ty for pointing out pinterest’s ai problem 😭 i’m not an artist per se but i am a writer and one of the ways i use pinterest is to make vision/moodboards for my stories. i can’t even count on my own two hands the amount of times i’ve saved an image to one of my boards, only to later do a double take and realize that it’s ai generated. it’s 1000% an issue that pinterest needs to tackle sooner than later.

the worst part about red velvet is that its clear that the mv concept was reshot because of the backlash over the teasers since the theming doesn't match the album at all. what makes that even worse is the reshooting used Joys concept that they had previously trashed. and she had to fight tooth and nail to even have it heard out and then they used it to cover up their own mess.

Generative AI is such a plague to the creative industry. It affects EVERYBODY; Artists, photographers, writers, actors, editors, animators, effects artists, musicians, and probably much more. The only thing “impressive” about AI is how it’s gradually becoming indistinguishable from human-made products which is actually super concerning. Hi, I feel that a lot of people, Madein’s fans included (Mabys) felt that way too when they saw UNO’s official MV. Madein fans were outraged and the backlash was so bad that their company, 143 Entertainment made an apology & made a non-AI version of the MV which they should have done so in the first place. It’s truly sad how Madein’s debut was sabotaged. Highly recommend checking out Madein’s UNO (MV Natural Ver.), Hopefully you can have a better listening experience & their B-sides, personally I thought they were great.

one of the huge problems i have with ai is when it’s considered art. art IS art because it’s personal, it’s imperfect, it’s influenced by who created it, it’s HUMAN. because of those things, music is art. making ai write a song is technically lyrics and music, but it’s hardly art and will never compare to what humans genuinely personally create. im sad to see belle say she sees interest in using ai to make music as ive always thought kiof made good music, and was excited to see them be involved creating that. i hope kiof, among other groups, abandon the blandness of ai in music.

Writing is an art too, and these AI tools are not always correct. Paraphrasing, word choice, etc. are all still a human element that it's skipping. Also all the current AI out there right now is built off stolen work and the power usage is extremely high, so the environmental impact of them is very detrimental. I wish it could be entirely ripped from those profit-driven companies and rebuilt from the ground up ethically and sustainably.... AI could be a tool but as it exists, it's not a good tool and has really only done harm.

Vocal synths are a thing. Thank you for making this video. As someone who recently started studying graphic design this change in "art" really does frighten, saden and anger me. AI is simply a tool to steal from actual artist that learned their craft for many years. AI makes me fear for my future and my career plans. Within kpop, I've seen many people simply call others that don't like the AI content of a group as "antis" when that's just so inmature. This goes bejond fandoms and stupid internet fights. AI is going to change our lives (I personally believe for the worse) and we should express our bounderies as much as we can. AI is ruining originality and creativity. For now it's "just" replacing visual art but at some point it's also going to replace the music and even the idols. But I wanted to point two things out: 1. The pictures you showed of "AI looking people" actually aren't pictures, they are edits and also seem to be made with AI, at least Karina's (I could be wrong tho). 2. It's a little bit hypocritical to complain about naevis using an AI voice when you also use one. It breaks my heart how normalized using ai to replace real artists has become. i remember a couple months back, i was watching a video of yves unboxing her album with the graphic designer who was in charge of designing it, and he mentioned that the drawing of a red house that was seen in the album was ai generated, and i remember just feeling so disappointed. i was also shocked about how bella talked about using chat gpt to write lyrics as if it is something that all lyricists do. as a person who writes lyrics, i personally could NEVER imagine doing something like that! it is so unfortunate how common ai "art" has become and it seems that non-artists don't see a problem with it. every time i see an ai generated image, i can't help but feel dread for what is to come.

2:43 just want to clarify here that saying these are kpop versions of hatsune miku is completely wrong here. Naevis is kpop version of hatsune miku, because miku is a vocaloid brand (not a human singer). Producers type the lyrics into the software and the vocals are generated using a library of voices pre-recorded (think of it like vowels, sounds, phrases) to generate the words typed in. Then the producers can tweak the vocals further with auto tuning to make it fit the melody. Naevis is essentially the same here, you have a full team behind it but no real singer but I think due to the huge AI trends happening lately, people forget that Hatsune Miku and all the other vocaloids that have been around for over 20 years are pretty much the same type of "art". K/DA, PLAVE, MAVE for example, are human singers behind the scenes but publicaly are presented as virtual singers. Naevis, Hasune Miku, other vocaloids are non-human singers. Besides that, your criticisms on AI use is fine, just wanted to clear up that confusion about hatsune miku

i disagree. vocaloid is way more complex than typing in lyrics into a prerecorded library and fine tuning it. vocaloid libraries and software allow producers to control the most minute parts of each phoneme spoken and the timbre and style that the melody is “sung”. it’s more like a tool than it is an ai generated singer. i would compare personally vocaloid to a sampler or maybe even a crude vst. but ai? that’s beyond a stretch, that’s just not true lol. the “pre-recorded library” is made up of human voices. pre-recorded and manipulated doesn’t equal ai generated. if it did, then every vst and midi sound that mimics a choir would be ai

@@djpussyfart I definitely oversimplified it so I appreciate the better explanation on it, thanks :) For now, with naevis there's too many assumptions involved to really know the process (I hope they open up more about it in future since some say its ai generated and some say there's a vocal library provided by sm artists like aespa) but I do see Naevis as Kpop's first big attempt as a competitor to Japanese vocaloids. I still see them as non human singers. So I personally thought it was unfair to imply that k/da or PLAVE are "kpop miku hatsune" (whilst not said specifically in the vid, the footage shown during this statement seemed to imply this to me) and to then use Naevis as an example of taking jobs away from a real singer.

