That's kind of stretching it too much there, so much that it's kind of unbelievable really, or doesn't fit at all, especially Mimikyu. Also Klefki, according to it's dex entry, seems to show it's suppose to be like actual pixie fairies, upon the old tales of how fairies sometimes cause mischief, such as taking people's keys and all that. Also no, not even abstractly does Tapu-koko end up looking like a knight, or resembles it in any way, due to the factor of it's totem head parts on it's arms.

James Edwards ...Ehhh, still not seeing it. If anything it's more of a thunder bird than a mounted knight with a javelin. Which also to add to it's Fairy type, it could actually be the "guardian" that you spoke of when you were talking about Klefki, since it is exactly that, a guardian. Also yeah, those are so rare and little, that again they probably won't be accounted for or attribute to any "knight" resembling Pokemon. If anything, the only thing the Tapu's have that would be from a knight, would be a shield or armor, with spikes or horns. Me being biased? I'm sorry, I'm not the one forcing the silly ideology that all Fairy type Pokemons are knights. So I'm afraid you're the only biased on here. Again a far stretch for Mimikyu, because I don't think Vegeta wanted to be more popular than Goku, where as Mimikyu does, just to get love. Yeah, of course not all are pixies, but pixies are apart of the old tales, or "fairy tales" as you can say it. Which is what they're about, is fairy tales, and not exactly primarily about heroes.

I like the special set personally. I prefer to run rock slide over the focus blast (I know, it's supposed to be a special set and you miss out on fighting coverage but as a trade off you can surprise flying types and special walls). Alternatively those stats do look kind of tasty for an Assault vest set. You could go full HP/SpDef and run a mixed set (if you're not investing in either offense, may as well take advantage of both). It could actually run a mean Payback with its low speed and special bulk allowing it to take psychic type STAB hits when necessary. You could alternatively go SpDef/SpAtk and run a set that tanks the opposing Special sweeper and then blows them up with STAB Clanging Scales as well as flamethrower/flash cannon coverage. If you want to get silly you could even run some sort of belly drum set with Wiki Berry or Normalium-Z. With its acceptable all rounder stats and enough bulk to take a hit on switch in, it could also make a scary and reliable pass receiver for whatever stats you'd care to give it. I agree, its coverage is poor at best and it doesn't get any special setup moves. However, I like rounded stat spreads like this, as they give you options and make the Pokemon less predictable. Once move tutors fix the coverage issue it's going to be pretty versatile. Maybe not top tier, but respectable. I can't wait to start surprising people with my girl Kajukenbo-o. EDIT: Yeah after crunching the numbers on the assault vest set it doesn't output nearly enough damage. It 3HKOs Mimikyu, maybe 2HKO if you're running flash cannon - and that's not even counting the disguise. You'd be dead to swords dance play rough before you could get the second hit off. It loses to Garchomp too. It can just survive an unboosted moonblast from modest invested Primarina if it's lucky though (roughly 43% odds), which is fairly impressive for X4 weakness. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what new moves it gets in the next game.

So I've been using this set, and it's been working for me. At least with my team. Nature: Modest Ability: Bulletproof EV's: 252 HP, 252 SpA, 4 Spe Moveset: Clanging Scales, Focus Blast, Flash Cannon, Rock Polish Item: Fightinium Z So basically I use it as a resistant switch in, and then just dish out a massive attack the next turn. For example, I might switch it in to a fire attack and then the next turn just throw out a clanging scales or a flash cannon depending on whether my opponent has a fairy I feel like they'd switch into. And when I can safely use a fighting move, I just use the all-out pummeling to ensure that my hit lands and takes out my target. And then rock polish is there for if I ever feel like there would be a chance to sweep. I have personally seen great success with this set, but it could be that this Kommo-o set synergyzes well with my my team. But I personally feel like Kommo-o is strong, so if you're having trouble using him, try this set. :)

I don't think he was being too fair to the Kommo-o. While true, it's not a world-beater, and I mean, it may well be the worst pseudo-legendary, but it's still a very solid pokemon. I mean, it has the same damage potential as a Goodra, and more overall bulk, so I'd say it's at least close to a Goodra or Hydreigon. With those base stats and that balance, you can only be so bad. and I'll admit it is flawed. It does have that crippling weakness to fairy, but that's what you have teammates for. To cover for it. And with its great defenses and the fact it does have a lot of resistances does give it chances to come in and setup. And that's what I think makes Kommo-O really strong: its versatility. It has work up, swords dance, dragon dance, iron defense, automize, bulk up and other boosting moves, and while its movepool certainly could be better, to be sure, it has what it needs to do what it wants to do. I think it's better to look at Kommo-O as a bulky fighting type with dragon type stab rather than trying to run it as a straight dragon dancer. I think a subBulkup set could work well, as could a SubSalac set as well. Plus, AV would give it great tanking potential too (if only it had drain punch). Ultimately, I feel like any set, besides like choice scarf or something obviously, is better off investing in HP or defense and Attack or Sp. Attack, because even boosted our speed won't be the best regardless, but if we have enough bulk to ensure we can get at least 2 or 3 dragon dances, then we are a lot better off. It also has some nifty support options like taunt, noble roar, Roar, or Dragon Tail to do the same thing and get STAB, and even Safeguard which not a lot of pokemon even get. I don't know, I just don't think he gave it quite enough credit. It might be flawed, but it has a lot of different options to work with.

