Growing Up Without Borders

5 жыл бұрын

Although Warsaw is officially the capital city of Poland, Krakow, also spelled as Cracow, is still referred to as the cultural capital of the country. After all, it is the oldest Polish city dating back to the 7th century and it was the capital for 500 years. Today it’s 4th largest city which thanks to its folklore, history, architecture and cultural scene is a fascinating place to visit.
Krakow is positioned on both sides of the upper Vistula River and it is known primarily for its UNESCO designated old town area which was proclaimed a World Heritage site in 1978. The Main Market Square which was laid out in the 13th century is one of the largest medieval market squares in Europe - the centrepiece of a town plan which was, and remains, a remarkable piece of architecture. With the dimensions of 200 x 200 metres and 11 streets diverging from its corners, this 40,000 square metres square is an impressive place to be at.
The grid-like pattern of the streets, surrounded by a tree-lined pedestrian avenue make all city corners easily accessible when you need to walk around. To the south, and connected to the Market Square by the long is the straight Grodzka street, as well as the Wawel Castle, the seat of many Polish kings from the eleventh to the early seventeenth century.
Wawel is something of a hodge-podge, with all kinds of shapes and styles jostling for attention, but that comes as no surprise knowing that people have been living there for over 50 centuries now and still continue to reside on the hill. It is also believed to be a place that emanates strong spiritual energy. This is why many people touch the wall of the shrine or the St. Gereon’s chapel - to feel the energy that is said to be accumulated there.

Thank you for this video--- my father was born here -- such great pride in being from Poland and knowing how to make most of their delicious foods.. They had to leave because of what was coming.. The horrible Nazi s took over and it was brutal.. they were severely hated -- even to this day.. they ruined everything they touched.. Even many of the German people despised them.. Had not my fathers family and many others left for America and Canada.. they would be dead. The Nazi s killed many and just took the light haired children and God knows how many were mistreated by their captors. Poland still have the scars to this day.. Also thank you for showing the valued Salt Mine and YES it does cure asthma. Too bad in America and Canada they don't open the Healthy Doorway to our salt mines and cure many people. Your girls are doing great and I pray many more successful adventures to come for you all.. God Bless and be well... and again --LOVE looking at the foods there.. so yummy.

Although Kraków and Warszawa are worth visiting, I recommend visiting also less crowded places such as mountains in the south, south-west (with a lot of small towns hidden between mountains) and south-east, Mazury lakes in the north east, tourist resorts at Baltic Sea, towns: Lublin, Zakopane, Zamość, Bydgoszcz, etc.

Great that your girls know the European geography 💪 Cracow is amazing, I love it so much. I am original from Warsaw anyway and although many people talk about some ‘hate’ between these cities I actually find that both are growing well, having great people and staff to do. Each time I go to Cracow I fell amazing and I love the passion they put into their customer service and tourism 👍
