Unfortunately, that's unlikely to happen. If she even tries to come into the K-pop spotlight, she will get a ton of hate left, right and centre. Also, it's extremely rare that a company would sign a "problematic" person to debut in their group, as companies rely a lot on their public image.

Hybe definitely dropped the ball with Garam. Their first few statements SUCKED. Saying “she was the victim and well sue people who say otherwise” without giving any proof behind the claim was a stupid move. Their last statement that explained everything should’ve been the first and if they planned on dropping her they should’ve never brought her out. I do have to cut them some slack tho, her case was hard to work with. Kpop fans whether they’re inets or knets are unforgiving. They would’ve found out she had that lvl 5 and she would still never hear the end of it. Like look at how kpop fans are acting now that we DO have the full document. They’re still looking for a reasons to hate her because they’d rather do that instead of admit they were wrong. HYBE could’ve done better 100% but I blame kpop fans and their love for witch hunting more. There’s only so much you can do about the general public and their hateful ways. I heard Garam is doing better and still attends SOPA in the acting department, so all I can do now is hope Garam still gets to live her dream.

4:37 the thing that crracks me up the most about this is that when looking at what korean women say about their experiences with men, intimate partner violence and sexual harassement/assault from male friends and acquaintances is sadly very common in the country. Shit tons of women say they having experienced intimate partner violence at least once. And given how bad the anti-diffamation laws are in korea, most women cannot report what happened to them to the police (like the police even cares), cause the amount of evidence you have to bring up is insane compared to other countries and you could get charged for diffaming him (it's a well known fact that you can go to jail in korea for telling the truth bc of those laws). So the legal system clearly does not protect victims which emboldens abusers. And it's a well-known fact that with money and fame comes even less accountablity from society and the law. And on top of all that South korea just elected a president who campagned on blatant misogyny. The sad reality is that most korean men would be wild misogynist by western standards, this very much include your idols because they, like everybody else, are the product of their environment. Just cause a guy doesn't look at a woman's privates in publlic doesn't mean he treats women well behind the scenes. So yeah, defo stop praising them for the bare minimum. Yo don' t know what they say in their groupchats, how they treat their female partners, etc. A guy can be polite and still be an abuser. It all depends on wether he believes the person in front of him is worthy of respect. Never praise any man for the bare minimum but in particular, in such a cultural climate, I recommend seriously lowering you expectations for these male idols and demanding more before you throw them flowers. Yeah I know that #NotAllMen but also #WayTooFuckingMany !

Ok 1st of all let's clear some things up. If Hybe had plans to take Eunseo to court like they said they would not be able to disclose the entire report. That report is basically what the whole case revolves around. Clearly since Garam is no longer with Hybe they cannot stop her from releasing the report since they most likely are not representing her legally anymore. Also Eunseo and her lawyers knew what they were doing when they release a portion of the report. By doing that they actually circumvented Hybe and weakened their case. Everything would have become harder for them and with public outcry so lout in SK and no one willing to actually listen to the company about the situation, they let her go. Only Garams fans were supporting her. Everyone else sided with Eunseo. Garam and Hybe never had control of the narrative from the beginning and this is the result.
@KookiesNolly
@KookiesNolly Жыл бұрын
thank you for your common sense. Hybe simply never had control over this narrative. Unlike what people would have you believe, kpop stans' initial reaction to scandals is to believe the idol is the devil unless it's their fave, and since Garam was a new girl she didn't really have that many people to defend her yet. In this scenario, the only way you can get away with things is if the story is entirely fabricated and it's easy to prove because kpop fans only see in black and white with those things. Unforunately, Garam's case was based on a grey situation that was turned it into a classic black and white kpop scandal painting the idol as the worse person who ever lived and the victim as an innocent angel. On top of that the accuser was very strategic by releasing pictures, when they knew Hybe couldn't do the same, and the strategic pictures they chose don't actually prove any bullying but simply bc they were the only ones to do so it was enough get the peanut brains looking for a reason hate on her side. Nobody could've salvage this situation. To solely blame Hybe is also a way to absolve fans of any responsibility. at the end of the day, it's the public that abuused Garam for months. They could've waited or used their brains, but they chose not to. That's on them. And they claim they are all for "accountability" when they releash in anonymity to actually bully others. despicable.