Well, yeah. I feel like once it gets some move tutors, it will be really good. I'd even prefer Drain Punch over something like Close Combat (since that move lowers its defenses, which is one of its strength) With that, it could essentially be a better version of AV Conkeldurr. And while it probably doesn't mean much, that Kommo-O in the battle tree does have Shell Smash could mean it might get that in the future... or maybe that they originally planned for it to have it and then didn't adjust the set when they took it away. Though I do feel like a Max HP, Max Attack/Sp. Attack AV set is one of its better sets as is. And that's one of its strengths: Its unpredictability. You can't really know from the start just what kind of Kommo-o you're dealing with whether it's physical/special/mixed, has a choice band, choice specs, or choice scarf or something else with a more defensively minded set.

I feel like Verlis keeps missing the Z-Move Nuke strategy for many Pokémon, though he did put it out there for Magearna. For example, with Kommo-o, you can do this (in this format, you can even import it into the Teambuilder on Showdown): Kommo-o @ Dragonium Z Ability: Soundproof Level: 50 EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD Adamant Nature - Outrage - Dragon Dance - Sky Uppercut - Earthquake With this, you can pull off a very powerful Devastating Drake without the downsides of Outrage. It's bulk invested to give it a chance to survive setting up Dragon Dance. Another example of a Pokémon that can pull this off is a Typhlosion that I'm planning to run on a sun team (also has Tapu Bulu for Grassy Terrain support). Firestorm (Typhlosion) (M) @ Firium Z Ability: Blaze Level: 50 EVs: 252 SpA / 6 SpD / 252 Spe Timid Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Blast Burn - Solar Beam - Eruption - Focus Blast You can run Protect instead of Eruption if you prefer it, but note that this set is meant for Doubles.

General Question, do you build a pokemon for a team or a team for a pokemon? In ORAS I used to breed pokes like crazy and often ended up making different sets of the same pokemon for team purposes. I mean in the Ultra games, he can learn Close Combat and Drain Punch for good fighting moves. He does have a handful of coverage moves he can learn like Poison Jab and Earthquake, and his signature z move ups all his stats by one stage. I honestly feel like his biggest problem is his speed, but that can be easily circumvented by using something like Trick Room or Dragon Dance. All in all, I think he has potential in the right hands.

I did a physical wall set with Iron Defense and Dragon Dance. Since most of its weaknesses use special moves primarily, Kommo-o can shut down most physical attacks rather quickly.

I ran this in a double tournament last night: BProof jolly max speed ev max (even) hp ev salac berry substitute belly drum sky up cut EQ turn 1: sub 2: belly>salac (sub shouldn't poof until second turn if hit by none super effective) 3:sweep I got to 2 HKO and 3 HKO celsteela multiple times.

To be fair, Dragon type Pokemon have always been really REALLY strong. Don't believe me? Look at Dragonite, if that things gets away with a free D-Dance, it can sweep teams. Garchomp to was pretty threatening since it was extremely fast paired with Choice Scarf. Goodra is just to bulky for a Dragon, with that massive Sp.Def stat and paired with Assault Vest, it was a nightmare for even Protean Greninja and other Special Ice sweeps. I guess they added fairy types to help counter Dragon Types since before the only quick way to deal with it was to have another Dragon, or an Ice type which if u think about it aren't abundant. Plus they did it so that Poison type Pokemon were more better as a type,and also Steel.

Earthquake would give him something to use against Aegislash. Other than that, Sky Uppercut would be better just for the stab, cuz its not like anyone would bring in a steel type other than Aegislash against a Fighting type generally. The speed could be an issue though cuz a set up Aegislash could remove Kommo-o with a Sacred Sword unless you're set up first lol

But it's still hard to do a proper EV spread. If you do Max Atk and Max Sp.Atk, you'll have no speed unless you run Trick Room. And even if if you do run Trick Room, 85 speed is not that slow. Not to mention Tapu Fini, Koko, and Lele can easily defeat it. Not to mention outside of vgc 17 like Mega Mawile. (I do give it credit for being immune to Pixilate Hyper Voice tho)

Eh, I feel like he's underestimating what Kommo-o can do. Kommo-o is certainly no Garchomp, but I don't think it's a bad Pokemon to use. It's high stats in Attack and Special Attack gives it versatility so that you can go with a Physical Attacker or a Special Attacker with pretty good defensive stats. For a Physical Attacker, use Dragon Claw, Sky Uppercut, Poison Jab (for Fairies) and Rock Slide (for Flying and Ice and other coverage). Yeah, you don't use Dragon Dance, but if you invest the EVs into Attack and Speed, odds are you won't need it (especially if it has a Nature boosting speed), or just drop Rock Slide if Dragon Dance is so important. For Special Attacker (which might be better), use Clanging Scales, Focus Blast, Flash Cannon (great for Ice and Fairies) and Flamethrower for coverage.

The problem is the many of them are slow other than the UBs and Legenadaries. Literally every gen before it has on average more faster pokemon. Idk what the fuck GF were doing with their speed stats. Also to a lesser extent movepools for the new pokemon aren't great either(What they did with Oricorio is criminal) Shame, because i love most of the gen 7 pokemon.
