Love this piece, especially with the haunting pads layered in, very Tangerine Dreamish!

This is so wonderful. Absolutely great ambient regardless how it is implemented. On top of that you can see the full performance on a single synth. Some of the best patches are even available for studying and toying around.

I play with iWavestation on my phone when stuck at places with no gear. It boggles my mind one of Dave Smiths products is still ahead of its time even when he had left us. Legend is not a strong enough word.
@Q-BOT2 жыл бұрын
Not related to the synth talk, but, Isn't it weird how watered down a word as powerful as LEGEND has become?
@Waveformer2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Dave is a true legend. Cool that Korg Carrie’s on his legacy in the Wavestate 🎹😀
@Jason759132 жыл бұрын
If there was more demand for workstations like the Wavestation, we would have had Korg build upon it long ago. We're barely getting its successor now because there is no demand, so this looks like an experiment by Korg. For sequencing, this isn't as practical as other gear or VSTs.

Top! I admire you working with the wavestate... The reason I also got one, but on the other hand a bit depressing to never reach your level of confidence with this machine. But it is nice playing with it and seeing what it is capable of. Great work. Thanks!

Excellent as always, is this patch available, I don’t spend as much time with my Wavestate and modwave as I should. Fantastic 😉
@Waveformer2 жыл бұрын
Thanks 😊. I go back and forth between the relatively complex and deep Wavestate and simpler synths like the MicroFreak. I haven’t had much time with the modwave lately, but it’s a great synth and I’ll get back to it after my soundbank for the Wavestate is finished.

So good ❤ I'm seriously considering buying Wavestate...
@vladimirvoevodich6232 жыл бұрын
This performance is really amazing, but it's very hard to perform on Wavestate something like that - In january I bought WS being inspired by Thomas videos and some days ago I sold it cuz IT'S really great but VERY VERY complicated instrument. And you still can perform tracks like this using groovebox like Roland MC-101. For some people (like Thomas) it's a kind of competition with yourself to make such masterpieces but I do believe for 99% of people more important to achieve results with less effort.
@orchidsvoid2 жыл бұрын
@@vladimirvoevodich623 thank you for explanation. I personally own Hydrasynth and it seems "easier" than Wavestate.

You produced the BEST Sounds in your packs, bought the both as I bought the WS ! Do we have a Christmas present coming soon in Volume 3 by any chance? Congrats on all your incredible output, I might also get the Microfreak because of your performances, just mainly for the sequencer/arp modulation as the sounds are not to my liking. Just bought the ZOOMCDR as well on sale at AZ :) Thank you sir!

This beautiful! I have a question, are your soundbanks able to be fully uploaded to the Wavestate or does the synth need to be connect to computer/sound library to be used? Thank you! Excellent work!
@Waveformer Жыл бұрын
You need a computer running Korg’s Editor/Librarian to transfer the soundbank. After that you don’t need the computer anymore. The soundbank is stored on the Wavestate hardware and stays there even if you power off the synth, disconnect it from the computer, etc. :-)
@Sopharette2 жыл бұрын
How many times did you have to record this until you got it right?
@Waveformer2 жыл бұрын
Well, I did just one take. And that’s what you hear in the video. But I had prepared some jam notes in advance and did a few practice rounds before I hit record. Every time around it sounded a bit different, but that’s what you get when you jam live as opposed to recording track by track and polish it afterwards. It’s far from perfect, but it’s live :-).
@smartti1970 Жыл бұрын
Are the sequences on board ? Or music you created ?
@Waveformer Жыл бұрын
It’s a live improvisation without preprogrammed sequences in the regular sense. I do use arpeggiators, though. And, the performance uses the wave sequence feature of the Wavestate, so the sample and sound parameters change synchronized to the beat.

@@Waveformerjust for information: game console Dendy - is a clone of NES, distributed in ex USSR territories, in early 90s. So, in my opinion, your beautiful sounds is not (and never) reminds sounds of NES!
@Waveformer2 жыл бұрын
@@vladikuz cool! I didn’t know about the Dandy console. I googled it now and it has a nice old school sound. I used the decimator effect on the Wavestate to emulate old 8 and 12 bit D/A converters. I guess I’m nostalgic and like the sound of old gaming consoles 😁.

@@Waveformer:) ahh.. but, yes, agree - the decimator is make sounds slightly remembered to sounds of 8-bit consoles ("chiptunes").