This is exactly what I said to myself while I was watching this video. The difference is, Hatsune Miku (and the rest of Vocaloid characters) have been there for ages without damaging the Japanese idol industry. I mean, J-pop idols have been doing just fine (as far as I know) because Vocaloid wasn't meant to be a replacement for human idols. However, the goal seems to be different in case of the Korean market, and that's what scares me, honestly. I don't mind virtual groups, but I just cannot trust SM and the other labels to make a fair use of AI :/

No, she isn't and you are misrepesenting Vocaloid! Clearly you never used the software. They don't type in the lyrics, they puzzle the vowels together themselves! I used Utauloid, which is the cheaper, free version where you can use characters like Teto. The software they use isn't AI but it's the same speech software people like Stephen Hwaking used that was tweaked to be able to sing. Also, in their case, the vocal library was built using a singular human's voice who recorded every vowel and sound they could make. Naevis isn't that at all! It's AI generated based on a bunch of vocal samples that likely isn't coming from a single human and the AI pieces everything together by itself.

8:17 right, it isn’t a money problem. it’s a time problem. the kpop industry moves at lightspeed, through trends and popularity and everything. idols release music and music videos often at least 3 times a year. music videos, recording, choreo is all created pretty close to the comeback date, editors are crunching, producers too and no-one really addresses this. if your idols are overworked, what about the people behind the scenes? companies rush them to complete things, but AI works instantly, you can generate thousands of pictures at a time, tweak them just by typing an extra word. and then there’s the fact that these companies want to be ahead of the game, first to do what’s new to stand out. particularly SM and Modhaus, they have always been experimental with their artists and this is them experimenting. but when you experiment, there’s always a chance the results will be deformed and have 6 fingers.

The Billlie situation is just so weird because it turns out that the ai album cover was "made" by the same actual artist who did all their previous covers. Those covers are proof of great talent and yet they've recently just decided to adopt ai image generation wholeheartedly. Is it some sort of misguided vision? Are they just trying to minimise the effort they have to put in? Do they really think they're gonna benefit from this in the long run? What's more, it makes Mystic Story's part more confusing as well. Did they know that the next cover they paid this artist to make wouldn't even really be made by them or did they just not care enough to check? If the latter, did they even realise when they received the cover image? I don't know what is even going on with the people involved but I'm severely disappointed in all of them. It's a disaster on levels beyond just that of the ridiculous ai teasers that RV and KOIF got.

This video is so good my wig flew off. But with the whole Armageddon comeback (e.g. Supernova and Armageddon mvs) I personally could find an excuse for using ai because the whole concept of the comeback WAS about ai and finding the real authentic self among the deepfakes. WARNING: THIS IS COMPLETELY MY PERSONAL OPINION AND INTERPRETATION OF THE COMEBACK AND I AM OPEN TO OTHER SUGGESTIONS ON HOW PPL SEE THE LORE (im still waiting on the new sm cinematics IF they ever come out😞). 1. In the supernova mv i feel like the members dont portray themselves but their deepfakes and thats y in the culmination / resolution of the song we are shown the deepfake images for us to be like OOP OK THAT AINT AESPA THATS FAKE💀. 2. In armageddon there are 2 aespas: the real ones (in the black outfits), and the fake ones( i call them ai goddesses/creatures and there are like DROP DEAD GORGEOUS I AM OBSESSED) that have corrupted/ attacked the real ones. And basically they use ai to hint to us that the ai members arent real but some other creatures PRETENDING to be the real members. And the ai-generated painting you put in the video is giving either “ai armageddon” aka the final battle between real and fake OR ai olympus aka the kingdom of the ai gods😞. The moto of the album is “Only I can define myself” so my assumption is that the directors use ai to help us differentiate btwn the real aespa and the deepfakes. But again - this is my interpretation of the mvs, and i am trying to find a reasoning in the decision to use ai rather than defending it😞. Thank you again for the slay video🙏

I don’t know about the actual album or photobook (since i don’t own them) but it’s so upsetting to see one of my ult groups get treated like this when they come from a relatively well off company with the ability to invest on their comeback (specially since p1h seems to be their latest cashcow, but that’s another issue). Really, ai usage really cheapens the product SOOOO much and worst, can even end up giving the groups a bad image.

A niche complaint I have about Naevis is, how we are headed towards an era in kpop in which we will have AI figures standing next to real ones and that will undoubtedly lead to comparisons. At my school, each of our halls are divided into teams. For my grade, we have three. There are mascots to represent each of the teams, and all of them are ai generated by some ai my math teacher used. She uses ai all the time and it looks disgusting imo.
