KORRA IS AN ABSOLUTE BEAST! Episode 1 of this fantastic series did not disappoint! Both Montana and I are reacting for the first time, and we love it so far! Cannot wait to see what happens next in Republic City!
Our Episode 2 reaction will be released on Thursday, 11/19 at 12 pm est!
As we get settled into our new apartment, we plan to do many more youtube live Q and A's, so be on the lookout for those in the near future!
ANNOUNCEMENT: We now have a PATREON available for EARLY ACCESS to episodes! Thank you to the 160 awesome people that have joined! All funds generated will go directly towards improving our reaction set up (and possibly hiring an editor so we can put out more videos), and would be much appreciated!
We also are adding a new perk, which is posting questions for us to answer after each episode, as I no longer know what to ask because I havn't seen the show before either! Join any level of the patreon to begin asking questions!!
Link: / lettsreact
We have 3 different tiers available, with increasingly awesome perks available for each level! As a member of the Letts React patreon, you are supporting us in our journey growing this community we have fostered on youtube and Tik Tok, and (depending on your tier), you can get EARLY ACCESS to AD-FREE UNCUT episodes, and get a shoutout as a patron before every video! Thank you in advance for everyone who checks that out!

Yeah when a avatar dies, the next avatar becomes what the previous avatar regrets not doing or being. Like Avatar Yangchen was a Workaholic and her biggest regret before she died was that she didn’t spend as much time with her friends and family, that’s how we got avatar Kurik who was more relaxed. Aang last probably biggest regret was not being the Accepting the role of being the Avatar earlier and being head on with the problems, that’s how we got Korra

also, something to keep in mind about Korra: she's extremely naive, brash, and a bit careless. the reason for that is her upbringing..she grew up coddled and protected in the southern water tribe, and has little experience with these modern things and also relationships with people. every other avatar traveled the world learning the elements, gaining knowledge and experience, growing emotional and actual intelligence about different parts of the world. Korra never got that, and I feel like people forget that and/or underestimate how much that changes a person.

Important thing to note: they didnt know they could do more than 1 season when they made this. That partially explains why every season feels quite self contained, or at least resolves quite well by the end of it. Its also why this first season at times feels a bit rushed.
@R0CKDRIG0
@R0CKDRIG0 4 жыл бұрын
It's a common missconception, but they only got screwed that way in between seasons 1 and 2, after that the creators did know they had many seasons to plan ahead, they just failed at it. There's even an interview of Bryke saying they wanted to make the show feel like 4 mini-series rather than a coherent overarching adventure like ATLA. Also, season 1 being rushed is their fault, if they were planning for 20 episodes but only got approved for 12 they easily could have cut unneeded content like the love triangles and the pro-bending.

I agree. Tenzin is GREAT character. Especially in season 3 with "that scene". Korra can be likeable as well, but her character development happens way too late in the season and we don't really know why she is so rash, and hot headed in earlier seasons, which made it hard for people(including myself) to connect personally with her.

Technically, in ATLA too. Aang had hard time with earthbending because it's hard for him to directly confront problems, he prefer to avoid fights. He also had a hard time with fire bending because he saw it as only a destruction weapon that is hard to control and could even hurt his friends.

@vindifference
@vindifference 4 жыл бұрын
@@paulwin9036 But bending is very much based on a person's mindset and inner personality as they bend; even ATLA pushed this concept. Aang's problem was that his Air Nomad personality was stopping him from earthbending; it wasn't *because* he was an airbender. It just so happens that Aang's core personality was most in sync with his first bending discipline. When you are born to a certain nation it stands to reason that said nation will try to instill the traits of the element into their young so that they match what they bend. Airbenders are taught to be carefree and spiritual, but Aang was naturally an airbender at heart anyway. It just so happens that Korra is a special case: she's a very stubborn passionate girl, and her father is also kinda like that as we see later. It may very well be that the only reason Korra found out she was the avatar so young in the first place is because she accidentally managed to earthbend or firebend one day due to her personality and emotional state. Also note that water is not Korra's preferred element; she gravitates to fire and earth. She is not exactly a "go with the flow" type of person. If she were, she'd have probably been like the more recent avatars and only known she had waterbending until she was 16. I'd imagine that Katara was making an educated guess as a youth as to what Aang's issue was, but only brushed over the real reason. I feel like Iroh's perspective on how a person's internal spirit affects their bending, and how anyone can learn from every element, is far more significant to the series as a whole.
@paulwin9036
@paulwin9036 4 жыл бұрын
@@vindifference While this is definitely true, it would have been better to portray this by having Tenzin specifically mention Korra's uniqueness. Without it, it ends up with mass viewer speculation like what we are doing here. The fact that Avatars learning the opposite bending being the most difficult for Aang, Roku, and Kyoshi makes me to believe that the creators ultimately decided to change it to personality. As it would be able to somewhat explain the previous avatar's slumps with their own bending, and give a good reason for korra to struggle(though her character arc overcoming it is very rushed and not well planned imo.).

Both the series’ are beautiful. They have their own aspects that make them amazing. One thing I will say on this journey is do not compare them. Korra fights her own demons, just like Aang. It’s realizing the vast differences they are in that makes them fantastic. You also have to understand Aangs journey was about mastering the four elements and saving the world at the same time. Korra has already mastered three at a young age, so this is more about her being an avatar. Aang already had a good hang of it.

This was supposed to be a 1 season show--the sequel to their most popular series. Then they realized just how popular it was but they were still reluctant to support it fully. We eventually got 4 seasons out of it, but the creators had to fight every step of the way. Which is insane for a followup to ATLA.