Kim Garam's image was already destroyed beyond repair for her to bounce back in a short time even if her name had been "cleared". LeSse was still promoting and I guess their group image was more important than one single member's, especially when you think about Chaewon and Sakura being the people they are. I don't care whether she was innocent or guilty over petty middle school drama or however many apologies she deserves now, but from a business perspective (which is what Hybe is, people) I don't see why they've would've defended her to the grave when she debuted barely 2 weeks before the news got big. It doesn't make sense for Hybe to waste resources for a rookie who they could just get rid of, so they did exactly that. Hybe made their choice and therefore also made their priorities clear. The team far outweighed the individual.

Hybe is just doin promotion/representative for all the agencies its' under. The managing team is still the respective agency, that meant from the clothes, to the music the artist produce, to tours, to announcement and etc. Why is it hybe's fault? They said what garam said, defended her on court PRIVATELY (garam could only released the documents after she was let go, because it was an ongoing court trial), still kept her for the duration of the scandal. If you as a company is going to please the PUBLIC (which is always the villain in all of these types of scandal, but also your BIGGEST consumers), letting go of garam was a wise choice (though brutal for the individual) for the WHOLE group. Whether or not garam was proven innocent, the public already has their own biased perception towards garam and the group and they wouldn't change their minds that easily. They would be harassed every day until their last days. So never bully celebrities online kids, they are still human no matter how perfect they present themselves.

How do we solve bullying ? Kpop stans: by bullying minors worse But lets make excuses when we see male idols being rude to others and call it a joke. And also, i do agree that fans have such low standards. They will call idols all rounders and aces for being bellow average at everything . So apparently that means we are all aces. I know it would be hard for me to come out. Some of my friends still didnt come out. Or they came out and some of their parents didnt support them. The supposed victim had posted very untrustworthy proofs and yet people insulted and attacked anyone that didn’t believe them. And finally it was the public that wanted garam out, when hybe let her stay the public complained and after month they finally let her go the public complains. Hybe could have moved better but they didn’t do much wrong other than following the correct legal procedure for a case with minors in it. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that was garam herself to wish to leave, y’all insulted and BULLIED her to an astronomical level. Blaming Hybe won’t take away your guilt of cyberbulling a 16 year’s old out of her dream career. I hope hybe will learn from this and do better, but I hope even more that y’all will take a look in the mirror and have a bath of conscience. (The y’all is to the general public not to the person making this video)

as a bi girl who was outed in high school, the queerbating thing makes me so angry, these are real people, not fictional character. queer bating is used to describe shows where characters act like they're queer, and the show portays them us such, but they either never say they are, or deny it at the end. it's meant to get queer people to watch these shows, without the risk of actually putting queer characters in their shows. idols are real people, not characters where we can have headcannons or speculate about their sexuality. these are people, and whether we like it or not, they don't owe us their sexuality. idols acting comfortable around each other, and doing "couple things" isn't queerbating, it's either just fanservice, or normal interactions from members who are very close, and i've seen too many close idols growing apart because of the way fans shipped them to take any more of this bullshit. the fans constantly sexualizing normal interactions between friends, or trying to figure out their sexuality is the problem, not the way idols act in this regard. sure, it's fanservice and it can be seen as pandering, however we don't get to say that they're pretending to be queer for views, because that's so fucking harmful. korea isn't friendly towards queer people, and their careers would most likely be ruined if they ever came out, so the queerbating acusations would be worse for their career, and companies would force them to stop acting that way. we don't know the groups' dynamics behind the screen, and we also don't know their sexuality, so they may be queer and we'll never know. and that possibility makes me even angrier. i can't imagine being queer in a group, not wanting to come out, since it would wreck my career, and having fans both constantly calling me gay, or having them tell me that im a horrible person for acting a certain way without wanting to come out. and if that's the case, imagine beeing queer and having people bully you because you act "too gay" around your friends. it's just plain disgusting, and i just wish people would stop treating idols like characters on a screen that have no feelings or lives of their own.

