Much underestimated synth. Just bought one second hand and fell in love instantly. It sounds totally analogue.

ended up getting this over a microbrute cause it could sequence/store all the knobs which seemed kinda wild for the price. now im reminiscing over the monotribe and monotron

I got a black one. By the way, you ever try pressing a button in the step sequencer when it's starting up? It's an Easter egg, but if you haven't seen it, I'll not spoil it.

Aww it's left the studio now and I didn't see it!!

Fantastic synth, definitely one of my faves. I use it with my Elektron boxes and the "motion sequencing" aka parameter locks is just on another level combined with those. Also having it instantly change patches with automated program changes while switching patterns on the Elektrons is extremely useful in a live setting. Many people seriously underestimate this synth.

Yep I think it’s got all the power that you need for its intended purpose. Great for plugging into effects too.

What a gem! That Korg is jam packed with features that rivals the big boys. Would love to get my hands on one in the used market if can find a deal. Thanks for sharing this video. Looking forward to more videos with that Korg Monologue

It appears in couple of my other vids featuring sequencers and midi gear. It’s a great test keyboard for that kind of stuff.

Having wood panels which look like something you’d see at Grandmaw’s house is kind of counter to the “futuristicness” just imo, lol.

I like my Korg monologue. Despite being made on Friday (misaligned keyboard and some cold solder under Drive knob) and me not being a fan of black knobs with black indicator lines (WTF - I can't see that stuff in dim light), I think sonically it is very competent at what it does. I also like anodised finishes and wanted the RED one like yours to match the electribe ER as my rhythm section, but two years ago the only thing we had in shops was Ford's Model T colors, cos y'know, someone let the bugs out and the choices were limited for a while. Now it matches my minilogue XD so it's okay. And although I am not a fan of wooden inserts on electronic equipment either, i find that monologue sits nicely in vertical position when not in use and it doesnt scrape or tilt on sockets when doing so. Also lately i discovered that wooden attachments in general invite themselves toward customisation very easily - either through rework of existing pieces or aftermarket replacement with your own names or logos etc, and I think that's pretty cool. I wonder if there will be Mark II, or will they paint black and red and call it EXtra Bass 🤪

I've wanted one of these for ages. Such fun! Oddly? A Vox Valve Energy preamp pedal I have for guitar has a very similar oscilloscope for seemingly no apparent reason. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not entirely coincidental as Vox and Nutube are owned by Korg. I wish monologue had knobs like valvenergy pedals.
@EasyHeat

@@mack_solo agreed. I really want the Vox-ish ValveEnergy pedal as well as the "Cutting Edge" one. I'm willing to bet both run in parallel would do that #2 Foo Fighters album tone for days: )

Kicking me self for not getting this when I had the chance for only $200USD! But I had to fix my Van to return home so it was Van and return home or Korg Monologue and be stranded.. choices choices..

...clearly the wrong choice 🤪 I know the feeling though, a many times car parts took away the budget for synths 😥

I really admire your attempts to lower the perceived value of music gear by showing how crap it can sound because you have no idea what you're doing.

I dunno. I like his "down to earth" approach to reviewing music gear. I like Glynn, but you, with no channel content at all? Got to tell ya... bad pussy!🙀

Because your channel has sooooooo much content. Why the hate bro? Gearfacts is for people like me, not recording stars like yourself.

I can't seem to comprehend why the bad feedback. The contents he presents us is basically exploring what these keyboards can do. Doesn't , mean he has to know %100 how it fully operates, yet he does have some knowledge given all these years he's dealt with many other keyboards, synths, etc.
