I didn't know figure skating well back then, and I had stopped watching the women's side because of the Sotnikova/Kim scandal in Sochi. When I first saw Aliona, she drew me in, and there was something different about her jumps compared to the other Russians. Now I know that she has better technique than Sasha and Anna, which is rare because most Russians I've seen have flutzes (though she goes between narrow outside edges and flutzes sometimes, she only uses her toe pick in her toe assisted jumps compared to her teammates' full blades which makes her jumps more sharp and clean). It's so unfortunate what happened to her in Eteri, I wish her the best with her new coach, really hope that this isn't the last we're gonna see from her

Thanks to the fact that Sasha left Tutberidze to Plushenko, her jumping technique has improved. Plushenko said in an interview that Sasha's jumps were not very good in technique, to put it mildly, it is not clear what Eteri teaches them and why they get high scores.
@mht49082 жыл бұрын
@@beautybomzh That's very true. Sasha's jumps are better than Anna's with a better outside edge lutz and has somewhat of a toe pick takeoff compared to Anna's full blade, however the massive prerotations are still there. Zhenya's technique was probably one of the worst I've seen even among the Eteri girls, yet the ISU judging lets her get away with it, hence she won her World titles (no hate to her, I love her as a person and her artistry is exceptional).
