within just listening to only two songs of ATEEZ, I was shown two different genres. I don't know what I would call either of them, but both Guerrilla and WORK were so vastly different from each other-- and I enjoyed what both fed me.
I definitely want to see what else ATEEZ has to offer me, so if y'all could leave comments on where to go further into their music, I would love you forever for that. I clearly need help on where to go in this kpop maze.
any and all recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
thanks for the support:)

@@hunterashley-musicreact LMAO Hongjoong would love you then. It's a running joke from atinys, but Hongjoong has stated that Atinys aren't allowed to "love" other boy group, liking is okay tho 👀 lol. Based on your reactions here I think you'll be more into their darker, and/or more exciting/epic songs, so I have a few recommendations for where to go next, sticking to songs that have an mv to watch too: of course their debut songs Pirate King and Treasure, gotta get a baseline for where they started, and yes they had 2 title tracks on their debut album bc they're just that extra lol Wonderland The Real (Heung version) Halazia Hala Hala Inception Bouncy The Black Cat Nero (some context for this one, this is originally a 90s hiphop song by a group called Turbo, Ateez covered it on a program called Immortal Songs and turned it into this spooky halloween rock opera sort of thing, both fans and Turbo loved it so much that they did a short performance video and then later a full music video w/ one of the members of Turbo, Kim Jongkook, making a rare guest appearance)

So a more knowledgable atiny (their fandom name) can totally correct me, but afaik they aren't self-produced to the degree that Stray Kids are. However, they've worked closely with the same in-house team of producers from the beginning, the rappers write their own raps, and the leader Hongjoong is also one of their main producers. Seriously, don't sweat the comparisons. Stray kids are a great point of reference if you're trying to puzzle out what's going on. There's a ton of overlap in their fandoms, you're more likely to find a kpop fan who loves both than just one or the other lol. The members of both are really close too, since they both did a competition show called Kingdom together. Tho I think Changbin and Wooyoung were friends well before that. The killer voice you hear is usually Jongho. He's suuuuper powerful, a real pocket sized dynamo. But San and Seonghwa can both belt like crazy too. Honestly they're all incredible vocalists in their own ways. Plus Hongjoong and Mingi are 2 of the best rappers in kpop, period. They recently appeared in this youtube series called Killing Voice, where they did a medly of a bunch of their songs. It's "live" in the sense that they're really singing and there's no backing track, but it's also still pre-recorded and probably cleaned up a bit in post. Still, it's a mega impressive showcase of their vocals and one of the best Killing Voice performances I've seen. Oh, since you mentioned how much you love Seungmin's voice, and seemed to enjoy your brief foray into Xdinary Heroes territory, you should definitely check out Day6. They were JYP's first band, and Seungmin both looks and sounds so much like their keyboardist Wonpil that it's actually a little freaky lol. They also did a Killing Voice appearance, and I think they were the first band to get to play live instruments on that series. Their most recent comback (their first after they all finished their military services) Welcome To The Show is really good, and some of their classics are Zombie, Shoot Me, Congratulations, Time Of Our Life.

Haha I felt similar when I branched out from my first k-pop group EXO to Stray Kids (and now Ateez), I still have only gotten as far as deep diving into these three. I heard about Ateez because of their friendship with SKZ. They sometimes do TikTok's & dance challenges together - particularly Changbin & Wooyoung. Also shirtless guy is San & he is allergic to shirts 😂 Seeing as you liked Guerilla better, I would suggest Halazia, Wonderland, Pirate King, Say My Name, Not Okay, Rocky - and one for vocals - Empty Box.

YAYYY!!! ateez is one of my ult groups and i have a feeling you are really going to like them, they are fun, chaotic, silly, and the biggest sweethearts you will ever find. They are genuinely one of the closest groups ive ever seen, you tell their relationships with each other are nothing short of real and loving. They are also some of the most talented group of idols i have ever seen, one of the members, san, even being given the title of "the best performer in kpop" by multiple articles!! they also have one of if not the best vocalist in the generation, jongho, id have a really hard time keeping this short if i rambled on about every member and their incredible skills but them as a group overall is just so impeccable!! even going as far to have MULTIPLE "high class" artists like PSY call them the best performing group they have ever seen AS ROOKIES!! Its been said by many idols, for example, BM of KARD, that when ateez is on stage everyone in the room will gather around the moniter to watch and admire them! You'll also love to find out that they are involved in writing and producing their songs and even participating in the choreo!! i know this is a long comment but i really hope you check out some more of them and grow to love them as much as i do!!

