Her level of comprehension is very admirable. Speaking and formulating sentences yourself can be very hard but in terms of listening she is very impressive. It would be so cool if she actually becomes fluent someday because we would actually see the evolution of a Japanese vtuber knowing very little english to becoming full on fluent. If you’re interested in a JP Vtuber who became English fluent, I recommend Tenma Maemi of Phase Connect. She’s technically an English Vtuber, but her first language is Japanese. If you compare her old streams to more recent ones she’s made insane progress. If I remember correctly, the whole reason she chose to be an EN Vtuber rather than a JP one was to learn English.

@@jakeplaysyt8000 Yeah I see her a lot in Nagzz videos, she's super hilarious. English is a really hard language especially when bouncing off of Japanese so it's really awesome. I feel like I see a lot more english vtubers learning japanese instead of japanese vtubers learning english which makes sense since the whole anime culture is based in Japan, but it's refreshing to see JP vtubers who make a really strong effort to connect with overseas audiences. Especially since we're gonna love them even if they ignore us lol

Every time Korone speaks English it is just ridiculously adorable, case in point, the amount of emphasis dhe put on the "a" in the word "really"

It feels like Korone has been power leveling her English comprehension in the background while working on her speaking by just interacting with the odd English chatter or EN members. Obviously kiara wasn't using very complex words, but she didn't exactly slow her speech or change her normal verbiage, but even then all the clips of that stream where korone is doing a great job as a TL for kiara is really quite impressive. I'd reckon with the pace some of the girls have shown, I'd say Korone, Subaru and maybe Fubuki or Nene might end up as conversational level proficient at spoken English, and I can't wait to see it!

Yeah, I think the only mistake Lui makes is when she uses the incorrect verb conjugation when speaking in the past tense, and it's not all the time, too. Lui is already good enough to hold a conversation with 99% accuracy

I feel like the combo of both wanting to work with HoloEN (outside of Kiara and Calli obviously) and Korone probably having the largest oversees fanbase in all of HoloJP motivate her to get better at English more than most. She's come a surprisingly long way from the Super Mario Bros. streams in a relatively short amount of time.

Indeed, she is extremely talented at conveying meaning with tone across a tonal pronunciation/atonal pronunciation divide of languages. (East Asian languages often have words using the same sounds but different tonal qualities meaning different things, which means meaning is harder to convey through inflection most of the time. English doesnt do this, and reserves inflection for conveying emotion. In some ways, Korone has more of a Western accent than most Japanese people speaking English, because her tone is so expressive in the English style, to the extent it causes issues back in Japanese (see Haagen-Dazs).

This might just be me noticing the smallest things, but her pronunciation of "circle" at 1:30 is insanely good for how hard it is to pronounce for native Japanese speakers. The L is native-like, she ended it with the consonant and not the vowel, and she nailed the hidden vowel between the C and the L.
