If you need power, get a fission reactor up and running soon as possible. It will also give you the tritium you need for spidertron power. Ratios are NOT vanilla. While you're at it, see if you can design a factory that makes everything out of only wood. It is entirely possible.

Just discovered the videos and I'm enjoying them thoroughly. Krastorio 2 is a lot of fun, both on the initial stumble through and on subsequent, 'let's actually make something competent' passes. One small tip I wanted to point out is that the offshore pumps require precisely the same amount of power as a wind turbine produces. That's not coincidental, and I routinely put those pumps on their own teeny tiny power grid: just the pump, the wind turbine, and a single power pole. That way you have water coming that's agnostic of the load on your larger power grid. Thanks for the content!

Your modular designs around just making it go up or around, but like build around "adding to the end" for more production, has inspired me to do a new run of krastorio. I always got stuck in building optimized designs, but were not expandable. but as I told someone at work, sometimes you need to reorganize to make it more modular, while sacrificing some optimization, to make it easier on you. I'mma take my own advice, and you're examples, and just try it out again.

Edit - 5ish hours into it and yeah, modular was the aspect I was missing. I jumped between scopes mentally which is why most of my playthroughs never finished. but the casual usage of blueprints and reusing allowed my software engineer aspect to apply web development strategies into factorio. so now my factory _just works_

@@DocJade Thanks! I'm not sure on how to approach it yet but my main goal would be 5k or more, it is my first try on a megabase. I'm currently working on a 90SPM main bus base with a big mall to kickstart the whole process. Do you have any tips or tricks? It will probably be grid-based as my current base is too.

A very neat thing to do is have 2 power networks... 1 network to power power production and 1 to power the rest if the base... You could even do a third network specifically for your walls but that depends on your intentions and devotion

Cool series, I really appreciete short time format while still keeping enough detail. I dont know if you care or if you have changed it in later episodes, but krastorio has different nuclear ratios of reactors, heat exchangers and turbines than base game. If I recall correctly, reactors produce MUCH more heat (250MW each + 25% neigbour bonus) so 2x2 setup can run 150 turbines -> 1.5GW power for you.
