Funny thing, this is about the same setup D. A. F. used on their early tracks. Same with Nitzer Ebb during their Basic Pain Procedure days. You don't need a ton of gear to make good tunes.

Chance Meeting thanks! I like the sound of the Odyssey more (precise PWM) for EBM, classic sound. But it has to be sequenced. That's what I'd take the monologue in latch mode for :) or Arturia keystep.

Hi, nice demo. Is this your own composition or a DAF song.
@elekktrikk_home_video4 жыл бұрын
I think the sequence was based on Der Mussolini by D.A.F. From there believe I made variations and tried to maintain the style. AFAIK D.A.F. used an ARP sequencer and therefore could make sequences with free tuning. That’s why no cover ever hits the spot :) But with an Odyssey and Behringer's new Eurorack (Moog) Sequencer (CV) it would be possible to play in the same ballpark, I guess. :) With the Arp sequencer you start with all sliders completely down and then slide some notes up. That leads to these typical baselines. It is a little more complicated (mind-wise) to do it with chromatic keys. Oh - and did I mention that Elektron's model:cycles and model:samples are microtonal by default (1/10th semitone)? :D

In the early 80s, they couldn't create a harsher sound on synthesizers such as Korg or Moog. So they used a Marshall guitar amp and some studio effects.

If I only have ableton, and my monologue how can do it?
@elekktrikk_home_video6 жыл бұрын
David make an audio click track with 8th or 16th (you can record it from the Korg iOS sync app or create on your own) in ableton and feed that click audio signal to the trigger in of the monologue. That should sync it and make synchronised transposition in latch mode possible.
@elekktrikk_home_video6 жыл бұрын
David or you could sequence the monologue directly with midi notes from ableton midi clips and live transpose ableton (there are videos here on KZbin how to do that)
@punkotero6 жыл бұрын

I can sync my monologue to ableton, but when i went enter in the tranpose mode, stops the song
@elekktrikk_home_video6 жыл бұрын
David syncing with monologur internal sequences only works correctly if the monologue is slaved to an analog trigger signal (like here in this video). If you have ableton why don't you make midi sequence clips in ableton and transpose ableton? Search for real-time midi transpose ableton. ask.audio/articles/ableton-live-transposing-clips-using-a-midi-keyboard

Damn, I thought somebody might know an answer or what to do :( I've been looking into this with no progress. If I may ask, did you try using the Monologue in a setup with a PC? If yes, did it work no problem?
@elekktrikk_home_video7 жыл бұрын
Sidvs The Monologue is great and works fine with midi over midi or midi over usb. The only strange thing I found is the fact that it won’t behave as expected in latch mode (free or midi-synced) - it always resets at key press (not at the next 16th note). I am glad it works the way I want it when synced to analog pulses (as demonstrated here).
@Sidus6667 жыл бұрын
Elekktrikk Thanks, I managed to work out the usb midi slave issue. However, I can't seem to be able to transpose the sequence when slaved to DAW... The KEY TRG/HOLD function always deactivates when I start the transport in the DAW and the sequence starts normally, but playing the keys just adds notes on top of the sequence that is playing. Please do you know how to fix this? :(
@elekktrikk_home_video7 жыл бұрын
Is the sequence you want to transpose saved in the monologue patch or do you want to send it from ableton and transpose with the monologue (the latter would not work)?