By no means do I want to defend hybe, which is a business corporation with profit being it's highest priority. But just to be fair and objective, they were saying the exact same thing as Garam did later, in her defense, after the supposed victim caused public outcry. They just said that they would present witnesses and evidence in court. But given how irrational the gp and kpop fans were acting at the time, unwilling to even hear them out, after months of huge negative public opinion and pressure, they terminated her contract, probably for the sake of rest of the group. And now, somehow they are the biggest villain? Not the netizens or the fans or the gp or even the supposed victim who started this very public villification?!?

🤌✨ Kindness and manners are dying day by day so I understand why people find it so wonderful and unbelievable when people see a decent human being… According to the timing we’re living there aren’t many good people anymore … so we need to praise them to spread the good influence so that it doesn’t die .. personally I do praise them too on purpose even tho it’s basic human manners to be nice and decent 💀 but only because I know if we don’t praise them the world might lose irate empathy completely.. so praising humans for doing good things even if they’re basic isn’t really a questionable thing .. we need to inspire as many people as possible to be good … I still remember when my sister simply opened a door for a girl that was trying to get Inside a certain room and that girl looked at her with starts in her eyes as if no one has ever been decent and kind towards her not once in her life despite it just being basic manners… it’s actually super sad and demotivating that the time we live in lacks all those basic simple needs… we need to point out the good in people and praise them yes! But not exaggerate it and treat them like Gods so they stay humble and continue to do good and know their place I actually support the praise but they need to do it In the right way for the right people .. like for example there are people who do really bad things but once In a while they do decent human action and get praised for it a lot and forget about the bad ..l like are you just gonna ignore the fact that he wasn’t intending on being kind or anything? Call them out for the bad that they did before praising them and if they improved you can praise them so they stay decent Meanwhile you have the innocent people who have done no harm .. those you can praise healthily so that they continue to want to be even better and actually reach a level higher than a decent human being and so that one day they’ll be able to influence others to be the same and the world could have more good % in it

I'm gonna have to *hard disagree* on the opinion about Hybe and the Garam situation because it is straight up not even based on Facts. A lot of y'all are almost doing revisionism on this case that is barely 4 months old. There was pretty much nothing new in the full report. Somu had already issued a statement with all that info before having her go on hiatus, and in that statement, they mentionned they were taking legal actions with the law firm and had classmates of Garam who could testify, but since this was very sensitive, involved children, and was already the subject of a legal procedure, they were not going to show off evidence just yet which makes sense (especially when the story includes what is very much the production and distribution of CP). I remember what happened then : pretty much nobody read that statement. Lots of kpop fans were sharing blatant misinformation about that statement that just showed they never read it. *If you did you would've known that they were telling everything that was in the report* . Garam is only able to share those documents herself now bc Hybe dropped the case. And y'all can say nobody believed it bc they couldn't include the evidence but how much do y'all even understand those evidence when clearly doctored pictures had y'all saying a lollipop is a cigarette? Or how y'all saw a cropped picture of an uncertified document that didn't even have the word "bullying" in it and concluded it was undiniable proof that Garam bullied the girl, just cause her name was on it? That girl very clearly chose to hide parts of the document that painted her in a bad light (as we saw with the full report) and it was easy to suspect yet none of the people spewing hate even considered that for a moment. Name on a paper, written in korean = absolute proof we gotta bully this girl. Be serious. What frustrates me the most about this whole ordeal is that, as always, kpop stans deflect all responsibility on the companies without taking two seconds to reflect on how they contributed to the issue. SomU was cornered by fans who simply refused to believe anything they said. I don't believe that they did everything right and i don't believe that simply dropping her was ethical of them, but let's stop acting as if this wasn't the most logical outcome given how the public was behaving. Y'all are not gonna rewrite history here. The hate was misinformed and unrelenting. *Had the public been rational and actually read anything, it wouldn't have taken such proportions and y'all wouldn't be acting now like you're just learning shit that was published in May* . People just wanted a reason to hate her, that's it. Regardless of how unfounded many of the claims about her were, regardless of how the only actual victim accusing her never said or provided any evidence of her being physically abusive, people went with the wildest, most damning interpretations possible. You could say that this always happens with scandals, but at some point *it stops being the companies fault that people just refuse to read or use their brains* . The sad truth is people found it entertaining to hate on Garam, that's why they joined the bandwagon and discarded all logic and common sense. Now the bandwagon says "protect Garam and hate on Hybe" so they do that. *Many, MANY of y'all are incapable of thinking for themselves* and that's why these "scandals" keep happening and taking such massive proportions. And bc the sheep-mentality of kpop fans is well-known by now, lots of bad faith actors stir up lies or turn morally grey situations into horrific tales to ruin people and stans become complicit in all that. What happened to Garam is the public's fault, before it's SoMu's. Who is holding them accountable for bullying a teenager ?

