It's kind of weird people complain about this synth being hard to work with, yet there are so few views of these videos from the actual manufacturer; this series of videos make it pretty easy to understand what's going on.

An excellent tutorial series needed for this super complex instrument, thank you!

Thank you very much for making these videos! The Wavestate is AWESOME!!! It may have been helpful if you explained what a "Lane" is opposed to a layer upfront. It is such a new workflow for most of us who've not owned a Wavestation that it might have given a little more context to the rest of the video. (Also, there is nothing about Lanes in the first part of the manual that has the structure graphic on page #3 it's not until you do a search for lane that you finally find it's explanation on page 17, again frustrating but at least it's there). Thanks again Korg for the product AND the videos!

Honestly I am assuming the budget for these videos was zero. The camera angles and editing of these videos are horrible to follow what is happening. At 02:45 for example, he mentions "multisample" - I have no idea what that is/what it does, it doesn't show on the screen, and when they change to the crappy side angle that blocks half the screen, there's been an edit/cut so the info on screen is totally different. Crossfades instead of clean cuts are a pain too. At 4:55 there's a mess of quick camera changes which are for some unknown reason in a mix of fades and cuts. It's like the person that made this video has never been near a keyboard or a produced a gear video before. Sorry that's harsh but for a synth that requires such a deep dive, clear tutorials are crucial.

I think these videos would be made better if they didn't cut to the second shot showing the synth at an angle. These videos are something closer to a viewable user manual than a product demo, so a second shot isn't likely to add anything for the target audience, given its purpose. Frequently cutting to a shot which makes it more difficult to see what parameter is being edited or what is showing on the display seems something like frequently changing the font of a printed user manual to make it look more dynamic, even if the second font is harder to read. I think there's a good reason why Cuckoo's synth tutorial videos are so widely loved, and part of that is a single clear and stable shot, among other things. We're here for information rather than to be entertained. Written as a comment on the internet, this sounds like more of a moan than I intend it to be. I am otherwise grateful Korg made these at all, and they are still helpful.

You lost me at about 6:55. I have no idea how you assigned the samples so quickly.

I wish the hold function would be on the panel (for example double clicking tempo button) , don’t really want to carry a hold pedal , and I know I can latch the arp function by shift+arp but that is not hold the keys function as the jd-xi has , A direct hold button and it’s very helpful with multi timbral synths
@batchas2 жыл бұрын
I was myself looking for a way to simply latch notes (not in arpeg mode) and found out that double clicking SHIFT will make SHIFT latch, so I can have one hand playing notes, press LATCH and it will hold the played notes.

He also needs to reflect the buttons with what they are described as, "He mentions, turn down the Probability 5:46min into the video, there is no Probability button, a cutoff maybe??
@moonsugar14 жыл бұрын
Probability doesn't have a button, you select it on the menu and then use the value knob to adjust as you see him doing at that part of the video. The Wavestate is as deep as an ocean so not everything can be mapped to a single button. You CAN assign things to buttons though, I know it works for Mod, so you might be able to do that with probability - but I've only had it for like three days and haven't got that far underwater yet lol. Also these tutorials are not the best. I mean, in the first introduction video he jumps straight to talking about randomisers before he even told people about presets and the init patch!

@@moonsugar1 Totally agree, the first vid drove me to the cliff edge (but not literally) I've had mine since Black Friday, just trying to learn it quick, but that won't be the case..

Noticed uneven gaps on the white keys, is this a manufacturing problem, or does anyone else on here have the same issue?
@thomaskolb87854 жыл бұрын
Yep, the slight gap between the B and C keys is positively a bit OCD-disturbing. It is the same on the Wavestate. Nothing to worry about though

Speaking about "soloing step": doesn't works correctly when using Wavestate editor.

This video is very confusing because you are not explaning the right order to reach your screens when you edit the video.

I tried this and when I went through steps they all sounded the same . What have I done wrong . Or could you slow down a bit , it was way too fast
@jonathonleetoas46424 жыл бұрын
What I am struggling to work out form the videos I have watched of the Wavestate is can you create your own sounds in the 'traditional' way you can on the Prologue or in Serum using ADSR envelopes or is the Wavestate more of a ROM / Sampler player with in-depth editing functions?
@jonathonleetoas46424 жыл бұрын
@sbmphr that is great thank you for the reply, was just concerned it was a indepth and complexed rom/ sampler player as opposed to a programable "traditional" synth. Now to just wait for some stock to get to the uk......
@Hanoveur3 жыл бұрын
This isn't a tutorial. You're literally flying through each step. I suggest looking up Cuckoos Wavestate Tutorial and using that one instead. He goes slow and methodically and explains the workflow as well as how to design a sound.
@DM436854 жыл бұрын
This video is very choppy in its instruction, there's little detail or focus in the key areas, in the first 3 minutes I was just lost on where he was compared to myself. It needs re-doing for a basic level, Its not meant for the beginner like me, very disappointed
