For someone who is currently learning Mandarin, would it be easier or more difficult to learn Korean at the same time? I'm a native English speaker from the U.S. who also dabbles in French, Spanish, and ASL. 😅

@@tinyguitarthewanderingbard ooh I'm learning Mandarin Chinese too!! I'm bilingual (spanish & english) and I also learned a bit of french too!! Ok I got a little excited but my professor said if you learn Mandarin, it will be easier to learn Korean and Japanese. But I'd say it could could be helpful to learn them at the same time if you can handle it since they use similar characters sometimes

@btsmultistan ok, we should become friends so we can practice together!! 😅 I don't have anyone around me to do that with anymore. I want to try them all at the same time now but I'm also sure that's how I'll overwhelm myself. I frequently get overzealous. 😂
@atiny_multi
@atiny_multi 4 ай бұрын
@@tinyguitarthewanderingbard I'd love that! I don't usually meet people to practice with so it's kinda hard to know if I'm sounding right lol. I tried learning French and Portuguese at the same time and almost cried haha. Same with Thai and Korean. So now I guess I'll stick to one language at a time. But I'd definitely be willing to help you anytime!

Same here. German teacher. Also, that moment when there's a blatant, recurring mistake but they're in the groove right now and you're so proud of them, so you're debating whether to break their flow to make sure they don't internalize the errors or whether overcorrecting them will make them feel insecure and more hesitant to speak at all.
@thynisia396

As a language student, that will definitely make us feel insecure if you point it out straight away lol, because at that moment we're really making an effort. Probably point it out later during the class or at the end, one on one. We're more calm and will be more open to the correction.

Even if we used englisch words or phrases They answered in korean, to help us get used to the language, even in class, They only used korean. Good to know that it is not just me encountering this. 😅 However, this process is necessary, as it builds their confidence to be able to freely speak in the future without all the hesitating and stammering. It is always so encouraging when the student finally gets it right. This is what I live for as an English teacher. 😍

I hope all korean teachers are like thisㅠㅠ I have been studying for 3 years on and off, but until now, I'm having hard time conveying my thoughts in korean co'z most of my teachers didn't give me the chance to actually have a two-way conversation, before I finish a sentence they would butt in and finish it. I ended up only doing gestures, sign language, and saying 네 네 네. I don't know, maybe they were feeling awkward, or they didn't have any patience to wait. ㅠㅠ

Try preply. I have a teacher named Yeseul 예슬 and she is amaaaaazing. She waits so patiently until I am like ..."help," and then she tells me the word. It isn't free, but it 50 minutes and for 25$ and it might help one time a week to be able to speak to someone who gives you a chance. Or you can try others for cheaper