am tired of the garam situation......the company did release statement,they did have proof,they were available in korean platforms,they were also available in twitter , people did defend her in Korea,no matter how much they explained knetz and antis just didn't want to stop bullying her. many ssera fans were under big acc who did discuss her situation even clearing some informations but ssera fans in korean begged and kept sending emails to soumu to dismiss her even if she was proven innocent! for them her reputation did damage ssera debut and antis would never stop dragging them and they would be fighting and explaining the situation every cb, ssera stan in Korea explained that it would be hard to attract more new fans if every time antis will bring her alleged bullying, they were sorry for her but they chose ssera activities over her own image,they didn't want to keep defending her , they knew any time she would have done something questionable antis will attack her and team again proven their points. hybe and soumu were the bigger person here, they didn't want minors to be dragged on sns,they were in the process of suing that girl and her friends, but they couldn't go agai St the core fans of the fans who begged to remove her,even the international ssera stan wanted her out. garam situation is a Korean problem, it's not about clearing names or proving innocence it's about reputation! antis didn't care about our explanations ,they accused hitman of having sex with her! we really need to stop accusing companies every time sh*t like this happens, it's US the kpop stan that r damaging them!! soojin from idle was the same, knetz didn't want her it's not cube ! she was the most popular in idle,cube had more interest keeping her than throwing her but korean r not like us international,they boycott the group entirely if they don't get what they want,after all they r the ones who spend money. garam was a premeditated slander, someone just didn't want hybe gg to good like their bg, it just a political game between companies, every negative post had huge amount of likes ,its was organised and well done. they just didn't expect new jeans popularity......

about the x1 section (at around 5mins if anyone wants to rewatch) i have a theory that i just came up with on the spot. what if. x1 is the reason that bgs flopped. i got into kpop when they were disbandng so i hwve no idea what rhe kpop scene was like before them BUT. MY THEORY IS vote manipulation leaked, they disband > companies rush their debuts to utilise the scraps of mnet clout > theyre mediocre and resort to that same sound > everyone thinks bgs are boring booo > they flop HARDER. for my economics babes out there, tis external diseconomies of scales for the kpop boy group industry!!! i was also a decently frequent watcher of edward avila, and idk how he got so many nugu boy groups doing the sameish gameshow content. a lot of them werent super entertaining tbh so that didnt help with the impression of bgs 💀 i wonder if that was more influential than j thought?!! also bae173 was there too i think and it was Kinda sad. hangyul my boy you deserved more clout 💔 plus the groups are ridiculously big and i think most people would feel bad if they kinda solo stanned the x1 members but akso werent prepared to learn a dozen names so 🤷 edit: HAHAJSJS I CLICKED ON THE VIDEO TO CONTINUE AND YOU SAID THE SAME THING we experienced it tgt!!!!???

I love your videos because I can always agree with what you're saying and even if I dont 100% agree I can see where you're coming from, but your point about queerbaiting made me like you even more because FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT As a lyon (onlyoneofs fanbase name) I have to see all this comments about how they're supposedly "queerbaiting" all the damn time and it's extremely annoying and tiring. Queerbaiting is a big issue in kpop, yes, and actual acceptance of the lgbtq+ is just as much of an issue, not only in kpop but south korea in it's entirety. The fact that finally a group decided to step up and tackle this topic in their mvs respectfully through geninually good representation (I'm saying this as a bi dude) is very brave and I might even dare to say that it's just what we need so that the k-industry and maybe even the country itself becomes more accepting and respects the lgbtq+ community more. People not bothering to check wether something is queerbaiting or representation and just blalantly accusing anyone and anything that might be percived as gay as being queerbaiting is only causing more problems Sorry if the way I put this is kinda odd, english isnt my first language

