They were also called the empire of the Greeks by Europe just so the Holy Roman Empire (which was german) can be a legit Roman Empire so there's my opinion on why Ancient Greece should not be the byzantine empire

...errr...China have 2 identities (even the current China PRRC/mainland will bashed me talking that ROC china/Taiwan are not real country), for many of us in asia, taiwan is much still considered independent country. we welcome taiwan and encourage them to open embassy in indonesia, but somehow they wont. and for language, bloody hell, you meant national language? yes china PRRC enforce the mandarin for national language, but china havr almost 5000+ language. i said language, not dialect, because its have their own writing, grammar structure, and way of prononciation that nothing alike each other, just like in many other asian countries. mine recorded 3400+ native language. so yeah, understood that european or USA (especially the latter) not knowing that fact, but just to clarify it.

The political technicalities don't affect the cultural identify of a nation, China as a big cultural complex that houses many people groups and their unique brands of culture, includes everything and everyone. Taiwan, Tibet, Hong Kong and other autonomous regions, and the rest of mainland. All of it. China, as in Yao Wang in Hetalia, in my humble interpretation, is the personification of that cultural complex. The governments manipulate the politics, but the nations in this show are clearly completely separate from those things. They are influenced by them, but the politics aren't a part of their personality (which = the nation's cultural identity). Meaning that Taiwan as a personification character IS a part of China. On what terms is up to your interpretation tho. She can be a politically independent state, or just a rebellious province, or some other oddity of an existence. But regardless, it doesn't change the fact that she is in China just as China is in her. Also 5000+ languages is a bit of an over-exaggeration. We have 56 different ethnicities and some of them possess more than one language as well as dialects that are so different from Mandarin they could be considered close to being separate languages. But usually we estimate the total to be around 300.
