@@DonRaynor usually thats the case but there was a weird glitch in systems that Finland had me registered as fully Finnish living abroad with no other nationality and that's why I was forced to go. Wasn't the end of the world anyway 😂

The thing with Kotipizza is that it's not good enough to be a nice restaurant pizza and it's not cheap enough to be a hangover pizza. Well some people have expensive hangovers I guess.

You kinda have to order a custom pizza from Kotipizza for to be good, imo. The problem is that the pizzas have a very thin base with a lot of sauce making them very soggy, but with a custom one you can avoid that as long as you don't ask for too many ingredients. The simpler the better.

The quality of Kotipizza restaurants varies quite a bit, because it's a franchised chain. They are independed pizza places that have made a deal with the Kotipizza franchise for advertisement benefits and guidance on running the business. Two Kotipizzas right next to each other might hold themselves up to very different standards, as long as the minimum requirements set by the franchise are met. This is actually pretty common, I think Hesburger works the same. Basically, Kotipizza is always at least "good enough", but some Kotipizzas, especially the places run by those who really love the job, are amazing.

In Ruka the Kotipizza is AMAZING! I was there on a break from my trip from Kilpisjärvi to Helsinki. I loved the pizza they made. I think that in Helsinki the Kotipizza seems a bit worse than at Ruka.

I agree that Kotipizza doesn't have the best pizzas. What Kotipizzas does offer is a full list of their ingredients and the origin of those ingredients. That's also why the price is higher compared to generic pizza/kebab places. Kotipizza has made themselves (at least in my eyes) a company that wants to be transparent about these things.

I was kind of disappointed that you didn't test any of the "standard" pizzas you can find everywhere, but then again thanks for checking out the ones I might never try without recommendations. One of the reasons to go Kotipizza is that you know exactly what you get, just like in McD. Personally I would give them higher points than you did.

We all have opinions, mine is that Kotipizza is below any generic kebab-pizza place : overpriced and at best the pizzas taste ok. If I have to choose between Kotipizza and just buying pizza from store's freezer, store wins each time

I love Kotipizza and I'm a pizza chef at a fancy naples pizzeria. People hate on it because it's more expensive than the average kebab pizzeria place, but the ingredients are far better quality and I've never had to go to the emergency room because of food poisoning after Kotipizza which is not something I can say about the cheap pizzerias

Well, on the menu, the Berlusconi was award winning pizza. Not sure if it's still on the menu, but would be reasonable to go with that when testing. And it is a franchise, so basically only ingredients are the same with all entrepreneurs.

I think the main complaint about kotipizza is that the pizzas are small and quite expensive. I like the taste of their pizza a lot better than your generic everyday kebab-pizza restaurants though. You win some, you lose some.

I do prefer Kotipizza over those generic kebab-pizzerias any day. I think that kotipizza has better quality. Their crust is delicious and their pizzas aren’t that much dripping grease. Kebab places always serve so salty and greasy pizzas. Quality over cheap prices for me.

Kana-feta-avocado kotzone is my favourite (with garlic mayo)... But I rarely use Kotipizza because I don't think it's worth the price.

Price is definitely the problem with Kotipizza. The pizza's are *ok*, but they are expensive so it just doesn't add up. Best part of Kotipizza is that you can get a pretty tasty vegan pizza from them, if you want. Finland is dominated by kebab-pizzerias, so if those are not your cup of tea, it can be hard to find a good pizza outside of actual restaurants. From franchise pizzerias, I'd nominate Pizza Hut as the best one. Still expensive, but I feel like its worth the price. Just a shame they don't have a store in my city.

I actually enjoy PizzaBuffa a lot. With the price of one Kotipizza pizza you can eat as much as you want and they actually taste quite good. You can also order takeout pizzas and they're cheaper than Kotipizza's =)

My favorite Pizza: - Blue cheese - Egg - Pepperoni - Mushroom You can replace Egg with Pineapple, or Pepperoni with Bacon. It's very flexible. But Blue cheese is an absolute must. Egg can also be replaced with Shrimps, but I fell in love with Egg in a pizza, it's simply divine combined with blue cheese. 😋

People complaining about the price.. Get two normal (actually small) panpizzas from pizzahut and drinks and it's almost 40€! Get a normal monster from kotipizza for 15€, 2-3€ for a drink and be fillled out!