In the beginning i also thought onlyoneof were queerbaiting, but looking more into their concept, music and videos i realized i was wrong. the entire idol industry does not really care for their artists individually and HYBE should be included. Back when HYBE was BigHit, they continously forced BTS' Jimin to diet even though it was not necessary, that should be a glaring example of companies not giving a shit for their assets unless those assets create profit. That's how a business is. Ofcourse, there are more important assets than others, one that generates more profit is deemed more important in business, so, IF SAKURA OR CHAEWON had a scandal similar to Garam, I think HYBE would have defended them due to their immense popularity, thus, more money for the company. It was always a loss for Garam. She did not have early, pre-debut success, unlike Yujin. Businesses, especially those that are labour-intensive, such as agencies, should never lose their morality. However, they have. And they, hopefully, will realise how much they have destroyed a teenage girl's life. But profit is profit, it not only gives HYBE executives money, but also their employees and other investment opportunities. Garam had to be let go, it was the least cost-consequence desicion.

1) line distributions - we dont know how the idols feel about it, so i dont think we really have room to judge what the company is doing wrong 2) clc not doing la vie en rose - i feel like la vie en rose didnt really suit clc concept, pepe didnt much either tbh, but its a shame they recorded it and everything 3) praising companies/idols - yes but i feel like being known for that might encourage other companies to actually do the bare minimum, some of them cant even do that 4) x1 - dont have a clue who they are/not really into boy groups 5) queerbaiting - yes same im bi :)) but labelling everything as queerbaiting is unhealthy because firstly they might be gay or show that theyre allys, not to show that theyre trying to look gay or something 6) hybe mustve had the full report because garam couldve easily given it to them, they really messed up there. not to compare with soojin but i thought theyd be better than cube, which they appeared like they would be but again they just said theyd take legal action and it just never happened 7) roty - i feel like roty just means that theyre popular as rookies, peoples music taste changes and they cant be expected to get similar awards like soty n all cuz within like 3 years their concept might change n stuff 8) shipping - i feel like platonic soulmate shipping is borderline okay? yk like soojin and shuhua are super close n stuff but romantic shipping what?? im gonna use jennie and v as an example but they literally could just be getting closer as friends/ planning a collab or something not every meeting between idols is a relationship pls- have a great day :))

Quite questionable, in Yoo Eunseo's situation she is indeed not guilty, and she posted the whole doument in IG, she was just defending her friend after Eunseo took a pic of her friend in her underwear and then posted it without that girl's consent. Even the lawyers that worked for Yoo Eunseo have a bad reputation in Korea for defending r4pists and p3dophiles, helping them to have little to no time in prision, those lawyers just care about money, and dont care for how much damage the would cause to the actual vicitims. But Garam still has very suspicious friends, her 05 friends post pics smoking and drinking, for korean culture, smoking and drinking as a minor is like a taboo, only "iljins" are the ones who do that ( a term for studens who are dominant among other students through bullying and almost all iljins are wild teens who go against social and cultural rules, even using bullying as a way to rebel ) you can find out they are her friends if you search their "korean tellonyms", they went to her same school and they are all same age, they follow the facebook page of Garam's predebut dance group, and there is a tiktok of Garam with one those girls, she also lied saying she never was a BTS' fan (even if there is nothing wrong if she actaully is, she is only 16 and many young artists and trainees from Hybe are big fans of them too), she said she never smoked nor drinked but her friends she used to film tiktoks with did do all that, so I will still stay neutral even if this case already ended, but even if she actually bullied someone, we have no right to bully her too. Edit: the pic of the chalboard where someone wrote "IVE down, LE SSERAFIM up" wasnt from 2018, Izone literally debuted in 2018, that chalkboard isnt from SOPA either, it is from Garam's friends' highschool.

Let me explain it nicer than the first comment. In short, yes. The full documents came out and it turns out she didn’t bully or curse at anyone. She was more of a bystander/ onlooker and even reconciled with Eunseo privately as the whole thing went down, it wasn’t until the alleged victim, Yoo Eunseo, posted half naked pictures of one of Garam’s friends that she (Garam) started cursing Eunseo out. That ultimately lead to her getting a lvl5 and Eunseo a lvl 6 or 8 I believe. It’s important to note that this whole altercation happened 4 years ago and she was 12. There was no need for her to be punished twice

