Thank you for a very nice video. I am Japanese. KORG is a Japanese musical instrument maker, but since arranger keyboards are not popular in Japan, there are few opportunities to see them at musical instrument stores, and only Pa1000 is sold. Unfortunately, PA5x is not available domestically. I was surprised at the high-class appearance, high sound quality, and high functionality of the KRONOS2 and Pa series. Currently, the yen is depreciating, and it is difficult for individuals to import high-priced products from overseas (though they are Japanese products, they are not distributed). I envy those who live in the UK and enjoy PA5x.
@abohsukampret2 жыл бұрын
Ah, the pain of having to import your own product. Just curious though, what about Yamaha Genos? Its availability in your country, I mean.
@hiro_taka2 жыл бұрын
@@abohsukampret YAMAHA Genos has not been released in Japan. KORG is an affiliated company invested by YAMAHA. YAMAHA is focusing on the music classroom business, and its main business is Electone. If the arranger keyboard becomes widespread, it will not be possible to do the music classroom business that has greatly grown YAMAHA. Because of that, we can predict that it will not be released in Japan in the future. Genos is only on display at the corporate museum on the premises of Yamaha headquarters. Arranger keyboards are little known to Japanese musicians and music lovers.

@@hiro_taka it’s interesting you mention Electone because that is only available in Japan. But on the surface it looks like the Electone and Genos/PSR series have common technology under the hood. With Korg, as far as I know the PA series is developed in Italy so it is kind of a European product.

I have a couple questions on the styles... Are all of them geared towards specific songs like Lovely Day, Billy Jean, Hey Jude, Get Lucky, etc. Or are there generic ones like 6/8 Blues, Bossa, Reggae, 4/4 Pop etc. that aren't obviously styled for specific songs, like they are generic backing tracks of whatever genre/style. Does the full keyboard work to auto-change the chords as you play along with the style or is it restricted for a couple notes in the bass? For example will it auto-change the chord if you use arpeggiated chords in the base with full chords in the treble? Not sure if I'm explaining that correctly to make sense.

Or wait and see if Korg comes out with a new flagship workstation that they announce at NAMM 2023 to replace the now-discontinued Kronos. I love my Kronos, but the 11 year old user interface is a nightmare compared to my Fantom 7. As a Genos professional user, there are, unsurprisingly many unanswered questions. Fr me, the genos is o/s sonically but the OS is as the norm with Yamaha, absolutely rubbish, unintuitive, overly complex and the panel button layout ill thought out for live use. Korg are usually far better in that area as seems here. Having invested many hundreds of hours into genos specific voicing, midi files, sing sets etc, I hope most would be transferable. I find the genos inspiring and demoralising in equal amounts and korg tend to get the performance and user interface better which for me is actually just as important because being honest they all sound amazing.

You are so right. Song writing changed for me when I bought a PA 1000, the styles and sequencer were so easy to use. But as you said, I would use the PA 1000 for song creation and my Yamaha Keyboards for lead or pianos sounds (Motif61 SPEX90). But that changed when I bought a Nautilus 61 & 76. So... If this Pa5x has the sounds and key bed of the Nautilus and an improved arranger capability... Then I think the King (Genos) might have some competition.