My favourites are kananpoika kotzone and new york monste (with garlic dip). And you really should taste Berlusconi. That was created after Berlusconi said finns can’t make proper food and later it won the pizza world champion (2008)

Kotipizza is the Finnish premium pizza. The reason people prefer other pizzas is that Kotipizza is quite a lot more expensive and the size is sub-par. Secondly, Calzone is baked in pizza while Zone is a folded pizza with fresh (ice berg) salad in between. Kotipizza calls their zones by the name kotzone but there are also other zones around. Some pizza places haven't bothered giving their zones any name and they're on the list by just "zone"

If so, why buy scissors in the first place and not the proper tool? also the way you cut it, makes the food come to your hands or you have to tear the thing you are cutting separate as you cut to avoid this, also you have to elevate it (some sauces/droppings will flow/drop), so you can get the bottom part of the scissors under the pizza. Additionally the scissors are much harder to fully clean due to how they operate, (unless you have a version where the 2 parts come off) and there are spots where bacteria can more easily take hold of and hide Additionally, it is slow af compared to a roller-cutter

You should try the Kananpoika (chicken) kotzone, it's a classic! Also yes, you are supposed to take off the dough toppings on Monsteri, and dip them. That's why you get the dip free with Monsteris.

Ey, Kotipizza's good, but since you're Helsinki residents, I'd recommend Marco Polo or Parmesan Arabia! Imo the main attraction of both are the Smetana Pizza; a combo of kebab meat, jalapeños and sour cream drizzles to ease the burn. Marco's version has the classic hangover crust, and if I'm not entirely mistaken, there are some extra toppings in addition to the main 3.

The best pizza at Kotipizza is Kanakotzone w/ garlic sauce. If you want the same but save 1€ choose Omavalinta kotzone and add chicken + free garlic sauce. Simple but delicious! (I’m a student so every coin counts, just a little tip)

Lihamonsteri (or is it Texas nowadays) with garlic dip is what I always chose, you should try it!🤤🤤 and the gluten free dough is super good as well, the taste is really close to the normal dough😋 But you can’t get a gluten free monster, so now I choose the ingredients myself. I love that the company is ecological and transparent about the origin of the ingredients, maybe we should appreciate that more, you always know what you get and food poisoning isn’t on the menu. Okay the prices are pretty high (because of the quality) and I hate that the gluten free option costs extra, like it’s a choice to be allergic... So I don’t eat there often, but I definitely love their pizza🙏🏼 and now I have a crawing😂

Kotipizzan pizza, stuffed not with minced meat but with powdered sauce! And pineapple and other fillers to your liking. Personally, I put shrimps, onions and peppers (not very fleshy, but like I said, the rest of the fillers as you like. Maybe too much meat can't be filled, otherwise powdery sauce doesn't taste. But at least, just put it in powdered sauce ... And pineapple, Nam)

Back in the day 20+ (my good it’s a long time) yrs ago while I was staying at my brothers place in Turku, we got an order of “turtles pizza” from Koti pizza in there and it had the minced meat sauce and 4 cheeses 😂👌🏻 that was _SO_ special back then and well.... unbelievably good 😳 clogg my veins please kind of stuff 😅 (or just “lemme put my feet to my pocket and gimme a push”) 🤦🏼‍♂️

You are supposed to eat the thin pizzas the New York style, googgle it. You hold it from the e both edges of the round part and then kind of fold it a little. It stays together that way.

Kotipizza is fine if you are just hungry, if not a little expensive (at least compared to the usual kebab-pizzeria pizzas). If I want a 'real' pizza though, I'm gonna pick one up from one of the Italian restaurants in the city. My favorite kotipizza though is either the kebab kotzone or monsteri with pineapple, red onion, pepperoni and paprika with the tomato sauce switched to the barbecue sauce (and with the chili dip). I'm not much of a meat eater but enjoy a lot of flavor in my pizza. :P

I think the main complaint that people have about Kotipizza are their prices. A normal pizza there costs around 10-11 euros, whereas in other "regular" places the price is usually somewhere between 5 and 8 euros. Even though Kotipizza's food is quite good, it's not that good that I would pay 11 euros for a medium sized pizza. The good thing about their menu is that you can be sure that you get what you order, so if you have allergies etc. it's a safer option. However, since I can eat anything I almost always choose some Turkish kebab-pizza joint over Kotipizza.

Kotzone dough is also a lot healthier high fiber dough. Some of the Kotzones are actually really good, and you need to get the chili-mayo, or they might def. feel a bit tasteless. Also, always always always eat them fresh at the store, they suffer a LOT from delivery

I fail to understand why you didn't try the Berlusconi. It's absolutely the best pizza you can get at Kotipizza and certainly the most unique. Also it won the award for the best pizza in the world a few years back.

the quality of the kotipizza varies and depends on the establishment you're eating at/from, due to it being entrepreneur based. Every place is it's own in a way.

Best kotipizza is Berlusconi (check out the story behind the name) with added pineapple. It has reindeer, mushrooms and onion. I also cut my pizza's with scissors!

I used to love the original burger pizza so much, but nowadays I actually love the Härkis version of the burger pizza😍❤️ But tbh the quality does vary alot. I think I have had the best burger pizza's in Jyväskylä, in Joensuu they are okay, but not as good as in Jyväskylä😂 But it's been many years so I don't know if they are the best in Jyväskylä anymore😂

I like the vegan pizzas and also the "dippikukkakaali" aka cauliflower wings (I just have to leave out the blue cheese since I don't eat dairy).