Another song that's mentioned often in the conversation about queerbaiting is Monster by Irene and Seulgi. The novella that the song and the MV are based on is also kind of ambiguous about Carmilla and Laura's relationship. Ffs, it's written in 1800s, but Carmilla still explicitly tells Laura that she loves her and wouldn't love anyone but her. It gives the reader an impression that they will be together in the end, which empathizes the plot twist. Almost every MV scene makes sense with the book's plot, except the ending because it's slightly changed. So kpop stans really need to do their research before calling something like this queerbating. Because if one of the characters in the MV was a man instead of a woman, they wouldn't have had a problem. But somehow fictional queer couples (dating or not) need to strictly label their relationship. What do they want? A disclaimer like "The characters are not dating. One of them is a vampire that wants to suck the other's blood forever, and that's why she tries to seduce her"?

I knew that Monster was based on Carmilla, but i think that a lot of people think of the Monster mv as queerbaiting because of how it's presented. Some scenes look like they're just there to queer bait people and it might seem like there's not a plot at all, not to mention Seulgi and Irene have always been shipped by the whole fandom and obviously the company knew exactly what they were doing when they gave them this kind of concept. Obviously you would look at things in a different way if you knew the mv was based on Carmilla, but some people might not know and that's why they would just call it queerbaiting.

I'm glad I stayed neutral during Garams scandal and now that we're sure that she's innocent, words cannot describe how bad I feel for her. People ruined her career and now that it's over, we don't see anyone feeling guilty. I'm sure it hurt her fans as well (like me) to see so many people saying awful things about her. This kind of thing happens over and over again and people never learn their lesson. Haters were saying disgusting things about her being a heartless bully when they were heartlessly bullying her.

once she left the company she shared the school report which stated everything in detail and according to the report it seems she did what she did in order to defend a friend, so she's not the evil bully some people made her out to be

Didn’t Kim Garam receive a level-5 punishment for her school bullying issue and it was confirmed. And that is a huge deal, so there IS something. I do agree in some parts, that the adults are responsible of how bad it was handled, BUT do not try the excuse that “she was a child”. How many of you are victims of childhood bullying and have traumas till this day.

But the „victim“ got a level-8 punishment for taking picture from Garams friend while she was half naked and posted on internet. Because she did this Garam cursed heavely on her which caused the 5-level punishment. I‘m not saying that that what Garam did was good, but the „victim“ has done worse things and I understand Garams reaction.

They aren't saying not to praise them. Just praise them for things that are actually praiseworthy. Also, the way some people praise is seriously weird. On a video relates to Blackpink's Pink Venom, a person stated that Blackpink are the oxygen that they breathe. Now I know that is more of a one-off situation but praise I do see a lot for idols is that without their favourite idol, they are dead or they're lives were rubbish or dark without them. Like dude, you (not directly you but all fans) were alive before you even knew they existed.

@@ladyzebachi9365 I agree for some unnecessary comments but being physically alive doesn’t mean you’re soul is alive … u may never understand this but Some of us actually grew from these groups .. not all of us always had a stable life or a decent life ..I was bullied and physically abused by my own family and outside of it for a long time and super oppressed.. but I found a certain group that helped me gain confidence - self love and their music was so comforting because it speaks about our generation and our struggles .. I would see them act The same way I act when I’m being myself but the difference is I get called out for it and they don’t .. that gave me confidence in standing up for my rights .. also they made me go back to working on my dreams after my family destroying the last hope left in me .. they gave advices that I never received from my parents.. they changed my POV on life and showed good influence that helped me work on myself.. I had no one in real life to give me indirect or direct support.. no family no friends no one ! I used to get criticized and regarded for simply breathing .. I was a loner I would cry everyday and every night thinking that the problem is me and I always thought I needed major fixing and change in everything just to find out I’m living amongst people who don’t love themselves either so they project their insecurities and anger on me .. that group helped me find myself .. and after i found myself and started loving myself there was no one that showed any audacity to say anything disrespectful towards me because of the character development.. I used to still get mistreated but I kept standing up for myself and not staying quiet until one day they learned their lesson and gave up on being judgement now all my family are different people right now … the change that happened just because I accepted myself and gave my myself unconditional love that they failed to show … So I’m very much grateful for that group they made me realize my worth and self values .. I can go on about how terrible and traumatizing my life and childhood was and talk about how this group helped me breathe and finally feel like a living human soul and not just a living body .
