Korkut SPAAGs delivered to TSK

Thirteen Aselsan Korkut twin 35 mm self-propelled anti-aircraft gun (SPAAG) low altitude air defence systems have been delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), Ismail Demir, head of Turkey's Presidency of Defence Industries, announced on 12 November 2019. KORKUT's main mission is to protect other air defense systems (S-400, Hisar A-O and Siper) from cruise missiles. It is also an effective system against helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles.

This is a 2×35 mm Oerlikon KDC-02 cannon from the early 1950s, manufactured under licence by MKEK. Tracked Oerlikon KDC cannon with Radar is a nice concept from 1970. Like German Gepard etc.This concept is outdatet in western army's.

Actually, that chassis is derived from the M2 Bradley. The new ammunition for the 35mm guns sounds a lot of the AHEAD round that has been in service for AA and Anti-Missile roles for about a decade or so.

Korkut weighs 35 tons, its about 3 times as massive as M113.. Its chassis is more comperable to Puma or CV90 than M113.. Not everyone has good eyes obviously..

Command control vehicle has long range search radar, it is also part of Turkish layered air defence system, it can take targets even though it can not see, or report targets to that system. Weapon vehicles can track and engage by themselves. They have tracking radar and optical, tv sensors.
