China's Belt And Road Initiative: Unleashing Soft Power On The New Silk Road For Global Relations

China's Belt and Road Initiative is a massive infrastructure investment plan aimed at recreating the Silk Road trade network, through the overland economic belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. What's in it for China? Analysis points to a desire for China to increase their soft power through their investment in the development of other Asian countries. Their hope is that this will encourage other states to want to work more positively with China in return. Will it work?

Read the conditions of the contract. For instance, can china call in the full loan amount at any Time? Great coercion power right there.