Ateez are not quite as active in their production as Stray Kids, but they are a part of it. Ateez has an in-house production team named Edenary with about 10 producers, give or take, but the main producers name is Eden. However, the two main rappers of Ateez, Hongjoong and Mingi, are both a part of Edenary. Hongjoong and Mingi write all of their own raps for all of their music, and both also compose and arrange occasionally as well. If you look up the list of 4th gen artists with the most credits to their name, Hongjoong and Mingi sit at number 4 and 5 on that list, right behind the 3 members of 3racha. Hongjoong currently has 132 song production credits, and Mingi has 109. The reason Hongjoong has so many more than Mingi is because Hongjoong is a little more active in Edenary, and has worked on the team that produces music for the 5th gen k-pop group in KQ under Ateez, called xikers. However, all of the other 6 members of Ateez all have 2 song production credits to their names as well. On their last full album, they did unit tracks, and everyone participated in songwriting. The unit tracks are called Matz (Hongjoong and Seonghwa), IT's You (Yeosang, San and Wooyoung), Youth (Mingi and Yunho), and Everything (Jongho). Now, as for the issue with comparing groups. I won't personally attack you because that is immature, but I will explain to you why others might. While Ateez and Stray Kids are friendly, and some members are even friends, and there is a lot of over lap between the fandoms, with those people calling themselves Staytinys, the core fandoms do not get along at all. There has been a lot of fighting within the fandoms on social media since the groups competed against each other on Kingdom: Legendary War. There is a lot of bad blood between the fandoms, especially on Twiiter/X. It honestly feels like we have fanwars on a weekly basis for the last 4 years straight. One of the things that commonly gets thrown around is accusations of plagiarism, though there's never been any evidence of it. But that will be why anyone will be upset about comparing because we've fought dozens of fanwars on social media about it for years. Another common thing that happens is Stays constantly degrading Ateez accomplishments, calling them "nugu" and nobodies. There's also been plenty of much more terrible things that have happened, like false sexual crimes against children accusations, saying that Ateez members look like they have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, a lot of racism and ableism, jokes about mental illness and suicide, threats of violence and gore being sent through DM's. The threats got so bad during Kingdom that KQ actually made a public statement threatening legal action.

um. woah. to comment on the first part of what you said- thank you! i love hearing that type of information :) i didn't know that Hongjoong and Mingi had THAT many credits (other people commented that they wrote their raps, but like, that's a lot of credits!). i also absolutely adore unit songs, so thank you for those recommendations :) as for the second part of your comment-- i mean, that's insane. i want it to be known that when i talk about both groups, i do it with respect, not to shame one or the other. i heard that the two groups competed on Kingdom, and the fact that some fans took it too far does not surprise me (unfortunately). when people care about something a lot, they will fight to the death to defend it-- the problem is that neither Stray Kids nor Ateez need defending from each other 😬 sounds like some fans don't realize that! i appreciate this comment and letting me know the severity of the issue! sometimes fandoms can get messy and scary, when really, we're all the same! we all love and care for our core groups-- and i'm sure we all know that SKZ and ATZ both don't support those fans who are saying/doing nasty things. again, thank you for giving me some insight on fandom issues 😊
@BeccaFaye1314
@BeccaFaye1314 4 сағат бұрын
The unit tracks got music videos too, might make a good reaction 😊 you are absolutely right, though. There are toxic people in every fandom that take things way too far sometimes, but that shouldn't affect the artists themselves in any way. There's nothing wrong with enjoying both groups or many groups. The fact that the groups occasionally compete with each other shouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately, some people are just way too competitive and resort to dirty tricks. I knew what your intentions were. You see Stray Kids highly, so in a way, comparing Ateez to them is a compliment coming from you. It is not your fault that toxic fans have weaponized those similarities and fought with each other. By the way, I just want to make it clear that I don't intend to make it sound like Atiny are completely innocent either, though they do tend to be on the defensive in the fanwars majority of the time. When Oddinary hit number 1 on BB 200, some Atiny's joined Once's (Twice's fandom) in spreading rumours that the numbers were fraudulent. There was also a small group of Atiny's that tried to attack Skz for "copying" Ateez' pirate concept during Lalalala music video. But for the last 8 months or so, Stays on Twitter have constantly been attacking Ateez. It started when Ateez dropped the tracklist for their Will album before it's release. A good amount of Stays were claiming it was too similar in concept to the 5-Star tracklist. (Will's tracklist shows images of the moon cycles, and 5-Stars tracklist is the solar system) They claimed Ateez committed fraud to get number 1 on BB with Will (just as revenge of course), made fun of Coachella calling it a nugu festival and that no one would even like Ateez there, started a giant fanwar over the Aniteez plushies (Ateez' animal characters) accusing Ateez of plagiarizing Skzoo, called Mawazine nugu as well, even though it's the second biggest music festival in the world and said Ateez didn't deserve to headline it, and so much more.

