My Korat Boy turned 20 years old this past February. The vet was amazed at his muscle mass for such an elderly gentleman. He has CKD, but it's totally managed. He's been an indoor kitty his whole life. At 20 yrs and only 7 lbs, he's still the alpha.

I found a beautiful calico one right after a hurricane hit. She was only about a month old and just showed up outside my house scared and hungry. I asked around but never found the mother. She is very affectionate towards me but will actively swat at other people it's hilarious.

I've had the privilege of sharing my life with a wonderful korat called Gracie. She was the most beautiful, loyal, bright, cuddly + loving little girl in the world. Miss my little girl so much 💔😢

I cannot express how phenomenal they are….smart loyal funny playful protective basically what im trying to say is my dog meows. I hope that y’all get to experience the brilliance of the Si Sawatt “the good luck cat” One last thing some will be born with dark blue eyes and as they get older the color turns into a beautiful copper that turns into a goldenish shade of yellow and then emerald green it’s wild to see. This happens with some of them but not all but in the end a beautiful emerald green. To everyone who took the time to read all this thank you and have a great day or night wherever you are on this rock we call earth

You're right🙂 exactly with my Misha. She had copper eyes and when she was hungry they would turn a beautiful emerald green. Smart,funny, loyal, wouldn't mind swating other people but loved me❤ so affectionate. Followed me around the house like a dog and I miss her every day. I was lucky to have her for the time I did. And now I want another someday if I'm lucky enough 🐈🙂they are a wonderful breed of cat.

Neighbors had a 6 month old Korat that they apparently intended as an outdoor cat, despite it being declawed. After a few days with an empty water bowl and an ant infested food bowl, she followed our indoor outdoor cats home and hid in a bush until she saw a chance to run in when we opened the door. Cat walked to the food and water in the kitchen then down the hall to the litter box like she'd lived there her whole life. Went under a futon, slept for over 12 hours straight and never tried to go outside. We didn't steal the neighbor's cat. The cat just moved in. Sweetest cat I've ever met. Funniest thing was how she'd tidy up the litter box if the 2 boys didn't bury their business.

That's an amazing story. You don't choose cats, they choose you. I have a Korat that cane from a barn half a mile away. She's my baby girl. I pamper her but she has an attitude towards other cats that try to show me affection. She's boujee for sure. I call her my little Bouj Bouj

How can anyone declaw a cat?? Barbaric. This is illegal in Europe, thank god
@diatribe5Ай бұрын
I don't know how it is in America nowadays, but if it's barbaric, vets should not be allowed to do this.

My girlfriend rescued/found a korat cat 2 years ago on this day! She was still a kitten. She found her on a bush crying and alone. She took her home. She thought she was dirty but when she washed her fur she was gray! she never knew her genetics/breed till i looked it up. Such a clumsy, loving and funny cat. We love her to death!!

Note: This video has a mix of Korats and Russian Blues (and it can be very hard to tell the difference as they are similar in so many ways). I have owned both, am in communities for both, and know the telling characteristics. Many experts will say look for the heart shaped face for the Korat. But, this is too imprecise, as while a touch boxier the Russian Blues can tend to be a boxy triangle (like a heart). Instead look at the eyes. Korats will have a more slanted V shaped pair of eyes, while russian blues are straight across and rounder. Also, the ears vary slightly, with Korats being thinner and pointer, the Blue a bit rounder. (But, the ears are like the face, touch and go.) Another good place to look is at the jowel. Korats jowels tend to sag, while russian blues do not, they have a tighter jowel line. This difference grows with age. Both have a sag to their bellies as they pass 2 to 3 years of age. Although, my experience is that Blues have more belly sag. A really good tell is the legs. Blues, while heavier, have thinner/longer bones, and can jump up to 8ft-10ft in height (especially females) when thin, even as kittens. But, they can also retain more fat (especially males), which slows the jumping down. Korats on the other hand retain less fat (typically), but have shorter stouter legs as well, and while jumpers too, do not hit the same heights some female Blues can. (None of my Korats have ever sat on door tops, all of my female Blues sit on door tops. Leave a door open, it's their new perch) The really important thing to keep in mind when deciding between the two is life expectancy. Korats live 10-15 years, while blues live 14-25 years. Korats also suffer more medical ailments. Also, Korats are a single layer short hair, while Blues are a double layer short hair. (This is how I picked up on the Blues in the video.) The Blues denser double layer tends to put off less dander is the cat is regularly groomed. Anyway, a great site to see the differences is here: untamed.com/blogs/cat-breeds/korat-vs-russian-blue-cat

Thanks, I have a Russian stray, he walked up at maybe 3 months old. He has belly sag, retains a bit more fat and doesn't show the signs of being a faithful little guy, as they say this korat is possessive and expressive. My little guy is definitely not expressive, and is very hard to get back into the house. I don't want to keep him indoors 100% of the time but I know it's not safe for him anymore to get out, after being fixed

I am not sure if my kitty Sage is one... she is all grey and has a bit of a striped tail in darker grey. She was a wild momma cat my niece found under her house all but one kitten died due to the winter and was white with grey stripes. She is semi tame and talks to me all the time 😅

Two defining factors are the ears positioned to point straight up, not at an angle, and the eyes go through a prolonged color change from yellow(gold) to green. There is a transition color in the middle where the eye is yellow except right around the iris where it is green. So the green starts to appear around the iris and then spreads out to encompass the entire eye to a solid emerald green.

Actually, adoption centers charge a fee for the cost it takes to vaccinate and treat the cats. However, the fee is much lower than the cost of a pedigreed cat

I first came across a Korat when an injured and negleted young kitten came running to me for help. I had never seen a cat like this, he looked different, had a black coat with a silvery sheen, almond blue green eyes and a long tail. Took me ages to discover he was the sacred cat of Thailand! I gave him a good home for 2 years, he was so playfull and loving, but died from a flea epidemic! I never knew fleas could kill a cat and when he needed help the vet was more concerned with money and relulations instead of taking blood from his mother or brother which would have saved him, but these scum wouldn't do it because i had no proof that they had no diseases! How hyprocritical and stupid was that when he was going to die without a transfusion! Because of them my little friend died, i tried for 2 days to get help, but all anyone seemed to care about was money instead of my cat's life! How pathetic which is why i hate humankind and their greed for money! Thankfully i still have his brother, his mum and his sister and i keep them inside to protect them from the scum of humanity and all the horrible diseases out there!

One of the defining attributes of a Korat, the eyes go through a prolonged eye color change. In some cases, the Korat's eyes do not completely change over to green until they are five years old. Korats are also known to have a heart-shaped head with their ears straight up on the head and not at an angle like the Russian Blue cat. All these things contribute to the Korat's exotic appeal akin to its Asian ancestry and origins. The Korat also does not have a thick undercoat because of its tropical origins, this makes the Korat ideal for those who may have dander allergies but still want a cat. However, because the Korat does not have a thick undercoat, in cold climates, the Korat needs special attention to be provided a warm environment so their body temperature does not drop too low. The more "Pure Bred" the Korat the more likely to have some health issues like knee joint issues and easily catching a cold/pneumonia. Also, you need to keep their ears clean as sebum can build up in the folds and crevices of the ears. Another known issue with purebred Korats is that they will need frequent eye cleaning to prevent infections or developing mucus stains. Basically, they get eye boogies every time they nap. Aside from these few possible health issues, the Korat is one of the best friends anyone could ever ask for.
