Russia getting stuck in the middle of the woods the entire winter doesn't sound like a stretch much if we look closer to the russian new year strips (one of which you showed early in the video), we see child russia waiting for the new year while buried in snow. The silhouette of General Winter is visible on the background. When the sun comes out and the snow starts to melt, he finally moves and stands up out of the snow. He says "I'm alive! I survived this winter! Thank you New Year!" (His happiest new year, as he called it). Why would he be there in the first place and not try to get away? Even if he didn't have an actual house, he must have had some sort of shelter or burrow to wait for spring. It starts to makes sense if we apply what you said and it turns out it was so cold he just couldn't move anymore and had to stay outdoors until the weather got better. IDK, I went back to check the comics because that one strip immediately came to mind when you described the situation.

(this video is like two years old sorry) according to the song actually it is nice if his vodka is frozen bc like when you are having alcohol in your blood it makes you freeze to death a lot faster I live in East Siberia (which is Far East now..) and we have a dozens people freezing to death in our regions most of which were drunk and it was New Year holidays and they like just went outside to some store or to a toilet sorry just sad facts...

The tears do freeze to the face😭 Cold-ass wind and temperatures below 35 degrees do that, Siberians can testify! I live close to the sea and the climate here is relatively mild compared to continental Russia, but still, I sometimes feel like my face is gonna fall off after just a few minutes outside... If I had my way I'd just fall asleep in mid-November and wouldn't wake up until late April ugh really why would Russia hate winter 😅

6:03 interesting fact: Russia (or, better say, Rus) wasn't always Orthodox Christian, it used to be polytheistic at some point just like Ancient Greece, Rome or Egypt. Different regions had different pantheons but in the majority of them (and most importantly in the Northern West where the majority of Russians lived and biggest cities were founded) the main god was considered Perun, the god of Thunder and Lighting (yes, technically Zeus), but unlike other ancient religions, he wasn't that much of a leader of the gods and they had a more equal hierarchy and one of the gods that was almost equally important were Yarilo and a less known Dazhd'bog, the two gods of Sun. Technically you can call them the most important ones because people only praised Perun because they feared him but Yarilo was giving them warmth and helped grow food. They even had a holiday called Ivana-Kupala (also known as the Kupala Night and the Night of Ivan) as the day to celebrate Yarilo. It was celebrated on the day of summer solstice which apparently is on the same day as the Nativity of John the Baptiste (that's why it's called the day of Ivan). It was the most important day in the year after Koliada (something like New Year or Xmas, the song Carol Of The Bells came from that day). So yes, Russians actually DID pray to the sun before Christianity came in year 998. (P.S. if you are wondering, yes, John and Ivan are the same name. Ivan is the Russiann version and John is English. There's also Johann in Germanic languages, Jean in French, Juan in Spanish and yadda yadda yadda). Hope this was interesting

@{Cereal💭} You're welcome) Slavic mythology is very interesting in my opinion, and unlike some polytheistic religious (*khem* Greek) it doesn't remind me of Santa Barbara in a way that everyone doesn't sleep around with each other and marry their siblings. It's more about parent-children relationships and there can be multiple gods for the same thing (as I mentioned, there were 2 gods of sun)

I'm kind of disappointed that there's not much Pathologic Hetalia crossover stuff. I only found one bit of fanart of it. :/ With it being by a Russian game development studio, with an infamously steep learning curve which can be very punishing and always finds new ways to fuck you over that only the most masochistic or determined of players actually finish it. I can easily imagine Russia getting America to play in one of the instances they're shown to hang out. Then America being all like, "Dude, this game is hard, how am I supposed to even beat it?" And Russia's just there like, "Now you know how it feels to be me"