I honestly don't understand why ppl are so against comparing groups. They are people with a similar job, it's the most normal thing ever to say oh, the voice reminded me of so-and-so from group A and the face reminded me of the guy from group B, and that concept gave me same vibes as group C. Like oh my GOD, no one is saying one is better than the other, even if you have a preference for some things over others, that's how listening to music WORKS. If you get ppl complaining about complaining just ignore them! Also Wooyoung is a biological son of Jimin and Taehyung from BTS and who disagrees with me has no eyes! XD

Comparing songs or artists will happen. Fans can not deny it, but sometimes, when a person is so stuck on the similarities they forget or ignore, what makes said artist unique. It can become their label. Both groups produce songs under similar sub genres while talking about individual expression. The songs themselves are different from each other.

For me it started with Stray Kids and then ATEEZ popped up and believe me it goes so fast. They have a very diverse discography. The rap parts are written by the rappers themselves. Hongjoong and Mingi help produce. In the album before we had unit Songs where all of them wrote songs. The Work MV was supposed to be just a funny MV I am sure you would like Halazia. Wonderland. The Real. Maybe Inception. Thanxx. Hala hala. Also Wooyoung and Changbin are really good friends. Venturing into K-pop Ateez is one of the best groups. KQ Entertainment (their company) are small. But they came out with the most amazing artists. Ateez are the whole package and their vocals are incredibly amazing, their dancing is on point. I have a few favorite K-pop groups I like (stray kids being one, Felix is my baby lol). On a level of live performances ATEEZ gives their all and live performances are on another level. They just performed at Coachella Music Festival (first K-pop group to do so) they rocked that place both weekends. If you like ATEEZ, the KQ genes spread to their baby (Ateez's babies) group that just debuted March 2023 XIKERS. Best debut of 5th Gen that blew me away. HongJoong the captain of Ateez also helped write a couple of songs for Xikers as well so you might like them also. ENJOY THE TUMBLE DOWN THE ATEEZ RABBIT HOLE. You won't regret it.

ATEEZ stands for A to Z or A TEEnager Z so it's pronounced like the letter name A as in "He is A tease". Generally kpop group/boy group (or girl group) is used when they dance rather than play instruments like Stray Kids and ATEEZ. Band is used for groups that play their own music live like Day6, Onewe, and Xdinary Here's. Members; Hongjoong - Captain, main rapper, producer, the first member in Guerrilla with the half black, half white hair Seonghwa - oldest, vocalist, and sometimes rapper, shaved sides in Guerrilla, long hair on ostrich in Work. Both he and Hongjoong were born in 1998 (Leeknow's age). 99 line Yunho - main dancer, vocalist, one of the pretty singers in Guerrilla (sitting in the chair), stacked burgers at beginning of Work Yeosang - vocalist (baritone), blue green hair in Guerrilla, chicken hugger in Work (fried chicken is is favorite food, so it's funny to the fandom) San - main dancer, lead vocalist, blond who also sang the pretty part in Guerrilla (on TVs), shirtless in Work. Mingi - main rapper, deep voice, Willie Wonka in Work Wooyoung - main dancer, vocalist, Changbin's bestie, with the Flamenco dancers in Work Maknae Jongho - main vocalist, widely considered the best male vocalist of the 4th gen (groups with debut promotions in 2017 - 2022), buried in Work (BTW, the sound is a clarinet). In Kingdom Legendary War, he, Seungmin, and BtoB's Eunkwang sang IU's Love Poem. It'll be hard for anyone to top it.

@@hunterashley-musicreact 🤣🤣 I get it! My intro to kpop was also skz so there was definitely a lot about other groups and things other companies allow that jyp doesn’t that surprised me at first.

Since you like Stray Kids, I recommend checking out Kingdom! Amazing performances, and you'll get to see their friendship with Ateez as well as with the other groups on the show.

Interesting how as you made the comparisons youd stop yourself sort of because it seems you realize how unfair it is to be comparing what you know from one group to the one that should be newly discovered with a fresh outlook. Despite those moments, I do hope you go forward getting to know Ateez as a unique group properly. Its expected you wont understand lore related things but starting with a proper guide would do you much better (if your serious about taking the time to know them), they're pretty long. If you need a list or links, it can be provided.

i will always point out similarities and differences as i see them, but never in a negative way. kpop groups are different the same way people are different! differences aren't always bad :) thanks for the comment 🫶
