I just ordered the 12 zone V2 interface kit and am looking forward to getting it installed and seeing the 2nd installation of this video. I have an older Ademco alarm panel labeled as a First Alert FA160C and really want to be able to see the status of all zones and arm/disarm remotely. Once I get a better feeling for the mounting space requirements outside of the existing metal alarm box, I’ll buy a plastic/PVC box to mount the main Konnected boards with the WiFi antennas.

My 1st Gen 12 zone, 2 WiFi boards have been working great in our metal alarm box, with door closed, over a year now. I did put an Access Point in the next room, about 20 feet away, 2 doors, one wall in between just to make sure no dropped connections. I will say the WiFi signal is pretty strong with these modules. I remember connecting to the Konnected board during setup from 2 rooms away, about 40-50 feet. You may try in your metal box first, if you have room. These boards are real small.

My Wife and I just set up our DSC PC1616 system with the integration kit and have it up and running in Konnected cloud/Smart things with 6 zones. It did require a good deal of tuning the zone potentiometers but we finally found the sweet spot for each :-) Was happy to find an Aux Pwr pigtail in the accessory kit. We wound up needing the last open receptacle in the closet for a Wifi extender since the panel is at the opposite end of the house from my router the wifi was an issue. A Linksys AC-750 did the job nicely. Great job Nate! Huge fan so far. Like others would love to see a relay kit video? Cheers!

To make it work you need to get a keypad just like yours to be able to program the zone change. You can directly connect a secondary programming capable keypad to the board, as someone had already placed the connecting wires ready. I guess ADT didn't want to make programming easy lol

"3-wire" smoke alarms are household AC powered. Yes, you can integrate those by using a smoke alarm relay that is designed for your brand of smoke alarm. The relay usually connects to the last smoke alarm in the series, and then provides NO / NC contacts to connect to a Konnected zone. Is it safe to have the main board outside the metal enclosure? Does it detect tampering and trigger the alarm (e.g. by cutting the ribbon cable)?
@Konnected-io4 жыл бұрын
If the ribbon cable was cut or disconnected, then all zones would appear as open. It doesn't interfere at all with the function of your traditional wired alarm system -- so any tamper protection that your traditional system has would still be in effect. In this use case, the traditional system still acts as the alarm, and the Konnected device is only passively observing the status of the zones on top of it. Also -- if you have a burglar who was able to enter your home, find the alarm panel, and tamper with it without tripping any sensors along the way then you have bigger problems that wouldn't be solved by any alarm system.

The wifi strength on the Konnected boards is SO inadequate. In testing, mine would not read more than 62% strength even when I had the Konnected board 1 ft away from my big 4-antenna router. To try and get around this, I installed a wifi repeater within a few feet of the Konnected wifi module. There the Konnected board only gets about 23% signal strength which is miserable. It is outside the alarm panel, vulnerable to dust and water and tampering. How about if you make a fitting on the Konnected board that would hook to a wifi antenna sticker? The Konnected board would go INSIDE the metal panel and the wifi sticker antenna would go on the OUTSIDE of the metal alarm system panel?
