When I first got this synth, I was quite confused and didn’t really understand how I could use this making my own music. The presets are great fun, but I kind of felt like I was jamming with other people’s designs/ideas/songs. So I watched many hours of KZbin videos, read the manual twice and spent a lot of time just goofing around and seeing what happens if I twist this knob or change this parameter. For me, it helped to start from scratch, with the basics, without any wavesequencing, just the basic synth engine with oscillators, envelopes, filters and LFOs. Then I slowly wrapped my head around wavesequencing after that. I’m still very much a beginner and learning new stuff every day. So, welcome to the club and enjoy your Wavestate :-).

interesting to see how everyone uses their wavestate. this is a very nice jam. it's like you have a 4 channel cosmic groovebox thing, with a complex performance, going. I use wavestate for a wall of sound and i change patches as my performance variation. the last note of the previous patch will sustain after the change which makes transition smooth. a sustain pedal is very helpful. i also have been recombining programs from performance patches that i really like, and building sets of patches that have slight changes. Then i can switch to a different patch tweak just by touching one button on the row of setlist buttons. This is a brilliant piece of gear by korg Everyone should get one of these, just to explore if nothing else. "Big Kid Infinite Lego Set". Also, it was predicted in ancient times that the waveformer would achieve wavestate some day. lol.

I shamefully admit that I sold my old Roland Juno 106 in the early 90s (to buy an Ensoniq EPS 16+, which I absolutely loved, to be honest). However, my wife was able to track it down a few years ago, and found it stored away at the back of a closet in a children’s choir rehearsal room. She bought it back for around 80 USD and gave it to me for Christmas. That was one happy reunion. It even still had the few stickers I had put on 😊.

I love Wavestate's sound quality. My unit is a week old. It makes playing whole notes easy because the built-in performances seem to be movie background music. The synthesizer, unfortunately, fails to communicate with a PC running Windows 10 (2004 version). Other music products work fine. Why are the Korg drivers incompatible? Thanks for showing us what the system can do.
@Waveformer4 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked it 😊. I’m really enjoying the Wavestate. Luckily I haven’t updated Windows, so I’m able to update the Wavestate. Hope they get this sorted out soon. Would be much better if Korg used MIDI instead of NDIS.
@thomasinlondon28493 жыл бұрын
I’m using the latest version of Windows and it works fine. You don’t need drivers for this Wavestate. USB midi works directly out of the box with all versions of Windows 10. No drivers required. If you want to run the sound library with some versions of Windows you’ll need to follow three simple steps. Hope you figure how to do this easy stuff, as this keyboard is brilliant.

Very nice! Why did you decide to buy the Korg Wavestate and not for example the Behringer Deepmind 12 or the ASM Hydrasynth?
@Waveformer4 жыл бұрын
I already have a Roland Juno 106, which is similar to the DeepMind. The Hydrasynth wasn’t on my radar for some reason. I guess it was because the desktop version wasn’t out yet, and the keyboard version was too expensive for me. The Hydrasynth looks like a really great synth. I liked the sound demos I heard from the Wavestate, and Loopop’s video demonstrated how easy it was to program. It looked like a really complex synth with lots of knobs and a good user interface for programming. And I must say that I’m super happy with it so far 😀.

I purchased this set and played with it for the first time this night. Why do some of the patches keep playing even after I select a different patch? I don't think that happens with other patches on the WS.
@Waveformer4 жыл бұрын
All patches behave like this if you hold down keys or play the arpeggiator while changing to a different patch. Korg calls this Smooth Sound Transition. You can turn off this behavior in the utility menu, under Preferences, SST hold time (set to 0). Or you can switch to another patch and back again, and the playing will stop.
